What makes it more impressive singer (Mayu) at time of this song couldnt even speak English but sings it almost like a native. Even better is her ability to sing & scream/growl in English and Japanese in same song with it sounding natural and fluent. Tamu (drummer) prior to Nemophila auditioned to be a drummer for a band put together by the composer of Kurenai (Yoshiki) he is also X-Japans drummer. He was blown away when she drummed (solo) Kurenai. Speaking to her after the audition they compared there drumming bpm, Tamu was 20 more than him. The band idea was abandoned for unknown reason .1-2yrs later she joined Nemophila. Shes regarded as one of Japans top sessions drummers & proficient in 6-8 instruments What really showcases her ability is her flawless display drumming (solo) Dream Theater's The Dance Of Eternity. There are multiple camera angles for this video.
My God man that drummer is slaying it!!! And that 4-5 bar breakdown with just the drums is just smart song writing I've been aware of this band for a fair peice but never got around to listening but now this is going on my Spotify The whole band is tight beyond belief and the fact they all where smiling was a breath of fresh air instead of the unwavering stank face I'm totally impressed ✌️😎🧐🤘👍 Quick aside: You mentioned the ducks feet running while above the water all is calm That is actually an astute observation bc as a metal drummer when I'm doing crazy double bass stuff especially unbroken 32nd notes my torso is straight as a board and I use wrist power while my arms stay as still as reasonably possible Great call on that one 👍
any drummer crazy enough to cover Yoshiki's work? respect! Tamu can handle anything a pros pro. You should def check out some X Japan stuff Yoshiki is a phenomenal drummer
This is really great! I saw X Japan 9 years ago in NYC at Madison Square Garden and posted Kurenai to my RUclips account right after. Checked the account a few weeks later and it had 50,000 views! Up to 76k now. One of my favorite bands and Yoshiki is a great drummer.
This sounds so weird all in English. It’s be interesting to get a reaction to an early X performance, with their full on visual K look, or Last Live where Yoshiki’s playing with a broken neck
Seems to be so many incredible Japanese female drummers, and Tamu is right there with the best of them! I certainly haven't seen one with a better smile.
The crazy part is the lead singer Mayu didnt speak English but just copied the sounds taught to her by the guitarist Saki. Very hard to do. Muratatamu was simply brilliant in this and its one of my favorite Nemophila covers.
The Lovebites band from Japan also has a phenomenal female drummer named Haruna. I hope you are also willing to react to Lovebites with their song Judgment Day
Mayu is my absolute favorite Japanese female vocalist. Such a unique voice. Others like Saiki and Asami are just as awesome, just more mainstream. Tamu and Akane have to be the two happiest drummers on the planet. I do know YOYOKA is just as happy drumming as them, just does not express it externally. YOYOKA just feels what Akane and Tamu express on their faces, on the inside. People don't realize how good these girls really are, basically forming during Covid, starting on covers, and now their original works are approaching the work of BandMaid and Lovebites. I consider them the most improved band for the last 2-3 years. Do yourself a favor and listen to this (LIVE) song. VERY unique. Will throw you for a loop at least 3-4 times. "NEMOPHILA / AMA-TE-RAS [Official Live Video]" ruclips.net/video/96LQimRqJgM/видео.html They have a lot of bangers in their catalog.
Mayu was at the time not able to speak English !!and did this from being told how each word sounded .Now she is better having had English lessons to help .Mayu did say that there originals are a mixture of Japanese and English because some times each language fits a melody better you may notice that most of the harsh vocals are in English its easier and fits better than Japanese .Tamu well believe it or not this is easy for her she can do a full concert with most of the tracks involving this intensity the lady is a beast LOL
That drummer's feet are insanely fast they almost have motion blur on the footage XD I jumped when the drop happened too ngl XD Didn't think much of the vocals but the rest of the band are amazing. Some of the drummer's fills were so clean, especially in the chorus sections.
You should react to Heavenly: Spill Blood on Fire, Japanese version. they are a french band normally singing in english, but on this track they are singing in japanese, so its the same thing as this just the oposit lingual direction.
Tamu has the strength of a gorilla and the cuteness of a puppy. I can listen to her all day. Who am I kidding? I do listen to her all day. Check out her channel. ⛩️🥁⛩️
This song is originally written in English. It was the trend back then. X’s older songs are all written in English, though Yoshiki’s (the bandleader, songwriter, and drummer) English skill might not be the best back then. They translated it back to Japanese in later versions. I think the band choose the English version because it’s considered the original.
Mayu doesn't actually really speak English. Well, very little. The guitarist on our right, SAKI, used to coach Mayu phonetically when she needed to learn English lyrics. Now SAKI has left the band, it will be a bit more complicated as she was the only member of the band who was pretty fluent in English to the extent of being able to hold up a normal conversation. Tamu is an amazing woman. In addition to drums, she plays keyboards, sax, xylophone, guitar and bass. Oh, and raises two young kids.
You did see Nemophila live video once, at whiskey a go go (los Angeles, famous starter club for small bands like Van Halen and Motley Crue), you commented that you wish you had drum cam for TamuTamu’s feet and linear quads. I personally think I know what you want. You’ll be able to see past the platform shoes (probably only for the video?!) and enjoy the less relentless drumming in Nemophila’s song Adabana. Is is a a mini drum solo, or just a really long nearly chaotic drum fill, but it basically steals the song for me ruclips.net/video/AxYiOwsu6wU/видео.htmlsi=IIzKBR4VmEPdfgOJ It’s worth checking out what they’re covering, what a huge hit this song was, performed live at X-Japan’s “Last Live” show (97? 1999?). Leaves me in awe 🤯🤩 ruclips.net/video/3jtXEpMiEPw/видео.htmlsi=HKhBUPzxVyNDaH_h
I have watched Tamu play "Kutenai" with the Daisuke Kurosawa Project, Audition for Yoshiki and with Nemophila. The audition was most fun, Yoshiki didn't know who she was and watching him become amazed was fun. (FYI, she was young at the time)
@@outwest1014 Thanks - found the video and yes it is her. Also noticed that guitarist is a guy that plays with MarataTamu in a Jazz Fusion band. Japanese musicians always seem to a million projects going on.
Hey. greetings from Finland 🇫🇮 I am your subscriber and I really like your reaction videos. Would you like to listen to one of the great Finnish band's songs and make a reaction video out of it?
NOTE - it has already been said, but it is worth saying again. When this video was made, Mayo did not speak any English at all. None, nada, zilch! She was only singing phonetically. She learned the sounds. Today, Mayo do speak English.

