    100% not petty, I was once working at both a law firm and pizza/pasta place, and the pizza place refused to pay me for a few weeks of work after they locked me out of the rostering system. Sending the "by the way I also work for a law firm, and unless I get paid in the next 48 hours, you'll be hearing from them" text, and being paid within an hour of sending it, is still the most powerful I've ever felt 😂

      Good for you, Simon. Of course you should stand by your wife. My ex and I had a similar situation involving a lawyer who didn't pay for our services. So, I took our baby twins and a sign and stood outside his offices. It took just 3 hours and he came out, pleading to pay me just so his clients didn't see what a shitbag he truly was. I took the money and stayed another 3 hours, just to be spiteful.

    Nah, Simon, you're not petty. I spent 3 months getting a supplier in China kicked off eBay for screwing me out of $4. It just pissed me off. I found in his review that he had screwed a lot of other customers the same way, so I contacted them and got a petition together. eBay saw the large number of their buyers being routinely screwed over by this one seller and kicked him off permanently. Was this a good use of my time? YES! It gave me and my fellow buyers great satisfaction and we spent no cash on it. Maybe we should do this kind of thing more often.

      I waged war against a vendor on Facebook that was selling a set of “life-like Green Dragon eye” dice (yes, I’m a geek, surprised?). After paying £32.56 including shipping and transaction fees and waiting 3 weeks I received a solitary die (should have been 7) that in no way resembled the “life like”features advertised. After several cordial email exchanges they offered me $4 reimbursement IF I RETURNED THE DIE (which of course I’d have to pay postage for)!
      After that whenever their advert appeared in any of the DnD related groups I’m in, I’d post a screen shot of their review on ScamAdviser (something I should have checked before parting with my cash) of 1/100:- Highly Suspect.
      I continued my crusade by repeating this with every advertiser doing the same, as it it turned out they were all the same vendor trading as various websites. After several other fellow DnD enthusiasts began doing the same eventually the adverts disappeared but unfortunately I never got my refund and am left with a sole disappointing die.

    Also, for the benefit of one Mr. F. Boi, 'lengthly' is an archaic form of the word 'lengthy'. Call it a quirk. Like the difference between 'jag-u-ar', and 'jag-uar'. They're both the same thing and we know this so, contextually, either are perfectly acceptable.

      True but the case was dismissed with prejudiced and no settlement award... the parties though did have to pay their own court fees. Also it depends on the state. In NC it's only responsible if they served someone visibly drunk. Also it's a no fault state so they only have to argue the plaintiff of one percent at fault

    • @moogle68
      @moogle68 8 месяцев назад +1

      @@zacharythebeau163 Yeah, they would need to show security camera footage to prove that the customer was visibly drunk, but if the Bar had one of those certifications from (I think) the ATF then all the bartenders should've been certified, which would mean they should know how to count drinks, and even if someone doesn't seem too drunk there are still limits on how many drinks a certain person can have in a certain amount of time based on a number of factors. I took that certification a while ago so I forgot some of it, but I will never forget how crazy long the online course is. It took me almost 2 full 8 hour shifts of coming into the restaurant and sitting down at the computer for the whole shift each time to get through it, and that was without having to retake any of the test. it's not a word. He also had the wrong definition for the word "lightening", which actually means "to lighten or reduce the weight of something. I guess it could technically be used for brightening/illuminating something in the past tense, but in the example sentence he used, the word that he should've used was "lit" as in, " I lit the room up by turning on the butane camping lantern on the desk in the corner." or" I used my camping lantern to light up the room." Even after the show with Dad sitting beside Kenny, no one knew which one was Dad and which one was Kenny. I have hundreds of these stories with different people and friends of Kenny’s, I have a great story about Bill Murray not believing that Dad wasn’t Kenny during a Saturday night live taping but it’s very long and I’m not going to go into it here. Rules are rules for a reason. Quite often that reason is written in blood.
      At my brother's work a new guy was eager to prove what an excellent worker he was (it was his second day on the job), and forgot to don a mask before entering the hull of the ship. He died within a few minutes.
      Now they are keeping the gear for entering said spaces in a separate building in the yard and you cannot enter the ship without checking off at said building with gear on.
      At another part of the worksite one guy decided to take a shot cut after his break and not follow the scheduled walkway. All that said, it would have been harder for McConnell to stop Obama putting her replacement in, but it would not have been impossible. He still could havestopped it. So it is hard to say which would have been right.
      And more, while this move may or may not have worked out, she was still an amazing justice and did a lot of good. Even if her early retirement would have 100% guaranteed Obama got the pick, it still wouldn't tarnish her career.

What Obama -should- have done with MG was use the temporary assignment of MG which is allowed without congress, as long as they aren't holding a vote. This would have forced a vote as if they had pulled the refuse to vote with mg being temporarily assigned, he would be considered confirmed at the close of the congressional session. So he would have been confirmed by no contest. The alternative for them then is to hold the vote.

