I did the same only I went from iPhone 4 to S3. However once I used Nexus phones and eventually Pixel phones I came to absolutely loathe Samsung’s software experience.
I remember testing the s6 when it came out in stores and was pleasantly surprised to finally see a Samsung phone perform well and not lag. The UI was also much nicer. Got the S7 next year and that ran really well as well for a while, but the phones still didn’t age too well when it came too software updates and once the battery got degraded the phone felt extremely slow. Still S6 was a good turning point and I could finally recommend Samsung phones for those that liked it’s features and still wanted a phone that performs well enough. I never liked the curved sides either! This year made me sooo happy when the s21 plus was released :) I missed the flat screen of my s6 sooo much, and I'm glad samsung returned to there roots giving us a choice once again!
I remember how horrible the battery life was on my s6 back in the day, really ruined my experience with the phone which was a shame cause it's such a beautiful phone
I had an S6 back in the day and loved it for the screen, fingerprint sensor, the camera and the looks. Later gave it to my mother and she has had it until last week. Got her a new mobile since she found that the battery was lasting too little, which ironically it is something that many already said at day one of ownership back in 2015... I got the S6 back to have it as a spare and good thing that long ago I bought a case with battery (which my mother never liked nor used) and now I'm sort of enjoying it so many years later. The QHD AMOLED screen is quite nice and it isn't very fast but fast enough to use with a tiny bit of patience, it still is more powerful than some low range mobiles that you can buy new today. Software certainly is outdated, Android 7 and even worst a security patch from June 18... Hard to understand a security patch that outdated in a flagship phone when the very same Samsung released last security patch for their low range tablet TAB A6 (2016) in April 2020. They gave a low range device an extra year over a flagship one, makes little sense. I installed the Nova Launcher with a modern icon pack so at least looks fresher.
Well, I´m currently using an S7 edge (don´t like the edges neither, but the phone was for free from my grandpa) and stil this thing makes it 1 1/2 days, but coming from my grandpa tells how the battery still is so good. I´m also looking into xda for third party software upgrades, the hardware sure has quite some life left in it.
I had the s6 when it first came out it was a good phone but sold it in 2017 since then i had the s7 s8 s10 plus and now 2 months ago i got the samsung s20 FE thats the phone i use now.
I had both a samsung galaxy s6 and s6 active and the were both very nice phones but, I have to say samsung could have done a bit more with them. But, I loved both the s6 and the s6 active. I actually loved the old version of the phones but, it's pitty that they couldn't have upgraded to the latest versions like the iphone but, I love samsung they are fantastic and I think that they do much better today. The weird thing that I didn't know is that they had that cool green color. I had the Golden s6 and I had the white s6 active so, I think samsung also does unexpected things. But they are great. Thanks for the video man. I'm not too happy to hear that it wasn't as good as the s5 but, it's technologywise. But thanks Josh. Your videos rule man! God bless.
I replaced my bricked S6E G925A with a S20FE in 1/21. That said, I liked the camera on the G925A. Swapping batteries is difficult but not impossible. The charging port is prone to failure over time, but the daughter board is easily replaced, once the back glass is off. Good thing it has wireless charging! It is a shame that it is stuck with 7.0 OS, because some apps are no longer compatible. The above said, these things are cheap today, and still useful, especially as a spare.
I remember I was still rocking a Galaxy S3 at the time and desperately wanted that S6 edge. I’m so glad I couldn’t afford to get it and instead got introduced to the Nexus line. After using a nexus I hated Samsung from that moment on.
Had one of these back in 16. Sold it about 3 weeks after I got it. on my 2nd S21 now..... First one just randomly stopped sending power to the screen in any way shape or form... Thanks, Samsung.
This isnt the phone you want to use anymore?! . Dude I have the S6 Edge plus and is still more then capable to do anything you need and sometimes way better then even 2021 phones. Also the battery on them hold up good, atleast on mine it at 80% of its original capacity so yeah, compare to someones iphone bought 2 years ago that went to 60% battery life I think my old crap phone wins. The camera still has potential , i can't do to much since its exposure is limited but man for a 2015 phone camera this looks better then some of the newer phones that pop up in 2022.
