Hey everyone, here is the link to the Discovery channel video. Thank you all for watching, I know its not exciting but a lot of people asked for a video on reclamation. Spelling mistake at 10:00 lol ruclips.net/video/aVtxj1kbHXc/видео.html
It's great seeing videos on this part of mining, Thank you!!! This subject and the lack of it on shows like Gold Rush, has come up many times on my Live Stream, Tuesday Night Hangout Live. If you Don't MINE it, You Grow It... Both Mining and Farming of food or Tember are essential to our excitants. If not for them we would be back in the stone age and living in caves.
Hey Red!! That is very true. Not exactly sure why they don't show more on the television shows but I would assume it would be it to please the masses of wanting the drama style content.
Very true my friend, there would be no technology without gold and silver. Tell that to the people against mining while they drive their Tesla’s around talking on their cell phones… If only they could see how much trash/led we remove also from dredging the rivers… Keep up the great work and content! My new favorite mining channel
As someone with a background in forestry it makes me uneasy seeing sites “replanted”. I think I would rather just see it leveled and left. Maybe with a burn. In the Pacific Northwest it grows back so fast anyway.
Oddly enough forestry is in the middle of not allowing burn piles up here. Chipping company's now come in chip and haul away any left over brush, non merchantable timber and waist. I see other regions still do burn piles though....
@@TheMiningChannel They logged one of my favorite trails in Washington. First I was horrified but it recovered fast. Animals apparently do better with more open spaces. I still think I would burn whatever is left. Morels thrive on burned areas for a tangible justification.
@@TheMiningChannel After a 🍺 I started thinking that’s nuts! Unless you calculate the nutrients you are removing and add it back to the system you are killing it. Free range cattle are not a solution.
@naughtiusmaximus830 Your guys forests are damn near the same as ours aren't they? Same type of terrain, trees and vegetation? Our old growth trees only seem to reach 100 years old then they die and fall, the largest trees only reach 30-40 inches in diameter.
Great video. Found it through a link from Dan Hurd. I have followed several prospectors over the years and knew some of the regulations you guys have to follow but it was really interesting to see a more detailed video about the post mining regs. Thank you.
Excellent video. I live in Hope BC and spend as much time possible in the beautiful back country that is at our doorstep. To be honest it is rare for me to find any leftover metal, garbage ect left by old miners. Unless I use map place and go looking for older mines, then you will find evidence of old mines. then is becomes more like finding artifacts, a window to the past if you will? You have put something out there that needs to be seen!!!! All of the treehuggers that live in the concrete jungle really have no idea about the work it takes to a reclamation of any mining or logging sites. I hope they see this video. Once again, an excellent video. Keep up the good work.
@TheMiningChannel You do a great job making these videos. If you were not a miner you could find a job in film. Some people just like getting dirty though 🫵
Looks like you haven't been active in a bit, but I wanted to say thanks for this video anyway. I've been looking for a way to return to the independance I had when I ran a small construction company, I just run heavy equipment in civil and mining now after moving up to PG and it seems like work is always spotty and I'm always sitting around watching the bank account drain in the winter. I've worked in hard rock mining and placer mining really appeals to me but wading through the endless bureaucracy is painful. You answered several questions I had in plain English and I am grateful for that! It's definitely not an easy career to break into (especially financially), the government has made sure of that, but I'll be doing some prospecting in the spring even if it's just for fun.
Well said Tyler, and very nicely produced. Modern, responsible mining is no more damaging to the environment than moving a few rocks around. More work is needed to ensure that the rules in BC go worldwide and everyone follows your example.
Thanks a lot TD! It is so easy to do it the way BC does it. Sadly enough there a lot of mines around the area that don't get reclaimed. Typically they are from larger companies that go bankrupt, but they will get mined again and reclaimed anyways. the one large site in the video is a perfect example of that. that site is my dream claim..... I will mine it one day....
