I quite enjoy the darkness at times. Come the end of February, I will probably be complaining in true British fashion. We're good at complaining. have a wonderful Christmas 🎄
I also agree with Dana below! Unlike before when I started viewing that never did come out so just so you know I really enjoy your videos even more so now especially with the humor. Awesome Mate! N I’m not from Australia lol
I love you adding some bushcraft to your overlanding adventures. It amazes me how many "overlander/car campers" have no idea how to make a fire or safely chop wood without ridiculous tools... adding some MCQbushcraft is always so welcomed. Man i learned a lot from you! Cheers from Canada a long time MCQ student if you will :)
Mike, my partner and I have loved and watched your videos for so long, but I think this is the first time in a very long time that we've seen you look so excited about something. it was great to see, and it's awesome that the locker worked out so well! I think we were almost as thrilled about it as you were 😄
26:41 I love watching you sniff that wood Mike. Again at 29:03 Who doesnt get hard sniffing a nice fat wood! Love the front locker. That was epic lol. We are all really glad to see you as always Mike. Your humour makes people around the world smile! Cool stuff.
Just found your channel today while watching my usual overland feeds. Happy to see some swedish overlanding, not that often you come across that content. I really appreciate your content and I must say I envy your amazing skills to build and rebuild your truck. I love overlanding but when it comes to maintaining and improving my Patrol I'm reliant on other people's skills. Thanks for a great channel!
Its not so common over here, especially in the north. Its the kind of place where there are no mechanics that do this kind of work, well actually there is me haha. I do this sort of work for people sometimes. Thank you for watching and for the comment!
I just love your solo camping in winter... Yes we get a winter here in Australia QLD, but nothing like you're winter. We have to drive to another state and be in the High County to experience something similar. Great video, I enjoy the awesome scenery you show also.Go the mighty XJ Jeep. Cheers. 👍🇦🇺
Found your first channel probably in the last year of regular posts, touring Europe, Norway and Sweden. Later found out from a friend how closely you lived to us on the edge of the Cotswolds (sure I recognise some of the bushcraft locations now). Glad you carried on creating and got back to enjoying it in the new channel. Mainly watch for the ventures out, but glad the west country humour is getting a wider audience too😂. Your probably safer with Bigfoot over there than the locals over here! 🤞👍😁 Cheers!
I'm sure I'm safer with the big man than walking through Wotton highstreet. Is your surname Woodward? That's a pretty old English name. I had a friend called Mark Woodward back in school. We lived in Charfield together and spent many a day blowing things up, as you did in the 90s. I'm sure you have been to all the places from the old channel if you're local. I revisit them when I return from time to time, and it's strange. Thanks for watching and for the comment 👍
@WorkshoptoWilderness Yeah talking to my dad, quite a few Woodward families came from Stinchombe back in the day. I don't know of any Mark's in the family though. I think the name arrived with the Normans. Regularly bimble around the local woods, must be something I've inherited from the ancestors👍
Love winter camping--from the looks of it, you do too Mike! Also, love the throw back to the MCQBushcraft days with the fires. Looking forward to future winter adventures that you care to share with us.
It's so nice watching a familiar face on these outdoor videos with a different style,.moving away from bushcraft and hunting but keeping the outdoors adventure with the jeep. Feels like a natural progression that I've kind of followed myself over the last 10/15 years, having two kids myself too. Brilliant watch as they've always been. Hope you and family are keeping well man
Thanks for watching and I appreciate the comment. I will certainly hunt again and probably within the next year or two but for now I can wait. Having the kids certainly slows me down on what I get up to on these outings. I could literally sit around a fire and drink tea all day sometimes lol! I just miss Megan sometimes as we always did this together, but perhaps my youngest will join me one day. Anyway thanks for watching for all these years and best wishes to the family!
Dude! To be able to watch you camp and improve your XJ with the seat mods and other issues that I would want to address with mine is something I am super thankful for. I'll be doing that "pull-pill" mechanism myself. That is, if I can't figure out a way to make the seat turn 180 degrees easily...
