Hazuki's guitar at the beginning is so sweet, and Mayu's vocals as well, then they skip full speed and go light speed, Tamu's feet are breaking the sound barrier and just lightening quick hands just amazing. then Saki and Haraguchi-san doing an awesome job of matching the speed of Tamu and Hazuki and Saki's solos and harmonizing is amazing as well. Love this cover. Thank you for reacting to this video.
Take your time Wave, these ladies are worth the wait. 🤘😁🤘 Besides their incredible talent, what is truly striking about NEMOPHILA is the pure joy that they show when they perform together. Their remote covers are awesome, but when they are together you can see the joy in the room. It really seems that the harder they go, the more they are smiling and truly loving what they are doing. Wave, you hit it, the chemistry this band has is out of this world.
All of the mannerisms with the guitarists switching roles and harmonizing is an homage to the way it was originally played by hide and pata. They often did harmonizing solos and they’re wonderful. These girls did a great job and I feel like Hide would’ve loved this 🤘🏻
X-Japan along with a few other bands like Buck-Tick and Luna Sea are considered the godfathers of the Visual Kei movement because of their visual style along side the music. The Visual Kei name comes from a distillation of the phrase "Psychedelic Violence Crime Of Visual Shock" off the Blue Blood album cover. Visual Kei is a movement rather than a genre of music as the bands associated with it usually perform music all over the rock and metal spectrum. A good place to start reacting to X-Japan would be Kurenai from the "Last Live" concert which was going to the last concert because Toshi had been persuaded into joining a cult by his wife at the time which convinced him rock music was evil, It hit Yoshiki hard as Toshi and Yoshiki were childhood friends. It was also the last time the performed together before Hide's death. Over about the next ten years Toshi got out of the cult and sorted himself out after they had stolen all his money, he and Yoshiki made contact and decided to bring back the band if they could. They did some shows with support guitarists for Hide's place but eventually Sugizo from Luna Sea who was a friend of Hide was brought in permanently, Sugizo also brought his violin skills and for Yoshiki another highly trained classical musician like himself. There is a cool version of Kurenai from about 12 years ago on youtube with piano and violin intro.
Covering X-Japan can be tricky but they nailed it! This intro is one of the best I ever heard. They did another cover of X-Japan: Rusty Nail(one of my favourite) you should check it. For a softer side of them check Life. X-Japan is THE japanese band that inspired so many they are one of the main reason there are so many good bands from Japan nowadays! They formed in the 80’s and are legendary! The original band members are Toshi(vocals), Hide&Pata(guitars), Heath(bass) and Yoshiki(drums) he is also the leader and main song writer he inspired so many and is a fantastic pianist too. If you can find some image of the ‘97 concert The Last Live you’ll understand what I’m saying. Unfortunately Hide passed away some months later and now usually Sugizo(from Lunasea) play with them since(I believe he was officially add to the band line up at some point) Cool reaction as always.
You have to understand that their solemnity and gravity at the beginning of this song is a mark of respect to late HIDE, X Japan guitar player who's death (accident or suicide) has been a national tragedy in Japan (including fan's suicides sadly - the other band members had to ask fans publicly to stop !)
My favorite thing in this video is the shots of Tamu's feet. And the shots of her face. And Mayu's singing. And Saki. And everything else. But especially Tamu's feet. And Saki. And Mayu...
This is the true classic of 80s Japanese metal and will keep the honor forever, but I have to confess that this version sounds better than the original.
I'll say it every time, it's a shame they decided to cover the English version of the song, the Japanese lyrics are just so much better in every way. Tamu's hunched forward, head down while pounding on the drums "playing style", the antics throughout and especially at the end of the song and her collapsing on the drums is probably an hommage to X Japan's drummer/songwriter/pianist Yoshiki, I think that's also why they're all laughing after the song. She just needed to wear a neckbrace and it would have been a perfect impersonation. He always played 120% all out, even if his asthma got the better of him at the end, he collapsed on the drums and had to be carried backstage to get hooked up on an oxygen mask. One of the reasons for his playing style was that some time during his X career he was given a transparent acryl drum set from his sponsor TAMA, who insisted he plays it all the time, and he hated that kit because he had to hit the drums twice as hard as normal ones to get a sound he found acceptable.
This song is a song by X Japan Yoshiki, and after hitting this song in front of Yoshiki himself on drums, it was said that this song is not good for you if you hit it too much.
Tamu's unreal. so good. A decent drummer will make a shitty band decent, a good drummer will make a decent band good and great drummer will make a good band , great.
Well, next this song as a stream cover project??? 🤭 I just enjoy watching this video from time to time. ✌🏻 ___________________ 「 _"完璧なんてありえない" / Perfection? No one gets there._ 」 --- from *BAND-MAID* 'Warning' 🕊
I love this band, Nemophila is so good. my ONLY complaint is that I feel Haraguchi is underutlized and underappreciated. she is always in the pocket and more often than not smiling and laughing her ass off having fun. but I feel on the Nemophila originals, her bass lines tend to blend in and they don't put her out front and let her shine enough. I want to hear her a bit more with some more active bass lines like Misa. But maybe that's just now how they write the music they are currently looking to play. perhaps that will come down the line. I have no doubt she can handle far more than they are currently throwing at her. am I the only one who feels that way? all of them are so such strong musicians, but Saiki and Mayu keep steeling my heart ❤❤❤❤

Yoshiki was just an animal on drums and the fact that Tamu can cover it so flawlessly says a lot about her talent.
Did you catch them live over the weekend? If not, you have until the 24th to watch the replay.
They are truly awesome. I love their covers, which is new for me!

If you want to have fun, then watch their X Japan Rusty Nail song cover and then watch X Japan live performance from the last live 1997 concert.
Oh man.. the time has come to get you familiar with X.

To hear a really different side of Mayu, listen to the Nemophila cover of Happy.
This song is a song by X Japan Yoshiki, and after hitting this song in front of Yoshiki himself on drums, it was said that this song is not good for you if you hit it too much.
Still my favorite of their covers, the newer MTH and Luna Sea covers are really close though