Excellent video Tyler. Regardless of your reclaimed ground being all in a row up the creek or all over BC with 6 hour drives between, the fact that you got up to date footage of proper reclamation proves where your heart truly lies. The ground is supposed to pay you a couple Canadian pesos when you squeeze it hard enough and that's why it's your duty to pay it back with respect. Cheers to you and your hard work doing it the right way. Just remember it's ALWAYS about the gold.... But as you know, it's ALSO about respecting the natural lay of the land and its environment when you're not there. Your commitment to the end goal of leaving the land in good natural condition after the primary goal of getting that gold is a huge testiment of your character. I'll gladly pay your tab at any watering hole 👍
Thanks a lot Spencer those are very kind words. You are right it, is about the gold lol, if it wasn't for that I wouldn't be able to pay the bill for the fuel hahah. Not sure if you want to pay my tab at a bar.... I sure can drink... haha. Thanks for watching:)
Great video, as usual! Very smooth drone footage. From the way you have always spoken in your videos, it is obvious to your real viewers that you take the care of the land to heart, and that your not the type to do the actual minnimum required by codes, when a little extra gets the job done the correct way. In the current state of our world, with the political insanity running roughshod over everything else in life, you will always have some haters and trolls. These same people believe that if your doing anything at all, your harming nature and wildlife, their emotions will over rule any facts you can give most of them. Keep doing it the right way, and thank you for showing everyone that cares, the way you do your work, it's really a great perspective to showcase a less dazzling part of the process. Peace.
Dad worked for Peabody Coal, in N Missouri! Strip mine, and they had to reclaim the land! I haven't been there for yrs, but all the aerial photo's I've seen of the area, show growth, and somewhat resembles prior photos! As big as that seam was, It left scars, but they've made some finger lakes, and fishing has been good in the past!
Very cool! Those coal mines make a huge footprint while running but afterwards those big companies do a good job reclaiming. Priity neat they made lakes out of the area afterwards.
I've always been taught to leave the woods/land better than you found it regardless how it's being used or just trecking thru, every nitch is somethings home.... great job & great expressing your feelings....now grow a prospectors beard, don't let Dan be the only old schooler! Lol! 🌾💪💰🤠
They are that's for sure. The one thing I didn't add in the video was about repairian set back in British Columbia. I had a clip from Goldrush where they are using machinery in the creeks and diverting the water ways but had some copyright issues. In BC we can not go with in 30 feet of the high water mark.... We can not even drive a truck or ATV across them.....different area, different rules I guess.
Nice job Tyler, it’s a pity these videos are needed in some ways but still great to see. Like ewaste recovery understanding how to safely deal with waste solutions is required before you start processing for precious metals, mining is no different, you have to understand the end before you start. With hopefully a payoff in the middle. Thanks for sharing, love the channel. And those shows on Discovery are entertainment not always fact based.
Thanks a lot Jeff. Entertainment get views that's for sure. I still e joy watching those shows even if they don't show it all. I've learned a lot from them.
Excellent video! Been working on getting a Plan of Operation (POO) approved down here in Oregon and as a green miner this gives me an idea of how reclamation should be done.
I like the pride you expressed about your personal reclamations. It’s important for the trade, but also that you approach the opportunity as a steward. You are taking the gold but not biting the “hand that fed you.”

I work as a diamond driller in the states here. I'm fortunate to live and work close to home to several mine and quarries. Some old the old workings you can see clearly from the roads. Others, you can only tell they were ones by looking at old permit records. Drilling gets a bad rap in my area because of the negative connotations with mineral and resource extraction. I tell people "diamond drilling is the least environmentally impactful methods of exploration, and while it could lead to a mine opening, it could also prevent a failed mine from opening. A 3" hole drilled a few dozen or hundred feet deep is a lot smaller than a test pit dug by an excavator." I've drilled in abandoned and unreclaimed mine workings that sometimes were opened back up if profitable for the operator. Of course these old workings will legally have to be reclaimed to modern standards and regulations. It's not uncommon for old quarries to become someone's private camp ground or hunting spot after reclamation.
Both profound and beautiful. I`m finding a small RUclips channel much more interesting and enjoyable than that utter garbage that they feed people... ( No, I do not watch garbage = ) This labour of love should be aired to the masses... Great edit, lovely music, good narration and a genuine message.

Sadly enough Daniel a lot of larger company's that go bankrupt just walk away. the one large site in this video is a example of that. Everything is just sitting there rotting away....
@@TheMiningChannel there should be some way to entice a few landscape specialists to come in and make them awesome like the ones you have that really do looks like parks. Some could actually be made into campgrounds with little mining history placards and stuff, if there is good hiking in the area.