I'm glad you enjoy them and find them useful! Making the seats swivel around would be sick. You could make the inside like a van and chill and sit down in the evening in the driver seat while facing the back. There must be a way but it would require a new base with swivel right? Thanks for watching.
@WorkshoptoWilderness I'm sure you're more familiar with the seat brackets than I am, but yeah. I assume it would take a custom job or macgyvering an existing swivel bracket in.
I'm going to try it. I've seen some notary kits online. I think the problem is that the seat won't rotate past the door and centre console. The gap is too small. With some work, I'm sure it's possible, but like you say it's going to be a mission!
This has to be one of my favourite channels! Love the humour, the outdoor adventures, the tinkering with the rig, bloody brilliant! Must be so much fun camping out in the snow, we are lucky here in Australia where I am if it gets below zero (high 30’s, low 40’s in summer). Fixing up an old L300 van for some camping with my son, hoping for some fun outdoor adventures of our own. Keep them coming, love the videos!!!
Ah, that sounds fantastic with the van and your son. What memories and a beautiful country to explore in. I'm glad you enjoy the channel, and I appreciate you watching! Merry Christmas and a happy new year.
Should be watching *Dog soldiers* that would help you get the old chap awake. even in that cold. it kept me awake for days after i watched it. perfect watch just before going out into the woods.
AH that's a quality film. I haven't seen that in years actually. Its on the list for the next camp! I better bring some spare boxers. Thanks for watching
Just found your channel. Love it! I sleep in my jeep too and sometimes in my rooftop tent. Other times I sleep in my ground tent. I keep my jeep as a five seater as well and modified it to have the ability to deploy my bed anytime. Great content. Bonus points for being funny. Love it 🤣
Thanks for checking it out and for watching. Ah, nice, it's definitely useful to keep the vehicle versatile! I will be ground testing this summer, which I'm looking forward to!
Great trip enjoyed your location and seeing you and the Xj in action! I’ve heard some guys successfully swap the two door Xj latch for the four door which folds the front seats down further.
You need some rain guards on your windows so you can leave them cracked without getting wet! Make sure you get some that slide into the existing window track seal and not the ones that stick to the outside. Weather tech makes a great set that I have had on all my cars.
Nice to see you getting the car camp setup more dialed! While the ferro rod is nice, I miss the days when you’d bushcraft a fire using petrol and a flare, but hey this new you is nice too.
The old art of petrol and a flare...... the good old days! The setup is pretty good at the moment but the windows need some kind of screen that isnt a pain in the ass to fit. Maybe just some thicker foam will do? Thanks for watching.
Nice trip, looks to be working well with the in Jeep sleeping set up. I have to say the stance on your XJ is about as good as any I have ever seen. If that is it for content until after Christmas I hope you and the family have a great festive season!
I love this channel...ive no jeep... don't live in Sweden.. ive an old xtrail and live in Ireland. ... never change how you do it lol... highly enjoyable
Another sweet video mate! We just left central Asia (stored the car in Kazakhstan) before the big winter hits and kinda miss the snow and traveling in our car now :O. Love the "bloopers" and the outro/channel trailer
Hey McQ, you still have those fire craft skills! I've been camping in my SUV for several years now, and this year I added a 12 V electric blanket, I sleep toasty warm definitely a game changer. Pretty small draw on my EcoFlow river pro
What kind of drawer do they pull? I mean, I don't think I need one, but out of curiosity, it could be a game changer for extreme cold. Thanks for watching
Mike really enjoy this channel was an original follower from your old bushcraft channel. I like this channel more because we get to see your sense of humor and I am a Jeep owner as well so there’s that 😁
I'm glad you enjoy the content. Its a enjoyable experience for me also. The snow is absolutely insane now. I think almost 1 meter since this video. I think the next camp will be a mission! Thanks for watching.
