I started my journey to Helsinki from Singapore, flying with Finnair in Business Class. When I arrived in Helsinki I took the train to the city center and went straight to my hotel, Klaus K Hotel.
My friend Meri picked me up and took me to see some of the must visit sites in the city. From Cafe Regatta, to the Kaisma Museum to Helsinki's Cathedral and many more sites.
For lunch I went to the Old Market Hall to try some crazy fresh salmon. First I tried a few different pieces of raw salmon and to stay warm I decided to eat a salmon soup. The soup was out of control!

Uber is avaible in 2018 and you can use it right now becouse in helsinki it's illegal but some drivers are driving :) so uber is legal in 2018/04
Good stuff, next time July! ;)
Can you come sometime to Kajaani?
A trick : you can watch series at Kaldrostream. Me and my gf have been using them for watching all kinds of movies these days.
@Wilson Deshawn definitely, have been using KaldroStream for since november myself :)
You have the return in summer, TOTALLY different ;) ..Short nights, all green, happy people enjoying the short summer
I know :)
From SIN to HEL(L) 🔥🔥🔥
The likes are 13 I am from Finland when I was young I accidently said Helsinki as *HELLSINKI*
Whoa, you had a close encounter of the honking kind there. Don't mess with Swans, the video almost turned from crazy fresh salmon to crazy fresh David there. I swear, those things will eat your soul if you have the misfortune of aggravating them.
i was in finland twice 2015 and 2016 enjoyed my time there. i did a solo drive from helsinki to savonlinna castle during winter. best drive i ever did. wont forget it
Oh it came out super nice! (although we had terrible weather on our walk 😝) And great drone footage right in the centre, gotta give it to you!
thanks Meri! I know the wind :( Thank you for being such a great guide!!
Like this video. Very natural and informative. The way you present is better than most vlogers.
Gosh there's nothing like snacking on a fresh smoked salmon at the markets. A squeeze of lemon and even better ! I bet salmon in Scandinavia are world class. Thanks for a great video David :)
no problem and yes the salmon is out of this world deliciousness!
You make the best videos! The ones you made about Bosnia were really good. I was there last October-been to a lot of places in the world and Bosnia may be one of my favorite countries. I am going to Helsinki in about 12 hours and saw you had posted this. Thank you for the tip about the train from the airport. I've done some research about Helsinki, but no one else seems to mention anything about the cab prices and lack of Uber. I bet you saved me a bunch of money on an expensive cab ride. Keep up the good work!
Finns, me included, love potatoes. We eat everything with potatoes. The salmon soup is best when you eat with fresh rye bread.
Markku Hänninen I'm a Finn and i absolutely hate potatoes. 👎
puhu suomee
@@ThunderousThrasher :((
I am half finnish and half Thai I'm Asian and I really love sticky rice and some Finnish potatoes
I adore Helsinki, and Finland in general. I was lucky enough to live there for four months about 10 years ago. Couldn't afford a lot of the amazing food there in restaurants as a cash strapped student so will try to go back one day! I did go during the summer so had lovely weather (though it was daylight almost all the time). The sauna experience is a must.
I've been using your videos to plan my Helsinki trip. I just booked a room at the Klaus K. Dope vids. **subbed*
GoJonnieGo Welcome:)
when you live in scorching India and this kind of weather feels like heaven xD
Maybe for a day or two, then you realize the weather is like that for 8 months straight, especially with global warming and warm winters and stuff :D
It's cool! I enjoy this video. Thx.
What a wonderful video on Helsinki, I will be visiting next year Autumn. Greetings from Canada
Helsinki raining cinnamon bun & coffee wow
Going to Finland this Sep, nice video, will surely try the salmon soup
Welcome dude. Good video.
Very nice video tour!
Great video dude.
Amazing trip👍🏼
thanks bro! More to come!!
killer video man, Any tips for a 15 hr Helsinki layover in June?