However, the reason why it isn't needed is because it's not that he's unable to tell if something is dangerous but that he is simply not afraid of something being dangerous. Whether that counts as impaired mental capacity would be contentious, since being fearful (e.g. needle phobia) can itself lead to someone being found as lacking mental capacity (for a particular decision).

No one was hurt and my dad offered to pay for the other person repairs out of pocket (he offered up to about 2k, though the damages were likely only about $5-800 range). Initially the person agreed, only to later turn around and attempt to sue for neck and back pain, trying for $10-15k. It turned into a giant case were (if I remember correctly) the lady was defrauding her insurance among other things. My husband has worked in several restaurants with bars, and the laws were pretty much the same across several states. First off, the bar would be in some seriously deep doodoo for not checking her ID before selling her alcohol. Though, if she had a friend there who was over 21 who bought the drinks for her, I suppose the bar would be in little to no trouble since they technically didn't serve her. They could kick her and her friends out if they were caught, but the staff can't babysit all of their patrons all of the time. The friend(s) who bought the drinks for her, on the other hand, would absolutely be liable and could be in serious legal trouble. Secondly, bars are supposed to cut you off if you appear visibly intoxicated. And, if you "pre-game" and come in already tipsy, they're not supposed to serve you at all. And third, in order to help prevent patrons from getting totally hammered, bars generally have a max number of drinks a person can be served. At the places my husband worked, the max was, I think, 3. Pro tip from my husband: If you want to get hammered at a place with a drink maximum, order a Long Island Iced Tea. It doesn't matter how much alcohol is in your drink. If you order a small beer or a humongous margarita, both still count as one drink. A Long Island Iced Tea contains something like 5 shots of alcohol. But, since they're all served mixed together in a single glass (a rather large one at that) it still technically counts as only one mixed drink. So, you can order 3 of those and drink the equivalent of 15 shots. I'm not saying you SHOULD, I'm just saying you technically CAN. Do with that info what you will, but do it at your own risk.

    • @redb.5533
      @redb.5533 Год назад +3

      I wish a Long Island had 5 shots but it’s about 2.5, still more than a beer or a shot. They put half shots of each. Some places like AMC measure out tiny splashes of each so it doesn’t add up to more than 1.

    • @Sarah_D.
      @Sarah_D. Год назад

      @@redb.5533 I don't care for the drink at all, so I am definitely no expert on it. Though, I have seen it made different ways at different places. The only chain "bar" my husband ever worked for was Applebee's. They were the ones who made it super strong. And, it's been quite a long time since he's worked there, so they may have changed it by now. But, yeah, I've seen some places make it with mostly soda and just a small splash of alcohol. So, maybe I should have added the disclaimer "Your experience may vary based on location." 😁

    • @zacharythebeau163
      @zacharythebeau163 Год назад +1

      Actually most states limit the amount of alcohol added to mixed drinks. Usually to the same amount of hard liquor you can have at once. The exception is if the drink is designed for more than one person, in which case they can say it's for two if there are two people there they can, but neither one can get another until it's finished... this all varies by states though as the ttb and atf do have certain restrictions it's mostly on the production, transport, and sale if it. Like technically bars can't pour out beer other than stuff served and taxes already (by the actually consumer). Anything else they technically have to fill a alcohol destruction form and it can't be poured into a sink. Until exemption with COVID bars actually had to have a distributor that sold it to them come take it and the brewery had to do it, or the brewery had to send someone certified... though that's not often practiced if we're being honest.

More likely to lead to scratches, and even if there are ones you don’t notice, over time the micro abrasions can lead to fogging of the lens. Also if it has any coatings like anti reflective/glare or scratch proof coating or whatever, a shirt can make it peel off. Use a micro fiber cloth.

I guess I’m not supposed to use like alcohol wipes because of the coating on the lenses right? Are These ultrasound bath thingies that you can buy any good? And I saw some microfilament wipe that supposedly prevents the glasses from fogging up. Do they work? Sorry but this has been bugging me for years. She didn't have another recurrence until 2018, when Trump was already president.
      She had no reason to step down after her bout with cancer early in Obama's term beyond being at the ripe old age of 76, and she seemed to be in relatively good health beyond that. It is worth noting that she was only a few years older than several of her peers - Kennedy and Scalia were only 3 years younger than her and had both been on the bench at least 5 years longer than she had, while Breyer was only 5 years younger and was appointed to the bench a year after her. Breyer stayed on through Trump's term and stepped down 2 years after Biden took office.
      It is also worth noting that she might have considered retiring at the end of Obama's term had the Republicans not blocked his attempts at appointing a new judge during his final year in office, leaving a seat on the Supreme Court vacant for the better part of a year.
