I forgot to mentions about rice and pulses. Actually, its not allowed to bring in rice or pulses into the USA. However, if you plan to bring in small quantity of such items, its mandatory to declare it at the airport. Please don’t leave it on the officers to find out what’s in your bag. You may face unnecessary delay and questions at the airport for this. So I would suggest, don’t pack rice and pulses until too much necessary.

What about the small soap, shampoo, conditioner, and small liquid container? Along with the make up products? As I am a student I have to get those things but I am confused.

    1. For example, If I carry spices, should I declare for that also in customs form? I couldn't find any relevant field in the form.
    2. Also, pulses are usually not allowed,
but why you are against processed and packed/sealed pulses..? not understood.. of course, this is creating chaos..

You should check “Yes” on Question 11 of the CBP Declaration Form 6059B to declare agricultural items like honey. Over 100 ml can be pacled in checked luggage.
There has been many instances where traveller friends had to spend hours at the airport and face several queries and lastly their pulses like dal and rice are not allowed by the CBP officers. So as a flyer myself and after a lot or research, i have found out that this is something which is restricted in USA especially.

      @@peppysage Thanks for the response ! If honey(liquid > 100ml) allowed,
can i assume Meera shampoo(1litre) [i.e., it is also a liquid] also can be allowed to carry through check-in?