I love fresh salmon. Whenever my employer provides lunch, I grab about three slices first.
Yummy😊😊
thanks bro! Check out the latest one if you love beer :)
I am planning to do the same... 24 hours layover in helsinki and continue my flight to Budapest the next morning in mid december. I reckon it is easy to get around by myself. What tips would you give David :)
salmon yum
I like to travel also. Glad to see you here.... ohh i love it
you are a great fan! We will link up in Bangkok!
Thanks for showcasing one of our home towns. Probably nicer in the summer, but the salmon soup made November bearable, I bet...
yes dude so worth it :) Love Helsinki!!
Im from Finland
Wowww! Very nice 😍😘
thank you :))))
Salmon,Salmon,Salmon!!!
yes sir!!
you should've gone swimming to that harbour next to market square. it's called cholera basin
Man love your vids man
thank you! Are you subscribed?
Davidsbeenhere heck yeah
Hi, i am visiting Helsinki in October. And i just wondered if you liked Helsinki during the November period?
Oh no this is the worst timing to visit a here 😂😱 summer the best time.. or winter time at north 😍❄️
I have bin in the klaus k this summer 2018
Nice! 👌🏼❄️😀
:)
4 little slices of salmon over 6e. That was a robbery.
around 48ish euros per kilo. I estimate that to have been about 150grams, so it's a pretty standard price in a restaurant. At my job, we sell it for 34,90€/kg
After the change in the taxi regulation taxis to city center are now around 40-50 euros, so it is a little bit cheaper. You should also be able to get an Uber now.
Nice it was relaxing to watch and you're super cute , look like Chris from Coldplay
Just an update to the taxi situation - it's nowadays a little cheaper than what you said. Taksi Helsiki taxies offer a fixed price trip to the city center at 41€ for 1 to 4 people, and 57,30€ in a bigger car for 5 to 8 people. Of course, the train is still the cheapest, so if your hotel is near the central railway station, it's clearly the cheapest way to get there. If your hotel isn't within walking distance of the railway station, then it becomes a question of convenience or cost - what is more important to you?
#FInland! #FINNAIR!
love your country!
+Davidsbeenhere
It's been a "souper" long day today xD
I could live on that salmon! I live on the West Coast of Canada but salmon is more expensive than beef!
Salmon heaven- love it!!
Unfortunately same in Finland. Wild salmon cost almost fortune. Good thing Norwegian cultured salmon is cheaper and more readily available. It doesn't taste good as wild one. Also has it own issues.
I would love to get a set of those Ultima Thule series glassware by Tapio Wirkkala Finnair is using but sadly they are a bit out of my price range. :)
Wow how nice your life is hehe
lol... work hard! play hard!
"We like brunches".Never been :)
I didn't even know that weekend brunches was a thing over here. Maybe it's cuz I've never been to one either :P
November - the worst time to visit Finland.
You looked like Chris Martin in the thumbnail 😊
*note*
That was not the singing swan, but a related species, a mute swan. Considering the English names, it's kind of a funny mistake to make.
just awsm bro...lov ur videos
thank you! Are you subscribed?
ya bro...from the beginning
uber is prohibited in finland, airport has nothing to do with that(law is changing, later this year they can start operating again) Taxi from airport to city center can cost about 42 euros. traffic time little bit more.
Nice
2:38 "it's so cold right now" can't be cold streets are wet.
Mr. Wizeguy - It's the humidity in the air that makes it feel so goddamn freezing cold.
Taksi to the center of Helsinki is 41-43 eur....
Café Regatta is the best place in Helsinki
Try Glögi drink
Samuli Tuikkanen Watch the video.
Great video. But in Finland, a hotel room without sauna is not a suite.
Veli-Pekka Kultanen lol they have a sauna in the hotel just not in each room
I like seafood 😋😋😋😋
me too!
