I run my Martin through a Boss AD-2, Fishman AF Reverb and EQ. To try and regain the acousticness. Helps, but when I listen back to it recorded, I still hate it.

The strings on one of my electrics were binding at the nut, so I bought some Nut Sauce, and... problem solved. I agree with you that this should be something that is done correctly at the factory, but mine wasn't an expensive guitar. It should never happen with any guitar that costs 2k+