You’re my hero and truly an inspiration. Gotta get my jeep in the garage and dialed in. Got two limited slips ready to go in and they’ve been calling my name.
Ah, nice, they should make a huge difference! I'm happy to provide a bit of inspiration, and thanks for the comment and for watching. Merry Christmas and have a good one 👍
Great to see the woodsman match put to good use 👏 shame big ass could not be with you 😂 nice 👍 one once again keep them coming .Oh Mike to you and your family happy Christmas 🎄 and a good new year. Catch you on the next one 👌
Mate - I loved this video . Your off tap and loose . It's great to see . Been on shift change from night to day shift had your channel rolling for the last 16 hours lol . Loving it .
Ah that's a shame! Its never nice when you have engine problems. Hopefully you can get it sorted and have some fun. Thanks for watching and merry Christmas.
Thanks Mike. Really enjoyed that. What if you fitted a rotating base to the passenger seat then you could spin it round 180 degrees and you would have all the space you needed!
That would be a great mod. I appreciate the info. Finding a two door here might be possible. There are scrap XJs here and there, so you never know. Thanks for watching
Love your videos - so relaxing. These are almost my home woods :-) I grew up in Sollefteå. Going up there over Christmas now, with family - and the totally booring family car. Would have loved to come there with my LC and all set for camping, your style
Ah nice, so this is your local area then! Its a beautiful part of the country, certainly for fishing and being in nature. I know the feeling with regards to the family car haha! Maybe if you come back with the LC, you can let me know. Ha en fantastisk jul och tack för att du tittar!
@@WorkshoptoWilderness Hi, Back in the south again, with darkness and rain... :-/ Miss the snow!! Will for sure see if I can meet up another winter, if you are around with the Jeep and snow :-) Take care Mike
Awesome video as usual! I would love to see you collaborate with the Auzzies on 247 4x4. I reckon you'd have a blast! If you take vitamin d you must pair it with vit k2 or k3, the highest strength you can get.
Haha, Ian thanks for saying hello. Harry Ramsdens went out of business mate after we stopped surviving out there. Your always welcome mate! From a wildlife perspective there are some cool opportunities but its hard to find anything out here.
Love the rig, those tires would be great for a Canadian ice roads expedition! I lived in Edmonton on the North Saskatchewan River, if you fell through the ice there you'd be found in the spring in a different province! When I sleep in the 4Runner solo I remove the front passenger seats and the rear seat bottoms and headrests, then add a sheet of plywood under my mattress to make sure it's completely flat. You get a lot of storage under the plywood doing that. Once you set it up once all you have to do is kick your shoes off and slide over into bed!
It sounds like a great setup 👌 I don't mess around on the rivers, although many people do. Lives are lost almost every year. Lakes i do fish on, but the water is still, and the ice is thick. Thanks for watching, and Merry Christmas
Utterly brilliant, and thank you per usual! Amazing humor. How is the other XJ progressing? Last episode with the break down was very interesting, would love a episode where you declare your gear in terms of clothes, sleeping bags, mattresses etc. Also, how is Ivo doing with his Disco? Will he be joining you any time soon? All the best from Stockholm and merry Christmas!
The other XJ is on standby just for the moment. I'm hoping to have a complete floor for it in the new year, in which it can be welded up, painted and the interior rebuilt. In really looking forward to it so hopefully it arrives and fits! I've been thinking of an episode on camping gear, something more detailed, so I appreciate the idea. Ivo I don't see anymore unfortunaily. He didn't seem to like me prioritising my family over a trip we had arranged, he flipped out and got personal. Hes a nice guy and I wish him well, but I'm fine with the friends I have, despite us having different interest. Thanks again for watching and also the idea on a video!
@@WorkshoptoWilderness Hope all is well and happy new year! Could you please tell me the UK brand of your new axe (same as Ray Mears I seem to recall) and perhaps your view in comparison to the swedish Gränsfors bruk. All the best!
