I totally feel your pain, as a mechanic and a shop owner myself for over 22 yrs, i wanted to start a yt channel addiction to truck mechanic ing, but seeing all the stupid and negative comments steers me away from doing filming. Watching from down under
Bro just do it people are always gonna bitch. As a tech myself I enjoy seeing content like will’s. Just do it if you like it and share what you know. Regards and looking forward to your channel🔧💪🏼
You should start it anyway worth the risk. Don’t listen to people on the internet. If we don’t know em, we don’t know what they know so no point in engaging with them :)
It’s instagram! I can’t even make a wholesome comment on there without it being deleted for being ‘spam’ ‘misleading’ or ‘baiting likes.’ But people can be absolute assholes without issue! 🤬 I’ve been finding YT much safer for my sanity when comment diving. 😊
Occasionally there'll be the one guy that's super knowledgeable about one specific car and they'll give good tips, but most of the time it's some dude who thinks he's a mechanic because he did a brake job on his own car once
Shout out to Concept3Performance and Will, amazing content. Keep it up, and don't worry about these keyboard warriors. They never really worked on a car or a truck before. For those of us who do, we find your videos informative and entertaining because we either learned something new or been in the same situation.
@cammourer8246 Communication is not the problem. It's the blasphemy that comes from people. I can't tell a surgeon how to operate just because I've stitched up a wound a few times. To the ball joint in question, Concept3Performance probably replaced hundreds, if not more, I can't tell them that they are doing it wrong just because I've replaced it on my car or truck. That would be assuming that every car or truck is built the same.
@@vsmk5512 I can see where you're confused, my opinion on his communication issues are gathered from previous videos where he admits to ignoring people, having people be his mouthpiece, and trying to explain things to people like they are also mechanics.
I love these keyboard mechanics that have never been under a car in their life. They can't even change oil and give advice about a ball joint. Great video, screw the haters.
The legendary trio battle music from gen 3 when removing the ball joint 😂. I love it, one of my top 3 songs from pokemon. Also some of these jobs that look easy as hell since theres no rust or you think its gonna be easy, isnt always going to play nice like this ball joint.
We work on semi trucks and most of the time anything you work on is very well rusted and seized. Usually half an hour or more if we have the time someone will spray a ton of CRC Freeze-Off and it does wonders! As far as all the penetrant sprays go we love this one the most.
I feel your pain will. Had this issue a few years ago on a Tacoma. I never do lower ball joints on them anymore, i replace the entire arm lol. New arms comes with new balljoints already pressed in.
Will i love your content keep it up ive learned so much just watching the content you make from a rust belt mechanic we all know the hell you went through to get that out thanks will keep the struggle real
Been doing toyota ball joints for 15 years now, some of the hardest even with a 50 ton press but the easiest way ive found is to prep the lower control arm with a flameless induction heater at the ball joint then transfer it to the press and press out its been pretty smooth so far. But Will you gots it its a bitch trust me!😂
Keep the videos coming will you show the real things we see coming in every day you and your guys keep it real so keep doing what your doing you and your crew have a great time
This was what a local guy showed me. Remove the retainer ring. He then took a plastic cup of some kind and cut it so it would fit in the retainer channel. This left the top of the ball joint in the cup. Then carefully pour in liquid nitrogen. In most cases he said supper chilling the upper part of the ball joint will make it come out easier because it forces it to shrink. If it's still not budging quickly heat the control arm and it should pop right out.
Man, props for putting up with everyone's BS. This job is hard enough without having to do it in the public eye. That said, my only gripe with your process here is the lack of safety glasses while using the press, but I'm probably just paranoid lol. Also, it's definitely not necessary, but if you do press jobs with any regularity, upgrading to an electrically operated hydraulic press makes these jobs a little more bearable.
Those ball joints are a bitch to get off on a good day. I just bought the whole lower control arm with ball joint. I know they cost more but it hate changing those things 😄
Ok I love your videos and understand why your mad at keyboard warriors I’ve been doing it for 35 + years I just love to watch and unless I can give advice I’m just watching 🇦🇺
This is why I am ordering Icon control arms w/ the upgraded Balljoints pre-installed - I feel the pain and I hate Balljoints for this exact reason (just like i hate Maxima hub bearing replacements).
You were more patient than i would have been i would have liquid metal'ed the internals of the ball joint and used a die grinder to slot each side of the remaining ball joint till i could split it releasing it obviously you did it the more correct way and would also require you having a cutting torch and if you don't sol on that idea
I am a mechanic for a fire dept. run into this some times with some of the cars and ambulances we get in. that's when I call Rosie over to play.... Rosie is Rosie Red. the oxy-acetylene torch, can't be stuck if its liquid.
oh man this reminds me of last year when It took my three days to get the ball joint on the upper control arm of my is300 out of the spindle - i ended up drilling through the stud and then hitting it with the air hammer for a long time. Can't imagine how much more difficult getting the actual joint out of the arm would be - good job friends and that's awesome you didn't charge extra
People on the internet are gonna be rude and ignorant, that's just how it is unfortunately. You just gotta learn to ignore them and not let it get to you. Also, I love your content, you guys are amazing.
The toyota lower ball joints suck. i did my 07 Tundra and made my lower ball joint a stun grenade from heating it up so much that the ball shot out from the cup at Mach Jesus and gave myself hearing loss from it. louder than my rifles.
1. These keyboard warriors have probably never worked on their car and get their education from tiktok. 2. Will will absolutely skewer you with his words. He said in his Q&A he loves to cook, and cook he does 😂 3. Will owns his shop, how the hell do you think he got his own shop? By being very experienced and knowledgeable. Hilarious video, you absolutely roasted the haters 😂
I feel the pain. I work on bigger trucks with king pins. not ball joints, I just cut the whole front axle beam out to do it. you cant with that obviously. look a a hydraulic press its worth the safety side.
I saw the videos about how people buy their parts from the dealer for stupid prices. And that they should buy from the real manufacturer, and I have a question for Will : what manufacturer makes Nissan's OEM shocks and struts?
It funny, you can be a mechanic but still have zero mechanical compression. Just because you saw it done one way, one time, doesn't mean that's how every single version is done. These keyboard worriers trying to act like freshmen in a high school auto class.
Some people really don't know what the hell they're talking about, they're calling themselves out for being youtube mechanics while real mechanics actually know what they're doing. Never listen to youtube comments ever. Let us call them out for you, don't need to waste your breath.
I dont even argue anymore because its not worth it. In 10 years when there are almost no techs anymore because the field is dying that 400 dollar an hour door rate is going to make up for all the bullshit I have been subjected to in the last 14 years.
Honestly, there’s not only ONE way to do things, there are multiple ways for multiple different people. One person may not do it exactly how the other does or Vice versa. I don’t see any of these keyboard warriors owning their own shop and having a honest heart. Honestly I wish I could work in this shop, I’d love to and want to learn from this guy, he’s absolutely awesome.
question, i bought a muffler and the extrender to attach to the muffler i didnt put it on it was my step dad but i look under my car and it was gone would it be cheaper to buy the pipes and muffler section in stead od buting the attachment again also im not a car guy could i also have tips on how to put things on the right way if i dont have the money for the muffler but the attachment to the pipe and muffler?
lol oh god I love it !!! and most of those people who are commenting your going the wrong way have more then likely only have done ball joints on 1 car or ruck before and have never done multiple car brands or run a damn shop like yourself LOL
Will, totally entertained with your content. Love the environment you have going in the shop. But bud, you have to admit the keyboard warriors are funny with "you should or that's wrong"

