A great band that has a big fan base. Very talented song writers and musicians. Haters will hate even as they decry the death of rock. They have a worldwide audience , are selling out big arenas, and headlining festivals.
Age of man (live at red rocks) is an absolute must watch by them
Agree 100% If you watch it, make sure that you begin at Sam's organ solo overture. It is right before the main song begins. It will take your breath away!

Besides that sounding like Zeppelin isn't an Insult, If anyone can copy the sound of one of the best rock bands of all time but have original music will always be a win.
This is just how they dressed for this video. Each song on this album has a symbol. That symbol was for Broken Bells. Checkout an actual live performance, they don't wear these costumes. They are an awesome band with many songs that rock out that you will enjoy.
Exactly, this was shot during COVID & they wanted to do this video as a gift to their fans. It's a stylized video. on purpose. It reminds me of country homes where the owners would invite artists, musicians, etc to perform in the "Salon"; maybe they wanted something intimate like that?

You're actually going to make that assumption about a band after listening to only one song of theirs?? If you haven't done so already, you need to buckle up, crank it up and listen to the entire epic Battle at Garden's Gate album and their Grammy nominated latest album Starcatcher. The best part of my music is that there's something for everyone. Personally I could give a crap about how they dress I admire them for doing whatever the hell they want. I mean I look back at the outfits musicians wore in the '70s and they were outrageous as hell. Look at Freddie Mercury in Bohemian Rhapsody or Elton John. He's sold out stadiums wearing a duck costume and also let's not forget Bowie!

some people can make shit look cool. Some people can't. Ultimately what it comes down to. Some call it swagger. And also i'm sure there are people that aren't into Plant or Prince's style.
The outfits looked great. What we wear today looks like crap! They are NOT Led Zeppelin so comparing them is stupid. Better than most rock from the 70's.

Interesting comments about their stage outfits. Their first video Highway Tune they were wearing jeans and t-shirts. After performing at one of Elton John’s parties, he suggested they switch up their look. If you go back and look at groups in the 1970’s they had some really over the top outfits. Actually Robert Plant likes them and of course they can’t be that bad since they won a Grammy. 😉

I love it when people would constantly bitch about zeppelin breaking up and missing their music, but then also would bitch if someone sounded like zeppelin. Yes, some of their songs were near copies (they used to be a Zepplin cover band), but hell, zeppelin, copied from how many people?
They were never a LZ cover band. They sang some LZ songs starting out but what garage band doesn’t. If you took a dive you would see they also did Howlin Wolf, Black Sabath, Cream, Hendrix, and a cover from Fairport Covention. What 20 yr olds know who Fairport Convention is???

Highway Tune is most LZ song and their most popular. Try that. This might be a song you do not like as much as others.
You do have to listen to songs multiple times. Some hit you right away and some grow on you. Built By Nations is a song I like more than I did in the beginning. My favorite is Black Smoke Rising because of drums.
Josh has great vocals, Jake and Sam both are talented as well as Danny.
Maybe nothing will impress you. But you need to listen more and do not focus on outfits. It is the music.

Yea, Black Smoke Rising is great, easily my favorite (though TBF haven't cared much for anything else I've heard by them).
Yeah, not a whole lot of Zeppelin here at all. There are some similarities in other songs, but nothing crazy. Different people hear different things (and different hearts beat on different strings).
Early on they sounded like Zeppelin...not so much anymore. But then again...whom better to emulate than Zeppelin? These guys are very talented!

Commenting about not really being grabbed by the song . . . Fine,no problem. I fail to see how they are dressed has anything to do with how they sound. What the F. ! No relevance, it’s their personal choice. The commentary you read from the requester beforehand, had a negative spin to it that I believe MAY have subconsciously swayed your opinion. Not that you don’t know your own mind, but I don’t even think you’re aware that it all can influence you. Hope you like the next song you hear of GVF.
I picked this specifically because it’s not a zeppelin sound.
I’m sure there will be a lot of shitty comments about these guys as a a lot of older people like me refuse to give them a chance. A lot of people were so off put by their early stuff they hold grudges. I decided to give them another chance and glad I did as I enjoy some of their newer stuff. Takes a while to like though.
but keep in mind they are selling out concerts, getting younger people back into real music being played on instruments and getting some older people excited again. At a minimum, they are getting people talking.
The drummer is getting better. Last album he was mixing up the beats between verses which was nice. The piano/bass player is very capable. Guitar player is ok but has not blown me away yet. The singer….vocal coaches are amazed by him. But his voice really is an acquired taste.
So based on your reaction I have two options.
1. Never ever pick another GVF song (I said this about Riverside but finally found a song you like from them)
2. Pick one of their more straightforward rock songs which you do seem to appreciate.
Or I could torture you with some of their earlier stuff where you would hear 100% zeppelin without the incredible playing. Hmm.

Oh….if you think these outfits are bad, you should see their new video for the new song. Whoever dresses these guys should be fired. Just awful.

