    Very economical, even older versions. But personally I'd buy for reliability firstly. Then styling, then overall run cost..Honda has it all thank God!

    Mixed driving can deviate a lot from highway driving. When is it about fuel consumption. by mixed driving I mean city driving with traffic lights and so on and highway driving

    I’d have the petrol all day - lighter and more responsive. The diesel would only make sense if you were doing 100km+ motorway every day.

    Diesels are a better work horse, thats a FACT. So plenty of small journeys, get the petrol. I have never had a petrol car since 1995, and I have never regretted it, mainly because I travel at least 30 miles a day on 60 mph roads (mostly)

    Diesel maintenance is a bit more troublesome too, DPF’s, dual mass flywheels, turbos, I would lean towards petrol more these days.

    • @doolanbrian
      @doolanbrian  4 года назад +1

      Thanks for watching Edward, one thing we have found on these more modern diesels is that touches, flywheels, injectors et cetera don’t seem to be as troublesome as they used to be back around 2010 up until around 2013, but For a lot of people petrol is definitely sensible!

    A little off topic, but do you have any thoughts on HVO? I have read some recent PR stuff from Certa and Circle K about being able to simply put HVO into a diesel engine, no modifications needed??? This seems totally mind blowing to me. If this is true, does it apply to any diesel engine, specifically an i40 diesel engine of 2016? Thanks for any insights you might have. Great videos, straight to the point and always informative

    • @doolanbrian
      @doolanbrian  3 месяца назад +1

      I appreciate you watching! At the moment, I don’t have any insights besides the simple Google information, but the suppliers are adamant that vehicles require no modification so we can only assume that the HVO provides the same level of lubrication and the same combustion parameters as regular diesel.. unfortunately it will be one of those things that the proof is in the pudding so when people have started using it for two and three years and vehicles are not suffering any related issues, then we can be more certain, but at the moment the producers seem confident.🙂👍

  • @Andersljungberg

    Now you were driving much slower than the average person driving on the road. here in Sweden there are many who drive from 120 km / h to 130 km / h. Even though the maximum speed limit on Swedish motorways is 110km / h. The average person also tends to accelerate. ie they do not run so smoothly

    We are looking for a family car, max 20k budget, max 20,000 km a year.
    The petrol civics are more expensive at the moment.
    Which is a better option/buy?
    The 1.6 diesel or 1.5 petrol
    Any suggestions

    Hi Brian, is there much of a difference in the Diesel Civic between the Manual and Auto gearbox?

    • @doolanbrian
      @doolanbrian  Месяц назад +1

      Fuel economy is much the same, the automatic feels a little bit faster, but only because it has more gears to go through, in reality, it’s much of a muchness

    Does not an average petrol car consume about 0.8 liters per 10 km? . Then the proportion of ethanol in the fuel can also affect