I just bought a refurbished s6 from eBay for $80, and it gets delivered tomorrow. I know it's 2021, and you guys may think I'm crazy, but I'm coming from a Moto G 2021. So that's an improvement for me. Plus, it was only $80
Well, if you install a custom rom with good battery optimization you can actually use it as a daily driver since it's hardware can handle android 10 perfectly fine and smoothly.
My first android phone. After I realized that the 5 C's in the iPhone 5C meant; cheap, chintzy, crap, crummy, and cheap, I burned my bridges with iOS and haven't looked back.
I still have the s6 Edge gold it's beautiful to look at, the right size and weight for a phone. I love the led lights to show you messages which are not on any phone in recent years.
Why add a feature and then take it away? Water resistance, in a prior model but not a newer one? That aside, the main reason I stray away from Samsung is due to their lack of long term support. This phone shows my point exactly. Also, my ex had one of these, maybe the "active" model? It wasn't terrible, but tended to get hot, and also screen burn-in was obvious. I could see where the notifications and keyboard sit quite clearly.
I had the S6. It was my first Samsung phone. I was in desperate need of a new phone since my Nexus 5 stopped taking calls and I was planning my wedding soI just took whatever the store had in stock. Used Samsung up until the S10 but switched to Xiaomi and then to iPhone. My wife still uses the S10 and at least Samsung has increased support in recent years even if they are still far from Apple in terms of support.
It's crazy how good the iPhone 6s is today, despite releasing the same year as the Galaxy S6, the iPhone 6s is still on the latest iOS and is actually really good speed wise. I'm not an apple fanboy or anything, but comparing the S6 to the 6s is laughable, it's just embarrassing.
yeah i agree on the updates part but samsung seemed to have fixed the updates on their phones since 2019, also if someone wanted to use their phone for like 6+ years, i recommend they install a custom rom, the ip6s wouldlnt stand a chance against it in that case, also the s6 should be compared to the iP6 (which just got one more major update after the s6), not 6S..
I had the Samsung s6, at was amazing at first with the high-resolution AMOLED display and great design, the performance on release was great, but the battery life was bad. In one year, it was practically unusable; from a charger to charger,. the RAM management was horrible, it couldn't keep any app in multitasking, and the usual Samsung lag started to get more pronounced. It is a shame because it is such a gorgeous design. The double press of the home button gon you instantly the camera which was a great feature. The photos taken were so good for the time.
It was far from the best galaxy phone, poor battery life, display issues, in some cases bootlooping. It was a good jump from the s5, especially the added ram, but the loss of a removable battery was the beginning of the end, thoough the s7 I think was the best one.
Bought this one in 2015 had it for 3 years and then, the fall on the concrete happened and that was it. Now 3 years later I'm with the a5 2017, but will switch to realme 7i.
This is one of my favorite phones I loved how it felt in the hand, how it looked and the screen was amazing. I am thinking of picking up one just for fun and to use my Gear VR again. They go for about $60 used.
I loved my s6 edge but the battery was SO BAD it would last like 2 hours on a full charge. Switched to an iPhone XR in 2019 and I’m still using that. The battery is SO MUCH BETTER.
What do you think of the Galaxy S6 & S6 Edge? Were they underrated? Was the hate justified due to the removal of so many classic features?

I just inherited a barely used one, looks really pretty but I just am not sure what to do with it
Its Still Usable But Consider Rootimg and Custom Romimg it
Well, I´m currently using an S7 edge (don´t like the edges neither, but the phone was for free from my grandpa) and stil this thing makes it 1 1/2 days, but coming from my grandpa tells how the battery still is so good.
I bought an 6S edge a few weeks ago just for my collection. Still works fine but thr battery is obviously shocking. 😂
God bless.
Watching on an S6. Repaired the battery by myself and using the phone isn't too bad. I use it on Wi-Fi at home when my S21 is charging 😁
Nice 👍😁 awesome combo
welp they got what they wanted... rip sd card
:(
sony still has it
@@onkelklaujo they removed the headphone jack, glass back, high res display, SD card, MST, charger and the mechanical light adjustment
@@ashtong85 The new Sony Xperia III 1, 5 and 10 have MicroSD card support, Headphone jack etc
I have a Note 5, which was released the same year as that.