Look I don’t know what’s so bad about sounding like LZ? GVF even reminds me of Rush & Yes on some songs… These guys grew up listening to rock & bluesy songs from the 60’s & 70’s so sure it influenced their music in a big way & I LOVE it! I’m pretty tired of classic rock songs that I’ve heard for over 40 yrs! It’s nice to hear NEW classic rock songs! If you look at the ppl in the audiences at a GVF concert you’ll see ppl in their teens on up into their 70’s. They bridge the age gap when it comes to music, they write their own songs, & play REAL instruments! I am sick & tired of synthesizers & songs with absolutely no real meaning. GVF is one of THE best bands ever… in my opinion 😂

It's really funny to me that people were all over Greta Van Fleet for sounding like Zeppelin and yet no one seems to hear the stark similarities between Sheeran's and Gaye's respective songs (despite the variations between vocal melodies). Chalk it up to different perspectives, I guess.
I love how they got shit for sounding like Zeppelin and then they change things up they get shit for not sounding like zeppelin anymore. Unbelievable.
@@sandifulmor8327 yup. They will never be able to win in the eyes of older people. Most anyway. I was one who was very critical of them in the early days but I think their last album and the new song that just came out are great. It’s easy listening music to my ears. Don’t have to dissect a million notes or 30 different time signatures. His voice grew on me and I can appreciate the talent. Some think he can’t sing but vocal coaches that see him all say the same thing that he is well trained. Maybe it’s his tone people don’t like but the dude can sing.
@@mpkelley20 not many people can sing like Josh. It truly is a gift and as you said, vocal coaches are astounded by his sound. Especially since it’s not forced and all come naturally. I think if people really looked into the band they would see so much to appreciate about them. I’m 61 and have not been this excited about a band in a long time.

I’m SUPER impressed by their abilities to write & perform some of the best rock songs I’ve ever heard! The only older ppl that don’t like them are the ones that haven’t really listened to them or given them a chance! Rock on!

Comments on FB, forums and RUclips support my statement. Hopefully more older people will like them and can bond with their kids or grand kids because of them
My oldest son is 16 and we have bonded well with music we both like. GVF is one of those bands as are bands like Polyphia and even older bands like Rush, Riverside and Porcupine Tree.

you seem totally disoriented trying to convince yourself that you don't like them when you've run out of words...you didn't expect a band with that sound or that voice but you try to hide it by being tough...at least that one It's the impression you give in your reaction...you don't have to see them as led Zeppelin or as a threat but rather the other way around, like a group that makes music from the 60s and 70s in 2023...a hope in these times of reggaeton and digital music, not an enemy... I am sure that after this reaction you have heard many more songs from them and it is evident that if they have talent or that in a few years if they do not deviate they will evolve much more and will be a legendary group ...whether you want to see it or not...if they generate controversy and polarized opposing opinions, was it not the same thing that happened to all the great groups of yesteryear?

Dude, come on, everybody has their opinion, and you don’t like this particular song which honestly blows me away, and probably another million people that are looking at your screen. And unlike you, I just can’t rock with your favorite Tiny Tim, But this band you have to start from their previous music that sounded like zeppelin, and then move forward. You need to listen to next is the highway tune, and then heat above, which is the best song I’ve ever heard in the last 35 years.

In all seriousness, I absolutely 100% respect your opinion, that is what makes us individuals, because we’re not the same, any of us. I don’t know if you have listened to their very first hit, which was Highway Tune, but if you listen to that you will definitely see the zeppelin comparison, and then, if you listen to heat above, you’ll be able to see their progression, just how much they’ve gotten better as the years go on. I’m 60 years old I never thought I would like a band in this era like this, but they’re that good.

I agree it's not great, but at least different for them. Zeppelin would happen on the earlier albums and they do a VERY good impression of it. So many similarities including the set up of the drummer, which is exactly the same everything as Bonzo. (Very large kick, 2 floor toms and Ludwig) Oh BTW I saw them live last October.
Saw them in a packed Bell Centre, amazing concert.

What a strange choice. Some of their tracks are actually pretty good. Not this one though.
This is actually a popular song for reactors. Maybe not the first but choice for most but if I did highway tune or similar, he would have immediately called them out for their sound. One thing about Justin is he tends to like the less favorite songs from bands. The Rush songs he likes and dislikes confuses long time Rush fans all the time. And that seems to extend to other bands as well.

That guitar solo was weird... why start of with such a muffled tone, and there was definitely a bizarre note choice when he was headed up the neck... and not in a good "playin outside" kind of way either... eh, better'n I could do so I should probably just shut up. lol
Yeah....there are a lot of solos he does where I am hoping for more Page like playing but he never really blows me away with his solos. I HATE SG guitars as well and he seems to only use that. Not sure if he plays other guitars but the SG sounds like ass. At least they are all really playing which we do not see too often with popular bands.

And sorry, but his solos are not memorable. He is a good guitar player. Not great. Maybe someday he will be great but right now, comparing his work to actual great guitar players?! Come on!! You ppl should watch the live concerts like the one at Red Rocks. Jake opens up when playing live! All of them do. This band sounds much better live than on videos.

I am guessing you are one of the die hard GVF fans who can't take criticism about the band. probably drives you nuts when people say they are a cheap knock off of Led Zeppelin. So in short, if you are going to write a terrible solo, just skip it and let the bass player take the solo spot.
The vocals are mixed wayyyy too low. The instrumentation drowns him out 😔
