It also pollutes the pool of randomly generated cards. You can easily get cards that are awful/useless because they require you to play other protoss spells, etc.
TBH this card is good even stand alone in druid for 7 mana you get 2 3/4 with charge 3 mana each basically, 5 armor and an HP that grant divine shield to you and a minion
As someone who loved Starcraft, this is absolutely in theme with Starcraft. The names, the abilities, what they do in Hearthstone matches what they did/provides in Starcraft.

Artanis and Warpgate/rogue pirate will discount rogue's templars by 5, which means Sonya can generate multiple archons after Artanis is played. Or blink spell+pirate. It will be interesting to see the math of all the ways rogue will destroy me...
you can theoretically play this earliest turn 2 with druid. druid gets the 0 cost spell that discounts ANY protoss card by 2, then coin + innervate x2. yes thats a highroll but you can still do it by turn 4 rather easily without innervate.
I would say Artanis is probably fine at (7) mana because it's similar to an Inzah-like effect, which is kinda useless until you draw it and might be worthless by that point... BUT, Druid exists.
The Artanis hero card is significantly more powerful than Jim Raynor, imo. It’ll be interesting to see what effects and hero power they’ve given to Kerrigan.
Artanis might see play outside of protoss decks, he still summons 2 3/4s with the ability to act instantly. Divine Shield on heroes isn't to be underestimated either
I honestly dont know if I like or hate this card, and this miniset in general. What I liked about hearthstone is that each class has a different kind of flavour and, I know this was lost a long time ago when priest became agro and hunter became control, but this hero doesnt make much sense to me for the classes its targeting, besides the reducing cost. I dont know, we will see how it goes.

Protoss in SC always have both their base health and an energy shield/secondary health bar. This mechanic doesn't really exist in HS so Divine Shield is a good substitute.

Hearthsone players can only whine from what I see: half the player base cryes that the cards are overpowered, the other half that they are underpowered, and I for one, really like the designs of the cards and really want to try most of the archetypes here
Thank God the discount is a Hero Aura, imagine we had 0 Mana Protons! The game would become incredibly unbalanced, thankfully Blizzard makes sure that we have to spend Mana to play cards.

I am totally in the minority, but I am not that impressed by Protoss stuff. It has more hope than the Terran stuff, but even with the amount of mana cheat they are pushing it still feels quite slow to me. At least until rotation.

This cards being severely over rated imo, the mana cheat is only for protoss cards which is very niche and the hero power seems mediocre. Raynor seems a bit stronger of the 2
So, because of mana cheating, they're actually printing over 10-Cost cards... That's a too realistic approach for a fantasy themed game: CEO's and Politics also build around problems instead of solving them.
Classes dont get their own hero cards. Artanis is the hero card for all 4 Protoss classes. Some Protoss minions we havent seen yet could be Tempest, Mothership, Adept or Stalker off the top of my head so those are very possible.
Yep! This is it. I was already contemplating the possibility of finalising my decision but this card makes me thing the dev team either doesn't care about scaling the power level down or the higher ups are forcing them to print broken effect to keep on selling sets. I'm gonna officially stop playing hearthstone and I'm not sure if I'll ever come back because at this point it's literally turning into worst Yu-Gi-Oh where you fling as many card as you possibly can to OTK your opponent as fast as you can and if I have to play worst Yu-Gi-Oh! I'm gonna play actual Yu-Gi-Oh! because at least there I have hand-traps that allows me to interact with my opponent during their turn instead of having to sit there and watch them combo off/try kill them faster than they kill me/cheat even more mana than they do to summon a huge board that's near impossible to remove. I legit feel like the 10th anniversary marks the DEATH of the hearthstone I knew and loved for over 7 years, Combo/OTKstone isn't the reason why I like playing the game but right it's the only way to play the game.

I think that is explicitly the intent. clearly they are trying to calm things down before rotation.

There have been zero hero divine shield effects that have been good.

the card that up atk give by druide hero power work with him? and if you give your charge minion 10 atk with that isn't that just win?
Artanis is good even if you ignore the discount in some decks has its 6 face damage and a great heropower

A Druid going second can coin, innervate, double pylon, and then play Artanis turn one. 1 in a billion scenario but would be so tilting

By 7 warrior already has either 20 armor or 6 taunts in the way 12 dmg is doing nothing turn 7

My prediction is that they won't nerf any protos card. They would just hall of fame rogue class once and for all.
