- I know this one is years away from the 70's yet it has that 70's soul vibe updated to the 90's.
Sheryl was working hard behind the scenes working with Michael Jackson, Don Henley and George Harrison before she turned solo artist. Born February 11, 1963 to musical parents it was only a matter of time before she attended university to earn a degree in piano playing. Then she taught music school to children for a short time and headed to California.
She was one of Jackson's backing singers and you can find pictures of her in 80's garb wig and all in hair glory. Signed to a label, she began work on an album that got cut short when executives heard it and dumped those sessions which cost 250K to start over. She had been jamming with a studio band and that gave the album the workingman's view and sound she was looking for and wrote the songs that would populate her smash debut album.
One song in particular was not coming together but the music was hot. So she pulled out her book of poetry and overlaid the verses onto the rhythm track and free associating lyrics. She considered it to be a throwaway tune, ie the B side of a single. The first single "Leaving Las Vegas" was on the down direction on the chart when executives issued "All I Wanna Do" and the song skyrocketed to the top, stopped by Boyz II Men "I'll Make Love To You" for six weeks but did hit #1 on the Adult Contemporary Chart.

Oooh All right. I remember making an extended version from the album version but was limited to repeating the bridge or lengthening the chorus, that was back in 1998. Nice to hear an extended version from the stems or an unreleased instrumental track. This was one of Sheryl's best to me
