- After all the reviews it was time to have fun with these LEGO Technic RC trucks in the garden, here are the contestants:
42099 4x4 X-Treme Off-Roader - 5 minute gear swap mod applied for less speed and more torque, details: • Comparing the gearing ...
42129 4x4 Mercedes-Benz Zetros Trial Truck - most accessories removed, differential lock engaged, after the failed climbing attempt at the end the rear axle fix was applied: • Investigating the rear...
42070 6x6 All Terrain Tow Truck - Stock build with open differentials

I love this constructive criticism without saying a word. All you have to do is pause the music 😂
I love how the music syncs with the fails also the 0:49 is fantastic
And I laughed internally when I saw the description - the tow truck is just a stock build - and my mind was like that's why it's the worst lol
42070 is OFC best lmao... ALSO great music that works with situations on screen!
Zetros is beast, it only need bigger tyres and portal axle for that ground clearance
I have to say it: Excellent shots and great editing skills!
Great video. The Mercedes truck is the best for climbing power, thanks to the lock differential.
Awesome comparison! I’m sure you could have included other C+ and PF sets like the 9398 4X4 Crawler and 42124 Off-Road Buggy like everybody has been saying, but these are the best sets you can compare right now with the Zetros just releasing!
You can eliminate the center diff in the 42070. If you switch the 2 axles around, and add a connector. You will find there is space behind the 16, where you can swap the bushing with a 12 or 8, and then you can fit a 20 or 24 on the swapped axles. This gives better performance with a removed center diff, and better torque.
I find the speed difference to be negligible, and though it isn't much, I think it works better than your proposed mod from a few years back.
Really cool video. 6x6 truck looks the best in offroad but it has problems and open diffs like 4x4 offroader.
Looks like a shorter wheelbase and larger tyres will be my Zetros mods, thanks Balazs!
Tonight, on Top Gear
I drive the best off-roader.....in the world.
James May goes slow.
And Hammond has a tow truck.
The 4x4 Offroader is the powerhouse
That looked like a lot of fun :) !!! I wished we lived closer and could "play-well" together :)
Awesome video as always!
@1:43 Excellent timing ;)
Maybe in this challenge bigger rims on Zetros could back in the game from table and bricks?
Zetros is more fun to play with than the 4x4 off-roader
great video
Conclusion : mods for locked differential are sometime really useful
400th!! like!!
yay nice job man
You should do a video about 42131 info
Please add an automatic lego transmission so that the reduction is the same when climbing but faster when going straight
Can we hope for a 3 axel mode from you?
2:20 just shows how badly a front differential lock is needed.
Well there is 4 wheel drive
@@explosivetoiletat69 Having wheel slip due to the lack of a lockable differential defeats the point of having 4wd; it turns the car into rwd only as the front wheel in contact with the ground is not turning at all.
I'm sure they do all much better if a nice dozer pushes from behind :)
Lol, we'll see soon :D
Not sure if it would make any sense but how about comparing to "budget" RC crawler like Axial SCX24?
Those cheap crawlers use solid axels to improve ground clearance and crawling capabilities. SCX24 uses also worm gears to prevent crawler rolling back/forward when throttle is not applied. Not sure if lego crawlers have such issues.
i have one infront off me while watching this video and crinching love the scx24 c10
I would like too ask you if they will cancel the orange monster track if there will be still the control on the technic app ?
If only Mersedes had normal turning radius. It takes a stadium to make a turn
tow truck will never win till theres outriggers, and other models are "modified" so why tow truck isnt ?
Tow truck would need way more modifications, and this is just fun, not anything serious. But don't worry, the tow truck will get a chance too ;)
42099 very good
Sorry for the off-topic, but when is the embargo date for the CAT bulldozer. Looking forward for your review.
Check out my latest community post :) It's the 10th
@@RacingBrick Thanks. I forgot there is such a tab here on YT.
Open diff doesn't really mater if you do a reduction after de differentials, like at the 9398
Nope. Open diffs always matter, all of them have gear reduction after the diff, the Zetros and 42099 have actually the highest reduction with 5.4:1.
The 42070 has an open central-diff and loses therefore all propulsion if one of the front-wheels slips. But you can remove the central-diff and add a small gear-reduction at the beginning of the drive-train, that helps a lot.
Даа, вот только в реальности этот джип и 6×6 не заеду на бардюр в 1см... Чего не скажешь про грузовик мерседес...
Is there a mod for the Merc to make it faster without losing it torque and amazing climbing ability
You either have torque or speed within the same system. You can e.g. swap the Technic hub with a BuWizz 3.0 unit that provides higher voltage, that'll give you more speed.
@@RacingBrick I've heard of this buwizz hub, it was said to improve the bucket wheel excavator too. I'll look into it. I was just wondering if there was a different gear set up but thanks
@@frasermaxwell7548 as I mentioned you either have speed or torque if you only change the gearing. You cannot find "free energy" that will give you more speed while maintaining the same level of torque. You either give power (torque) with a slower output, or you sacrifice torque and gear up the output for more speed.
whoa
truck commercials be like
Why are they so slow better to change gear ratios
Where's the 9398?
In the comments :)
Lego vs RC car
Reminds me of tortoises mating
cool
Ah just like the old times generic music and text.
Man, LEGO RC vehicles really are terrible. If you find yourself with a few hundred dollars to spend, you’re much better off going with an actual RC truck.
Well if you add a few hundreds more you can buy a real car that is even more fun... There's really no point of comparing them with each other. Different concept, different purpose, different play experience.
@@RacingBrick Well he just said some few hundreds more, like for a traxxas, while you compare a RC car for 400$ to an real car for 30.000$ yeah seems legit 🤦🏼♂️🤦🏼♂️🤦🏼♂️
@@NicWir I'm not sure about your country, but here it is not that difficult to buy a beaten up old car for the price of a new Traxxas set that you can drive around and have some fun with it. Apparently you did not get the point - comparing an RC LEGO set with a Traxxas is as "legit" as comparing a Traxxas with a real car.
@@RacingBrick we dont compare beaten up with new, we compare new and new
@@NicWir nope, we compare experience with experience
Summary: all of them can‘t do what they‘ve been advertised for…. 😔
Ya
Zetros is the worst set ever but all terrain tow truck is the best
As you can clearly see in the video ;)
