Useful video thank you. I’ve just completed this on my Audi A3 1.6tdi. Had been having jerky throttle response at low speed. Seems to have improved it but mine wasn’t anywhere near as dirty. Anyone trying this on an A3 you’ll find there’s very little space to work and putting the hose back on is torture and I’ve got small hands. If you’re the Hulk then forget it.
Thanks for this, just did the Mrs Q3 TDI, it was having issues with the stop start not restarting.. fiddly job, I would never have got it done without this video. Sto start works properly and it's running better now... 👍
great video! my tdi wouldn’t start in the cold yesterday. got it jumped (battery was low) and glow plug light was flashing and check engine light were on. charged battery, started this morning, glow plug light gone but still reading “P0638 Throttle actuator control range” code. would that be same thing? coincidence it could be dirty and not start or could it be from low battery and -20* temps and needs to be cycled? thank you!
@@AlexTheGrumpyOneyes i tried and it said “permanent”. just seems odd that it would appear when it wouldn’t start because of the low battery in cold weather

Great video and explanation. Forgive by ignorance, I'm useless with cars. But I have this error code on a Skoda Yeti, if I got a competent mate to do this job would this video be relevant? Thanks in advance.
@NotoriousFaZeDx I usually get EGR delete with map done in the same time. Around £250 and either more power or better fuel economy and no more EGR crappie issues
I replaced ny throttle body and the reset the fault code through an obd. But the fault code still appears, could replacing the pedal (pedal position sensor) fix the problem or do i need to reset the value on the throttle body?
Hello mate, just wanted to know/confirm so you need to electrically reset the throttle body once you re-plug it back in or does ir just work straight away? Wanting todo this on my 2.0 TDI 170 Scirocco can you just press the accelerator down, turn the key, then release the pedal, remove the key?
I relay dont understand where all that dirt is comming from as it is only air that passess the throttles and there should be a an air filter filtering the air anyway
Unfortunately it's not just the air. It's air that gets mixed with EGR air as well... for the emission control purposes.... which is the main cause of most engine issues and engine lights and etc...

I wonder why these get so badly Carboned up? I have the old pd type engine bkd and I cleaned mine just because I thought it might need a clean and it wasn't too bad at all.
Mate PD engines are the best thing u can get. Specially with that vacuum operated EGR at the top. Only £50 to replace 😀 no dpf or any other useless improvement...
@@AlexTheGrumpyOne That's why I have never got rid of it lol 😆. It's on about 172,000 miles and still drives great. Thank you exactly what I needed. Mine was even more clogged than yours - so Im amazed the car worked at all. Fixed.
Awesome 😀 well done 😀
How did you feel the fuel consumption changed after cleaning it ?
very well explained just followed and everything works
Thank you very much 😀
Very useful video. How would you clean the area between throttle and air intake valve?
If you take the seal out u can use a very fine sand paper
Excellent video. Took mine off and it was coked up just like this
Thank you 😀 good old clean and my one is still good

Hi it is possible. Sometimes due to voltage differences it can create a fault and etc. Have you tried to clear it?

Got an 09 A3 2.0l tdi showing fault P2196 (O2 Sensor Signal Stuck Rich Bank 1 Sensor 1) could this be a blocked dirty throttle body?
It can be, but I doubt it.
I would suspected blocked sensor or faulty sensor

Hi mate I’ve got this code and throttle response is rubbish so it’s going to the garage tomorrow, but also does this affect anything to do with turbo?
It can as it would affect the air flow
@@AlexTheGrumpyOne thanks for your reply, my turbo has been louder lately and sirens more than normal, I pray I don’t need a new turbo!
@NotoriousFaZeDx hmm if uts louder then it's a possibility.
Needs checking the play in it and also the actuator
