One of my childhood games, and one i desperately wish we had a sequel for. Something i find interesting is actually how many cut Ghoulies there are for the game, and how they still manage to remain in the game one way or another. The Gargoyles in the intro were supposedly meant to be actual enemies at one point. Two of the biggest ones that i find interesting is Gwenyth, The ghost woman who sometimes shows up at windows for the ghost jumpscares. Apparently Gwenyth shares the last name as the games villain and was supposed to be story-important at one point... The Other big interesting "cut" Ghoulie is one that was actually fully cut: The big walled garden area was meant to have a bossfight: A giant red snake ghoulie named "Clive" Clive's still referenced in the full game by there being a statue of himself in the area he was meant to be encountered in. But there was also a ton of other unused "regular" ghoulies including a fat version of the flying imps, a werewolf, a fiery ghost, a fish-frankenstein's monster like ghoulie, The gargoyles of course, a large... cabbage plant, a ghost that wasn't a jumpscare causer, a giant flytrap, a potted plant, a rock golem, and other types of vampires. I really do feel like a lot of these not being scrapped could've helped tone down some of the more annoying encounters. like, some of these guys could've easily been more miniboss types to lessen the spam of Haunted Doors and Hunchbacks...
19:00 Oh, and yeah, if you do get the mummy for this challenge, the only way to deal with it is to get the reaper to kill him, who throw the mummy out the window. Both are annoying.
My only exposure to this game was in Banjo Kazooie Nuts-n-Bolts where they make fun of it by putting it in a garbage can Somewhat ironic all things considered
Actually you still didn’t make it on time at the end of the game because after you get to Mr ribs there’s one more room you have to go through which would be the front gate. But for some reason when you fail, you still get the same cutscene.
This game got so damn frustrating later on, and trying to platinum all the challenges was a damn nightmare. when I played it as a kid, I broke two thumbsticks on both my original xbox controllers. years later when I finally got new controllers and relaxed alittle, I tried playing again. I enjoyed it alot more. Got 100% completion, platinums on all challenges, and beat the Amber mode. And then a few more years later, I did it all over again on the Rare Replay version. Still a pretty decent game that I don't think deserved the hate it got back in the day. Hidden Gem IMO
Finally after all these years I found the game I played a demo of
