    Nice job. Enjoyed the video.
    Several years ago, I had a similar design. But, I used a reflective metal sheet, which eliminates the step of applying mylar film. Also used bearings around the pipe, mounted on the end panels. So, the reflector pivoted around the stationary water pipe (angled towards the south, at the # degrees from the Equator). Then, with the reflector balanced around the pivot point, a small DC motor (controlled with 2 photo resistors and an Arduino NANO) can be used to track the sun. This solar tracking assembly can be built for less than $50.
    Also, a standard thermostat valve from a car engine can be used at the hot water output to optimize the water flow through the parabolic reflector, so a small dc pump (with automatic pressure shutoff and expansion tank) can be used at the cold water input to 'feed' the solar heater.
    A system such as this is ideal for hot water tanks and in-floor radiant heating.😎

      Can you give me the reflective angle pls

    • @TheOleHermit
      @TheOleHermit 2 года назад +6

      @@uwulaanbar9176 There is no set angle, because the sun changes its vertical angle from summer to winter and the horizontal angle changes from morning to sunset. The parabolic mirror tracks the sun horizontally throughout the day, reflecting the sunlight onto the water/fluid pipe, like a reflective lens focused on the pipe, opposite side from the sun.
      The pipe is best set at 90 degrees to the angle of your local midday sun at winter to optimize it under the worst scenario.

      @@donsuji1658 Thank you for your interest. However, life happened, so I never had the opportunity to build the monolithic dome home to complete the project and didn't do a cost analysis. But, I believe in its feasibility, because of it's simplicity.
      The solar tracker circuits are available on Amazon:

    Only the tiny qty of water in the pipe will get heated, the rest will not because there is basically no convection path for the hot water. As soon as that runs out you will get cold water. I would remove the tap and take the heated water back into reservoir, and put the tap on the reservoir. As a bonus insulate the reservoir (say inside lots of coconut fiber or styrofoam), and you'll have hot water even when the sun temporarily disappears, or in the evening.

    • @randypratt2887

    One summer when the hot water heater in my motorhome went out, I heated my water by simply using a very black garden hose connected to the water source. It was so scorching in the shower, I had to mix the cold water with it to keep from being boiled alive. I am not sure how that would have played out in the winter, but being in the Deep South, Summertime Sun was more than adequate.

      This was my immediate thought looking at this; be very careful how you align it.

    • @petes2559
      @petes2559 Год назад

      The thermal degradation and ignition point of wood and plywood may be generalized by the following: 230° to 302° F (110° C to 150° C): The wood will char over time with the formation of charcoal. If the heat is not dissipated there is some possibility of spontaneous combustion. I doubt this device will get that hot and it has a lot of heat dissipation.

    • @antontaylor4530
      @antontaylor4530 Год назад

      @@petes2559 The slightest misalignment and you will get a hotspot on that wood that could easily exceed those temperatures.
      The fact that the mirror is parabolic and focuses the sun is the problem here. There are plenty of RUclips videos of people starting fires with parabolic mirrors, you don't want to do that accidentally because you didn't want to spend a few pennies protecting the wood with a piece of mylar or aluminium foil.

  • @kerry9125

    I doubt this would provide much hot water, as the water flowing from the bottle would quickly cool the pipe. Painting the pipe and the water bottle black would help. Using a larger diameter pipe would help also; this would increase the amount of water that stays in the pipe and increase the amount of metal to absorb the solar heat.

    • @ajarivas72
      @ajarivas72 Год назад

      A smaller diameter will result in less hot water but at higher temperature

    • @petes2559
      @petes2559 Год назад

      The output water temperature is totally dependent on how fast you get it to flow through the pipe. Much of the heat loss is radiated off the top of the pipe so a high temp insulation on the top of the pipe would help. Something like mineral wool with a melting point of 2150 F glued on with ST-1000 thermal glue can withstand temperature up to 950°C or 1742°F. Problem solved.

    As a demonstration this is ok, but if you replace the plastic bottle with an insulated metal tank ( an old hot water heater for example) at the top and plumbed the bottom outlet to the tank also the water would circulate when heated and the tank would get very hot. As it is insulated it would store the heat.

    Лучше будет убрать провисание шланга между нагревателем и коллектором. Напрямую - будет лучше проход теплой наверх и холодной вниз воды. А так - теплая вода блокируется.
    В прямом виде эта бутылка работает лучше как коллектор (это планировалось, ведь отражатель сделан под углом к поверхности).
    Еще я бы сделал нагревающуюся трубу больше, пару дюймов. И зайчиков больше поймает и конвекция внутри больше.
    Как вариант можно пропустить внизу доп.трубу (шланг) от крана до низа емкости. А забор воды из ёмкости сделать с верхнего уровня - там вода горячее.
    ну и конечно, следует зачернить трубу нагревателя таким образом, что бы толщина покрытия была минимальной и смотреть не по цвету а по теплоприёму (теплопередаче).

      A black coating to the water tank will help pre-heating too.

    I know it's more complicated but
    If you replace the linear copper pipe with another smaller diameter
    and it gives it the shape of a pier. It will increase the exposure time and with it the water temperature.
    Congratulations

      so the smaller the diameter of the pipe, the hotter it gets due to the heat exposure is more concentrated?

    • @pkillor
      @pkillor 10 месяцев назад

      This is true, but if the diameter is too small, you run the risk of losing some of the radiation in the focal line.
      So one option is to flatten the tube to make it thinner in height but wider at the same time.

    Лучше было бы сделать с замкнутый контуром. Вода нагреваясь поднималась бы вверх, а на место разреженности конвекционно подходила бы холодная вода. Так можно нагревать более объёмные баки с водой. А уже вывод общей подогретой воды через кран сделать отдельно

    why do you use a 50 deg C thermometer and say more than 100 degC??????

    • @jacktam7673
      @jacktam7673 6 лет назад +2

      That is Fahrenheit

      Jack Tam He is asking how OP knows the temperature is 100°C if thermometer doesn't go up that high.
      Kinda leading me to believe this is impractical as well

      Всё верно ! Термометр слаб . Чтобы убить большинство микробов , надо довести воду , хотя бы до 70 градусов цельсия !

      @@user-jc4bw7fq4z Да в этом видео вообще ни черта непонятно. Может эта трубка загодя грелась полчаса, чтобы нагреть один стакан воды. Да ещё и при окружающей температуре +27.

    Just put a long big iron. One part goes outside and one part goes inside. This way you do not need a reflector.

    Im a physicist captain... not a plumber ! No need for soldering faucets or installing pressure relief valves, it's not like water expands when heated...right?

    The pipe on the focal axis. Why is it not painted black? Use small dia long pipe, coiled or multi-loop if needed The effect could have been more pronounced.
    A brilliant job, nonetheless.
    What to do with the water at 100 deg C?
    If you could convert into electricity, it will be a fantastic thing to do.

    yes this is a simple sisteme the primary now you take a boiler with isolation and make the secondary in the boiler you have a copper pipe that make hot 100ltr water at 50grade celcius that is the thermodinamic sisteme
