I just don't understand how the makers of these tutorials figure this stuff out on their own.
University 3d modeling/rendering etc.

By watching lots of youtube tutorials and doing it themselves! Eventually you can connect ideas and come up with something new, or just do a better tutorial of an existing idea that already has tutorials on it.

Maybe you could try doing some Super power effects such as fire coming out of your hands or ice coming out of your hands or freezing flowing water. those would be pretty awesome 😎

I've been using blender for over a decade and while I have come up with a multitude of ways to achieve realistic lightning.. not one of them is even half as efficient as this..

These are the kind of tutorials I am looking for. Complex stuff, quick, to the point, no fuss and above all, not wasting half of the video explaining what the default cube is in a tutorial for a procedual volume shader....