Your tour guide didn't have the facts right. The bird you saw by the sea wasn't the Finnish national bird laulujoutsen (cygnus cygnus), it was kyhmyjoutsen (cygnus olor).
lol she is not a real guide just a friend :)
Just wanted to correct that. That is really common knowledge in Finland.
Maybe it was his luck because laulujoutsen is much more aggressive. :)
How much is the KLAUS K Hotel per night?
I think it's like $250
Kevin P in finland its fucking expensive hotels
Klaus K is in the 10 most expensive hotels here, so...
Compare that to Sokos Hotel Vaakuna, which is really close to this one, and a perfectly decent enough hotel - where you can stay for like 40€/night.
from sin to hel
"Unfortunately there's alcohol in this wine." Said no man. Until now.
Ok you saw Helsinki, its buildings and museums but very little of actual finnish culture. Like every other person says in the comments you come back in the summer, go to someone's summer cottage in the middle of nowhere, fish yourself some perch from a lake and gather potatoes from the backyard, go to sauna, sit on the patio, have a beer and talk to your friends. That's what Finland actually is.
my friend, how do you drink so much beer and still stay fit? please enlighten us poor beer guzzlers 😂
lol I walk more then 6 miles everyday! It's a must to stay fit :)
you complain about the taxi being expensive but travel business and can afford Klaus K? 😂
Sin and hel! Lol
Graavilohi in Finnish, Gravlax in English en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gravlax
I hope you enjoyed it, because that was a rather expensive restaurant trip, from Hong Kong! Fish soup (kalakeitto) can be made of many different fish. It's really called fish soup, not salmon soup. Edit: although I suppose a restaurant might want to make a point what fish it contains, like lohi or made.
Pro tip : the salmon is cured in salt😊
Eric Paloheimo wish you could have been my guide! Lol
Eric Paloheimo Except the cold smoked.
@@XtreeM_FaiL It too has been cured in salt, but only cold smoke afterwards.
Hell* finnish ppl get it
6:00 that's not the national bird of Finland. You've got the wrong species there. That's mute swan, but the national bird of Finland is the whooper swan. It has a yellow beak, and the black part is at the tip of it.
Glögi isn’t wine
Top Things to Do make sure you have enough money to buy anything
Wow your guide is one of those “I live in the center of Helsinki” and that’s all there is in Helsinki. She lives in a bubble. Helsinki is so much more than the center of Helsinki, there’s plenty of suburbs and interesting places outside of the center which obviously your guide has probably never been because she’s too good to leave her special center of Helsinki. It’s a small city for small minded Punavuori people who live in a bubble of their own, for other people from Helsinki there’s so much more than the center and I wouldn’t call a city of 616690 residents that small.
So true. (drove a taxi here for 7 years so I know really what you mean by rööperi-people)
I disagree. There is nothing to see outside of the center in the winter honestly, unless you go to places like Seurasaari or the places with some nature.
You there, please hop back on that train you came on and disappear into the woods. You're embarrassing everyone with your "Hesa" stories.
I would add Helsinki is the worst place to experience Finland.
Luckily Finland is so much more and better than just Helsinki.
You really got ripped of with that salmon. You can buy a whole fresh salmon for like 10-15€.
Yeah well obviously its cheaper fresh but he didnt have 4 days to cure it did he
WTF i am a taxi driver in helsinki and trip to centre cost like 40e,it is fastest and Finnish taxi is pretty reliable. Uber is illegal and that train is never on time or cancelled :) get your specs right ;)
Be careful eating Salomon if its caught in the baltic sea, i dont remember why but you shouldnt eat it more than 3 times a year
Ballong Pappan its basically never caught in the baltic sea. Mostly norwegian
If you eat salmon caught in the baltic sea more than 3 times a year, the salmon's loved ones will come after you and they will eat your soul for sure. Don't make the same mistake that I did. Now I'm a madman sitting in a wheelchair.
It's Töölönlahti not toolonlahti XD