Toyota over-engineering at work. All mechanics have to deal with Engineers doing what Engineers do: make life harder on Mechanics.

This is what every RUclips mechanic should do to their key board warriors LOL...
now thats a good dude!!! didnt charge extra !! i want him as my boss!!!
No joke Will is the main reason I subcribed and follow on social media funny and is someone you probably gain knowledge off when working

I’m sure Will is more than willing to hire all the keyboard mechanics
Funny how people think they know so much but know so little. I like how you call them out it’s hilarious.
😂Pokémon background 🎶 is perfect for all these videos 🤣😂

Dissing haters with gen 3 elite four music in the background is absolute gold 😂🫡
i love when Will makes people look stupid on the inter😂
You know it’s serious when they have to use the battle theme instead of the littleroot town theme.
lmaoo dude i love your channel and i love how real you are.. tell those stupid keyboard warriors

This is why a lot of people say don't read the comments cuz of no good people like those 🤦🏾🤦🏾🤦🏾
If Hank Hill ever sold car parts, " I sell ball joints and ball joints accessories".

Pokemon boss music makes it better for some reason.
As a former Toyota mechanic who lives in Ontario; I can confirm how notoriously Tacoma and Tundra balljoints are.
I agree with Will. I just buy the complete unit so I don’t have to fight those. Don’t like pressing them.
You can blame the engineers who came up with that way of a ball joint on the lower control arm.
I think I just found my new favorite channel

You do a great job Will, The only thing is wear safety glasses at least. You never know when something can splash/splinter off.

all of a sudden everyone on instagram is a certified ASE Mechanic

Its the same type of ball joints on the tundras and i fought with mine for a week trying to replace them haha.
I know this is all hardened whatnots, but would it have been possible to drill straight down into the ball, to relieve some of the tension?

How much to swap lower ball joints on a 2021 GX 460? 😅
Let me guess will it was a 3rd gen taco. I have a 1st gen tundra that suffers from that same lbj issue.