That is nothing to that what happened here in germany, we had a big mining industry in coal, iron ore and even silver, all was shut down, there is nothing more here today ! And even when 50 trees should be removed for a new road or even railway track, there is everywhere a group of green activists protesting and calling the justice for not doing it - we are done here ! Best luck and effort to your business and your channel !
I'm sure it will get that way here one day also. Every year the government throws another tax or rule on us. I give it 10 years and we will be shut down.
Hey Daniel, there is not a list but contracts do come up on the governments website a person can bid on the jobs. the down side is that the majority of these sites are so far gone the bond amount may not cover the costs to reclaim the site. Sometimes the government will seize the miners equipment to recover the loss. The old site I reclaimed for the ministry I was able to get a "vesting order" to take ownership of what was left there.
You can ask the permitting office, sometime they will give the information about bonds, but like Tyler says the bonds often aren't worth much. Can be done more easily if you have the claim and intend to work plus do the previous reclamation.
I’m sorry but all I can remember in this video it seem very nice nuggets dropped into a pan and then put into a jar at the end….😳 😂😂😂😂 jk Man some of those sites were very good looking I would love to just plant a house there and be away from everybody and watch the elk and wildlife roam my front lawn well done excellent video thanks for sharing see you on the next one👍🏼👊🏼
Thanks a lot GJ. That drone footage of them clear cutting was on my claim across from my new site. Thought it was a good opportunity to get some good footage and put it in the video:)
Good job w the video, lots of rules to know and it does make it challenging but the guys that do it properly are the winners. It seemed like it was a darker video than normal? (I had to turn my brightness on my phone way up)
Haters are usually the people who want to make themselves feel good about their bad decisions by pointing the finger at others instead of looking at themselves to fix a problem. Anyone who uses electricity or a vehicle or buys food from a grocery store (along with pretty much anything else that is done in society) is a "miner" even if the never touch dirt in their lives. Great video though highlighting the work that has been done improving reclemation over the hundred plus years of mining history in BC though 👍
If it is done correctly it can be done with impact in mind. The site should be as close to untouched when done. We all know that is not 100% possible but it sounds like in this man's area, it is as close as it gets. In WV, where coal was king, this is def rare. Worked strips back in my 20s...it is rarely reclaimed well. If at all.
There are a few people who have bought "reclaimed" coal mine land. While not well reclaimed, they bought it cheap, and they used the land to pay for the furthering of reclaiming. Scrapping all the metal, clearing timber to make pasture, properly building cabins for retreats so tourists can enjoy. One place near me, also puts on a xmas and halloween whole farm party. They make apple butter and molasses they grow on that land now. He took the land and made money from it then used that to further the cleanup efforts. Today it does not look like a heavily mined area, there is no garbage left behind. It really looks like you are doing similar, and that is a great thing. sorry if haters hate...it is the internet, it is unavoidable, you do you. Love the videos so far.
Felt like a Dan Hurd video where he won’t stop talking about how people don’t do reclamation and he’s the only one that seem to do it and if he knows you didn’t do it properly he’s turning you in. Lol. Anyway that’s for the video

Good job w the video, lots of rules to know and it does make it challenging but the guys that do it properly are the winners. It seemed like it was a darker video than normal? (I had to turn my brightness on my phone way up)
Thanks Slatco. It did end up dark, I was using a bunch of my good cameras and trying to figure them out lol.
My son's degree is in in mining engineering. I learned from him that if you can't grow it, then it was mined.
That is a very cool saying!!! Love it :)
That's very true Bazamere. This world would be a different place if we didn't "mine or disturb" anything. Thanks as always for watching:)
Great job. Dan sent me. I hobby pan in Switzerland.
Thanks for stopping by the channel Davey!! Good luck out in the field!
Everything comes from two places. You either mine it or you grow it . Well done!
Yes exactly!!! Best saying ever hahaha!
Your content is outstanding brother! 🤙🏼✨
That was exceptional thank you you have Ben a privilege to watch thank you
Thanks for watching Jamime! Happy new years.
Felt like a Dan Hurd video where he won’t stop talking about how people don’t do reclamation and he’s the only one that seem to do it and if he knows you didn’t do it properly he’s turning you in. Lol. Anyway that’s for the video
Didn't mean for it to be that way hahha.
👍
One Hectare = 2.5 Acres. One Acre is a Football Field.
One Hectare = 100 Meter Square or 110 Yards Square.
