This year is easily the worst year for gardens in the last 20 years or so. I have a huge garden with over 80 tomato varieties and I grow all plants by myself. This year was a struggle since the spring was very cold, then we get very hot weather and now we are having a lot of rain.
Also a small tip. Regarding peppers(sweet or hot), I personally gave up on growing them in the garden and have them all in their pots. The plants are double the size and so is the yield. From all vegetables, they seem to be the pickiest when it comes to soil quality.
Also the tomatoes seem to need some pruning from the video. Most varieties grow best if you remove the suckers and only leave one or two main growing points since otherwise, you get a bushy growth, the plants shade each other and the fruits don't develop as well. You also are at a higher risk of diseases, since the plants need longer to dry off after rain.
Final tip, if you know of a mushroom farm nearby try to see if they sell the soil after they collect the mushrooms. That's normally the cheapest way of getting very good quality soil for veggies and you have a very low risk of getting any diseases or pests with it.
