Gonna make you jelly. I once worked at an arcade. I can also get a crowd around me when I play Pacman and get to level 20 on Galaga.
Tekken Tag was great. For FPS, Time Crisis, House of the Dead, and Revolution X.
Crazy Taxi was great too.
And for multi-player, TMNT 2, Gauntlet Legends, D&D, and the Simpsons.
Ugh lucky!
I spent alot of time playing Mr. Do back then. I still play it to this day. Man, I remember playing Donkey Kong, Pengo, Burgertime, Kung Fu, Ghost n Goblins, Tiger Heli and so much more! Truly, those were the good old fun days!
Thanks for giving us some great nostalgic memories with your awesome videos! 💪
Thank you for taking the time to watch it! I appreciate it more than you think!
Donkey Kong,Pac Man,Galga, Centipede,Spy Hunter my top 5 favorite arcade games.
Atari had a chokehold on my childhood lol
Spy Hunter! Yes! 😀
Dark Seal (as Gate of Doom) was a favorite when I was a kid. The campground my family went to every summer had a small arcade, and I have a lot of fond memories of that, also Gauntlet 2, Legendary Wings and Rygar. They also had an Operation Wolf cabinet and a few others I never bothered with, but those stay in my memory 30+ years later. There's a sequel (Wizard Fire in the US) that's worth playing.
That said, to your comment that it gets overshadowed by Capcom's D&D games, I agree that it does, but it's not undeserved. the Capcom D&D games are my all time favorite arcade games, and came out years after Dark Seal, so it stands to reason they should be better. Without the Data East jank too; I do love DE games, but they always feel like low budget versions of other games I love
That's an EPIC backstory. Thank you for sharing it! Legendary wings is SO fun, all of those are great.
It's a long shot, but in Persona 3 Reloaded, there is a game in the arcade called Quiz Game, which was basically Wizz Quiz. I wonder if that was a reference, I mean how many arcade quiz games could there be? They could have done any number of things to do that extra knowledge building, so I cant help but wonder.
Anyways, even as a kid I had a bias towards horror and RPGs, so there weren't a ton of arcade games I was interested in playing. In fact I probably spent most of my time on House of the Dead, when I actually got to go to the arcade. There was also a street fighter 2 cabinet in Walmart. For some reason there was a dude in there one day that taught me that Ken and Ryu had differences and that blew my MIND.
Alot more than you would think, roughly 120, significantly more of a presence in Japan.
Calico made arcade games.. wow. Did not know. Didn't know about most of these games. Thanks for letting me know.
You bet! I'm sure I'll mention Jaleco more!
There's also Cotton, Fantasy Zone 2 DX: The Tears of Opa Opa, The Revenge of Death Adder, Rad Rally, F1 Super Lap, Slipstream, Scud Race, Metal Slug X, Metal Slug 3, Zaxxon, Super Gem Fighter Mini Mix, Burger Time, The Real Ghostbusters (superior over the original non-IP Japanese release), and Super Astro Fighter.
You might see a few of these in a future list ;)
I really like your top ten videos. I look forward to them. Thanks for the fun
Awesome, thank you! It means alot to hear that!
If anyone was interested in arcade puzzles; they'd potentially be interested in Super Puzzle Fighter 2 X, Puzzle Bobble, and Cleopatra Fortune.
However, I'd say that Puzzle Bobble is better on the Neo Geo CD and the other two for Saturn and Dreamcast.
Super puzzle fighter was my JAM
Galaga is one of my favorite arcade games as well. Have you ever played Crime Fighters? That’s pretty fun to play it is a beat’um. That’s awesome that your father got you into video games. My father didn’t play them.
That does sound familiar!
I'm sure your father would be proud, regardless of Galaga performance =) Keep up the cool videos!
I would hope so :)
I used to get Down on Desert War back when i had Sega Channel.
Are you sure it wasn't Desert Strike? Lol. I don't recall Desert War getting a port.
I was a sucker for shmups in the arcade that had lots of power ups
Oh absolutely the same!
Nice to see some love for Sonic Wings. The series gets overlooked by a lot of shmup fans. Oh, and I gotta ask, what from Galaga is your tattoo?
I have 1 fighter, and two of the fly looking bugs, one has a halo over it to remember my dad.
Great list dude, keep up the good work.
Thanks for the kind words! Thank YOU for continuing to watch them!
on Galaga i would let myself get captured just so i could have double shot
Same! Still do to this day :)
one of the top 10 arcade games that I played when I was a kid is Virtua Racing
I struggled with getting my foot to reach the damn gas but I "planked" while playing 😂 I'd always head to the put stop when other kids where around me watching then look at them like "😎 sup? it's my crew 😎" and they were all like "😮 how did you do that?! 🤯" 😂😂
Anyways, this game never got a true arcade version release. it came to the genesis, then 32X then the Saturn then the PS2 but it stopped (to my knowledge)
not of the releases where the arcade version or better 😢
but finally, at last, SEGA did it with their last (and final 😢) round of SEGA AGES line of re-releases, I immediately bought the switch version and OH. MY. GOD. 😮 It's perfect 😭 it's the same game I played in that smelly greasy cabinet 🤩
nowadays, my name setup isn't in a PC, it's on iOS! yep you read that right. I've sideloaded RetroArch and it works perfectly up to but not including the Dreamcast on my non jail broken iPad. I push the button on ipads companion PS4 controller, and start playing. surprisingly it has played every arcade game I've asked it 😮 of course given that you set it up right and all 😊
Virtua Racing is REALLY fun!
Dude I always play Galaga if I see it in an arcade, fun and challenging. Funny you mention you have a Galaga Tattoo I have a Pac-man one. The Strikers Psikyo games are some of my favorite shooters, I think part 3 is hard as fuck though.
I also have a pac-man one lol. I have Tetris, Donkey Kong, Sinistar, 1942, Galaga, and Asteroids on my left arm. If you pop in to the stream ask to see it, I'll show it!
Capcom. They spent a large part of the 90’s and the oughts self-plagiarizing. They kept on re-releasing the same five or six games reskinned.
Oh easily, and it worked for them lol.
@@Fortefyre they ran on the merit ''if it ain't broke don't fix it''.
Absolutely!
Magic sword
I'll have to check it out!
Ah, Desert War. The game that stole the pilot chatter from the Top Gun movie!😂
Is THAT WHERE IT'S FROM!?!?! I THOUGHT I recognized it lol.
@@Fortefyre Some of it.
Did you ever play knights of the round?
On the SNES a long time ago!
Here’s my hot take for the day: I loved the PAC Man cartoon from a few years ago, and the platformers that were made for it.
The 80s PacMan cartoon was great too. Inky was my favorite Ghost Monster,he was silly and likeable even if he was a bad guy. Barry Goldman did a terrific job voicing him!
I'm a little bit too young for that! Haha.
@@mikeburkhart8336 I only ever saw the Christmas special of the original, so I’ll have to take your word for it.
@@mikeburkhart8336Barry Gordon is his name. He was the voice of the Quik Rabbit and Donatello and Bebop from the original TMNT cartoon.
@@bildo1977 Right,my mistake. Still, his Inky voice was really funny. Too bad it doesn't get more recognition.
