Heyyyy plzz leave a comment of another Eloy video I should check out or any other band/ drummer I should react to. Gonna do a whole bunch of reactions in the new year and want to add some more to the list! Also sub if u get a chance help me get to 5k!
OMG I can't believe I almost went a whole video without reccing Kevin Paradis! 😱 He just dropped a new live video, too! His footwork is really interesting on this one. Some really interesting patterns and his signature single-foot blasts (left foot and right foot). The dude is CRISP! The YT title of the video is: "BENIGHTED - "Morgue" - Live Drum Cam"
Eloy does a cover of a meshuggah song that they never play live because its too hard called Marrow and its absolutely bonkers (he adds more ghost notes to a song entirely defined by the ghost note groove without overdoing it), and not only plays the song perfectly but beats the shit out of his kit at the same time and it sounds phenomenal. Highly recommend you check it out at some point even if we dont get a reaction out of it.
38 year metal drummer here, Eloy is the man. He's holds the bench. Means to an End- Sepultura, is a ridiculous song, obviously anything Slipknot is great but I believe The One was due sickest out of his vids. You can't pick a bad one from him. Just found your channel. New subscriber! Keep it up.
Heyyy brother thanks so much for the sub eh, I really appreciate it and I’m gonna add that one to the list and get to it in the new year. I’m a 39 year old jazz drummer but I think I’m transition in to metal. Played a bit when I was a kid but tryin to go full force. 💪💪💪
Heyyyyy welcome back great to see u again and thanks so much, it’s a lot of fun and I think I’m almost ready to full transition to a metal drummer lol. Love from Canada! ♥️♥️
Another great react! Congrats on the triggers, they're super fun to play with... and have fun pulling the perfect bass drum sample! :P as for recommends, i don't know a lot about Eloy, but i DO know that Opeth dropped a new album with a new drummer and it's sick as hell. He does really good playthroughs of two songs off the album. If you don't know Opeth, it's like jazzy prog metal and very classy! Anyway this video is a good one to check out: "Opeth - 'Paragraph One' - Waltteri Väyrynen Drum Playthrough Video"
That’s awesome and ya I’m stoked to start trying different sounds thanks so much! Great to see u again too bro! Ehhh do u know of good samples I should try for the triggers maybe. I’m definitely struggling lol. Just using the sounds from the EAD box I have. 🤷♂️🤷♂️
@@yarpyarp85 ahhh man it's been close to twenty years since I was in the game, so to speak... I wouldn't even know where to start lol. I used an old (new at the time) Roland SPDS Sampler and a Roland RT-10K trigger on a single bass drum (PDP X7 kit) with an Axis A-longboard double pedal. Got pretty quick with it just doing single-strokes! But I can't for the life of me remember what bass sample I used. Probably a FruityLoops preset that I juiced up in Cakewalk lmao
Hello from italy Matt😁, i have two suggestion for the next reaction, both song are from the last sepultura album, the first one is "means to an end" if u want more groovy stuff and the second one is "isolation" that is more brutal and fast. You can find both song on eloy channel
Great React!! i dont know if you into this stuff, but the videos from drumeo with eloy are crazy good, the one where he learns a mastodon song in less than half hour is awesome, as well the one where he listen a song from vulfpeck one time (for the first time) and then make his version is also crazy good!!
My favorite Eloy song is Means to an End if you wanna check out that one. Also, another drummer I would love to see you check out is Jason Rullo from Symphony X. There's a full live video of him playing the song Iconoclast here on youtube that is worth a watch.
This comment is 100% true! He had elements of both of those amazing players and there is that extra grind that he adds to it. So much power and intent in every performance! 🤘🤘🤘🤘
I have a recomandation: Autem, from Sepultura. Tem uma linguagem equiparável ao Jazz por conta do uso da muitas notas com os membros superiores (caixa e pratos). Além de tudo, ele mescla vários estilos brasileiros. Vale muito a pena!
There are so many great drummers out there it's hard to pick but there are performances that stick in your brain like self taught Alex Ruddinger "Zenomorph playthrough " ,Gergo Borlai "Zildjian live performance ",Delta Empire covering Nine Inch Nails "Perfect Drug " & Marco Minnimen from the Aristocrats if you like precision drumming
Dude thank u so much for this! I have meant to react to Alex for a really long time and this is a great reminder. Also Gergo is literally one of my favourite drummers ever. Also love Marco! Thanks for the comment brooo 🤘🤘
@@yarpyarp85Don't overlook Delta Empire - not sure if your familiar with him but he has a massive amount of amazing drum covers with his musicality & ideas on the kit makes him the best I've seen so far. He takes on the hardest covers & all professionally recorded in his studio all while wearing a mask hiding his identity - "The Perfect Drug " was written with overlapping programmed drums & was never meant to be played live & he nails it ! (worth a look )
If you're looking for metal suggestions, then his "Desperate Cry" drum cam posted by sickdrummermagazine, but if you want something closer to jazz, I'd highly recommend his project "Casagrande & Hanysz", songs like "To not belong" and "Hope Refuge" Cheers!
Ah man, This vid of him is ok. Now if you want a beast version of Eloy you MUST watch " [Drum Cam] Eloy Casagrande - Means To An End (Sepultura) ". This studio session is insane. There are a few for this session.
sudden thought.did Eloy get more focus on the hard hitting style , after joining Sepultura ? Igor Cavalera's Style was also pretty Hard (In my opinion)
Dude could be but I’m pretty sure I saw clips of him as a kid and he’s smashing the drums even then. But he definitely is one of the hardest hitters out there. My gawd he hits hard. 🤘🤘🤘
Totally valid question...but he was always a heavy hitter. You can search for his videos before 2011 (when he joined Sepultura) and check for yourself. Iggor is an inspiration for almost every Brazilian metal drummer, albeit not the most skilled but certainly creative, so it might have had an effect on Eloy's development.
I don't think anyone in the metal genre would disagree that Eloy is the best metal drummer, and has been for a very long time now. Absolutely built different.
My friend I have to agree completely. Brazilian music has such a deep history and the samba music systems bring such a unique feel to there drummers. Absolutely love samba and Brazilian music! 🤘🤘

Please man, please check out his new stuff with slipknot. There is a video in his channel called "scissors" Live with slipknot. Please, react to that.
I vote for scissors too

Excellent video mate!
Picture looks so good
😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁
In Brazil, we have a joke that one day he will be arrested for physical assault against his drum kit.
Hahahah or murder!

why can't jazz drummers do blast beats?
I can 💪💪