I think being a metal drummer must be one of the hardest gigs in music, especially if you're doing long concerts on the regular.
Wow! That drummer is part Animal (from The Muppets), part Tasmanian Devil, and part Road Runner.
any drummer crazy enough to cover Yoshiki's work? respect! Tamu can handle anything a pros pro. You should def check out some X Japan stuff Yoshiki is a phenomenal drummer
Tamu's collapse at the end is in homage to Yoshiki, drummer of X-Japan who had severe asthma and would sometimes collapse on stage.
TAMU WITH THIS SONG IS WHEN HE DEMONSTRATES HIS INTERPRETATION AND TALENT THE MOST... EVEN MORE THAN IN NEMOPHILA'S OWN SONGS
Wow! From opera to Iron Maidens. What a fun show. Thanks Andy😊
Woah! That just escelated nicely!😮😊
This is awesome. Love the guitar harmonies and the drumming. 🤘

Agree, but her and Akane are tied.
@@Glen.Black. Yes, very talented, and they both look like the last people I would pick as Rock/Metal drummers!
so amazing NEMOPHILA

I LOVE THE WHOLE BAND BUT DAMN TAMU ON DRUMS IS INCREDIBLE ❤❤❤❤❤
Agree!
You need to listen all the music from x japan, they play speed metal, classical and romantic
Awesome! ❤
Check out Rose of Pain by X Japan
I hope to get to it!

well now you have to do the original from the Last Live or some other X Japan songs, they are amazing.
I certainly understand the “calves of steel” reference.
Classic song made by a classic band (X) made classic again by Nemophila! Tamu is a beast! 🙂
we all love tamu.
😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁this makes me smile its so cool

Full respect to Nemophila, but gotta say... hats off to X-Japan and Yoshiki, Hide et al. RIP.
Great singing dear friend!! Like +1
🤘🏻🌸🤘🏻
Japanese bands with great drummers = Band Maid, Bridear, X Japan, Nemophila, and Lovebites.
Yup Japan do metal well

Nemophila =Powerhouse Rock n Roll..
crap... this track sounded so much Helloween/Gamma Ray, that i think i should give those girls a chance to appear on my playlist :D
here for Tamu!
...tho they're all great
Yes they are!
is that drummer a daughter of nicko mcbrain? she sure seems to be having fun
Murata grew up on jap and western metal IIRC
Do you ever do punk song reacts? Maybe Bad Brains - Right Brigade or Descendents Statue of Liberty? Personal preference
👍👍 try HAGANE / 天下五剣 omv 🎻
Remember when you reacted to Dan Presland, and he commented with a different track to react to and then you never did?
Ingo Schwichtenberg style.
music.....
asian music 😮

Probably much like the drummer of DragonForce reacting to JUNNA's cover of "Through The Fire And Flames". Looked like a proud father.
I think I saw that video - did it also include the bassist from Otoboke Beaver ? That's a band with a crazy fast drummer right there.
@@tomasp886 I believe so, didn't really pay attention until Tamu.

Pretty good after they got past that Swan Lake intro 😕🤘🏼🥁

Oh right. Thank you :)
They did well but their "Mothers" did it better. The Show-Ya cover of this song is only comparable to the original.
