I think this was when KECA-TV changed the call letters to KABC-TV.

@BaronVonShrapnel - In 1957. Prior to then, the Baltimore station had been WAAM-TV. It was also a matter of Westinghouse reclaiming the WJZ calls, as they were the original owners of the radio station of the same name that took to the air out of Newark, NJ in 1921.

This would have come from Feb. 1, 1954, the day the former KECA-TV in Los Angeles changed calls to the current KABC-TV. (This date was eleven months to the day after New York's ABC O&O, until then WJZ-TV, became WABC-TV on March 1, 1953.)

wmbrown6 is correct. Channel 7 went on as KECA in 1949 and changed calls to KABC in 1954. I was a child of three in 1959 when we moved to Riverside CA (Los Angeles market), and channel 7 was KABC. The only station that changed calls circa 1963 was channel 4, which changed from KRCA to KNBC.

Not to be nitpicky, but in the interest of accuracy, I believe the call letter change from KRCA to KNBC coincided with their move to NBC Burbank from NBC Radio City in Hollywood in November 1962. NBC's radio property in San Francisco had to change their call letters, in turn, to something other than KNBC because in those days, the FCC wouldn't allow the same set of call letters to be used in different cities for some reason. NBC tried to get the KPO call letters back for 680 in San Francisco, but the FCC said "no dice," so they eventually settled with the letters KNBR, which remain to this day.

And Channel 2 remained KNXT until finally changing to KCBS in 1984. On the radio, KNX is in LA and KCBS remains in San Francisco.

@wmbrown6 Hmm. Didn't know channel 7 had the WJZ calls. When did channel 13 in Baltimore get 'em?

1957, when Westinghouse bought the station from brothers Ben and Herman Cohen.

WABC-TV began life as WJZ-TV in August 1948, the TV adjunct of by-then ABC-owned WJZ radio of Newark, put on the air by Westinghouse, then bought by RCA, eventually becoming the flagship of the "Blue" NBC network. WEAF was put on the air by A T & T. RCA bought it in 1926 and it became the flagship station of the NBC "Red" network, becoming WNBC in 1947.