It sucks.
Looks good though.
I have friend that has this phone with android 10 Custom rom and installed google camera on it it still is good phone
He did battery replacement too
I replaced my bricked S6E G925A with a S20FE in 1/21.
I ordered a S6 Edge + on eBay for my collection
Keep up the good work man I love your channel!!
I'm still using mine right now
Had one of these back in 16. Sold it about 3 weeks after I got it. on my 2nd S21 now..... First one just randomly stopped sending power to the screen in any way shape or form... Thanks, Samsung.
Was galaxy s6 introduced samsung pay or was the s7
They also removed USB 3, the extra pins on the S5 were for micro USB 3.0, you could buy a 3.0 cable for faster transfers.
I had one, it was beautiful. Unfortunately I had the phone reception problem that many others also did. Had difficulty retaining cell connection.
Make a video about the S10plus in 2021, I have had it for about 10 months and it STILL performs very well
My first android phone. After I realized that the 5 C's in the iPhone 5C meant; cheap, chintzy, crap, crummy, and cheap, I burned my bridges with iOS and haven't looked back.
Apart from battery life, I was happy with my Galaxy four until it died 2 months ago. ... Fold 2 for then win. :)
I put Lineage android 11 on my Edge and it's good enough to be a daily driver and it is SIMPLE to do
I still have the s6 Edge gold it's beautiful to look at, the right size and weight for a phone.
9:07 the first 64 bit cpu in a Galaxy device is Exynos 7 Octa 5433 on the Galaxy Note 4
Watching on my s7edge ❤❤❤❤
I had the S7 edge in 8th grade, I’m in 10th grade now and I have an iPhone 8
S6 active?
@@RandomGuy-om1vy The iP 6 was 2014. Should be compared to the S5
@@farrelarrayyan2821 the ip6 was sept 2014, s6 march 2015, ip6s october 2015..
You’re not alone in not liking the curved edge.
Something nobody asked for.
I did.
I love it on my note 8
I hated them too. I love the 20fe because of the flat screen.
I still have the s6 edge as my Secondary device, the mobile is great,i just love it!If the battery was good i still would've used it as my main device
I have had the Samsung galaxy s6 since 2020 then I got a upgrade to the Samsung galaxy note nine ultra Samsung's good phone am happy
Can i get your old display from the Samsung s6
It was far from the best galaxy phone, poor battery life, display issues, in some cases bootlooping. It was a good jump from the s5, especially the added ram, but the loss of a removable battery was the beginning of the end, thoough the s7 I think was the best one.
this and s7 edge are still a beast
S6 with android 11 custom ROM with s7 edge battery mod is amazing.
I got this phone when I was 12 years old in 8th grade, and now that I'm 18 years old in college, I want to get this phone for sentimental purposes.
Could you do a galaxy note since Samsung has discounted it
The supposed Galaxy Note 21 ended up being the Galaxy S21 Ultra with S Pen.
Bought this one in 2015 had it for 3 years and then, the fall on the concrete happened and that was it. Now 3 years later I'm with the a5 2017, but will switch to realme 7i.
FYI- I did dop mine down the toilet. Bought a new phone, checked the s6 8 months later, and it works fine. Now have a spare.
This is one of my favorite phones I loved how it felt in the hand, how it looked and the screen was amazing. I am thinking of picking up one just for fun and to use my Gear VR again. They go for about $60 used.
Can you review Sony XZ2 ? 😀
I still have my Samsung Galaxy S6 ❤ My S Series collection. My S8, S10plus and s21ultra5G. And my Note 20 ultra 5G.
They need to bring back edge phones, I love the way the screen used to have a 3D type of look, flat is just boring
I loved my s6 edge but the battery was SO BAD it would last like 2 hours on a full charge. Switched to an iPhone XR in 2019 and I’m still using that. The battery is SO MUCH BETTER.