Ah yes, the hurl is back in the UK in my parents garage. When I ran my first bushcraft course in the lake District an Irish man named Connor gave it to me as a gift. I've kept in my Jeep ever since. Its sort of a memento much like the toy my son gives me before every trip haha. Thanks for watching!
They are from a company called Loyo. I have a discount code on one of the videos on the channel. If you look at the channel page, you may find it on there. They are nice looking lights but they are shite in a blizzard.
In Italy, in the province of Florence, I have a small, completely original Suzuki Jimny 4x4 with a 1.3-liter m13a petrol engine from 2001, which I use for country and mountain trips on dirt roads and forests, as well as for trips on muddy terrain. On the road I use a set of Ziarelli retreaded tires, model Mud Power m+s 205-70-15, and then I have a set of Hankook Dynapro atf RF 10 m+s off-road tires in the original size 205-70-15.
I am really glad we get to see and enjoy your humor on this "new" channel.
Haha I'm glad you enjoy it and thanks for watching!

@WorkshoptoWilderness merry Christmas!
Welcome back.
You prefer being in the bush n wilderness. I prefer you wrenching in the workshop. What kinda middle ground can we reach?🤔
What a rig!
Hahaha love your videos you make me laugh mate greetings from mexico
Thanks for watching, and Merry Christmas
this video came out just in time I was starting to think I was going to have to go camping my self , but know I don't for another week
Mortal Kombat moon! I thought I was the only one seeing the dragon 😂😅 maybe i'm not that crazy🎉

Thanks for watching, and Merry Christmas
great~~~~
You’re a funny dude! Cracking me up 😂
Caught a glimpse of a sliotar at 21.30s please tell me there is a hurl somewhere in the jeep.
Great vid as usual👍
Ah yes, the hurl is back in the UK in my parents garage. When I ran my first bushcraft course in the lake District an Irish man named Connor gave it to me as a gift. I've kept in my Jeep ever since. Its sort of a memento much like the toy my son gives me before every trip haha.
Thanks for watching!
@WorkshoptoWilderness you could use the hurl to fend off the other fella in the woods😂😂
It must upset you having to put up with that weather and country you must miss the UK so much 😂👍🏻🏴
Sense of humour brilliant aswell 😂
Love ”hur ska jag annars få stånd” 😂
Good video ! thank you
Thanks for watching
Nice one Mike
Thanks for watching.
What headlights are those mate? Love the videos keep em coming!
They are from a company called Loyo. I have a discount code on one of the videos on the channel. If you look at the channel page, you may find it on there. They are nice looking lights but they are shite in a blizzard.
@ good to know, did your old led’s perform better in those conditions?
The old ones were no better. These ones are okay, but they just don't get quite hot enough.
@ probably the one and only pro of the old incandescent bulbs
I really want to join that Trips...
Thanks for the laughs. “Shut up” oh he knows what we were thinking
Haha, I know! Thanks for watching
I felt this fear when you looked for tea bags, some scary shit.
It was almost a trip ender. Thanks for watching and Merry Christmas
@@WorkshoptoWilderness Merry Christmast you filthy animal!
Absolutely fantastic drone shots, what type of drone do you have? (Sorry if you’ve done a video on this, i must have missed it)
Thank you! It's a DJi mini 3 pro. They are not bad once you set them up right. I would recommend the 4, though now. It has sensors at the sides.
Nice video, I’m just curious I noticed in all your trips you hang your Cookpot... Why is that?
In Italy, in the province of Florence, I have a small, completely original Suzuki Jimny 4x4 with a 1.3-liter m13a petrol engine from 2001, which I use for country and mountain trips on dirt roads and forests, as well as for trips on muddy terrain. On the road I use a set of Ziarelli retreaded tires, model Mud Power m+s 205-70-15, and then I have a set of Hankook Dynapro atf RF 10 m+s off-road tires in the original size 205-70-15.
