Love these guys & this song!!! At this exact moment, I'm on a Greyhound bus, heading to Alabama to spend this 4th of July with my all time favorite cousin, we use to listen the Doobie Brothers, while riding our bikes, with a transitor radio taped to the handlebars!!!!!!!
You are so right!!! If you were a kid of the 70's,(12-17) life was so awesome, I remember listening to this song on my transitier radio!! God, us some awesome, & safe summers!!!
Me too. Our groovy hippie neighbors across the street had this album. I used to babysit their twins. I would play this song over and over. So I saved up my money and went to Tower Records and bought it for myself.
This brings back great memories when we heard this we just had to get up and dance this is one of there best wish we could go back to the great old times love the banjo inthe tune arre just great 🤩🎼🪕🎶
Another one of those allegedly cornball AM tunes I have never been able to resist, because what the people need is a way to make them smile. WHOA OH OH, LISTEN TO THE MYOOZIKK!!! YEAH!
We had finished exams and started having house parties in December 1973. We played this song over and over and it became our theme tune. Good memories !!!!!
perfect!!!!! I listened to this song 1000000 times, but never with such fidelity. excellent better than 50 years ago, you made the musicians rejuvenate
You can actually hear Patrick Simmons' banjo picking on DiscoCat's extended version of one of my all time favorite songs, the one that shot the Doobie Brothers to nationwide popularity. I was hearing that song when it first came out in the summer of 1972. I can't say enough good words and phrases concerning DiscoCat's fantastic work. Ohhhh yeahhhhhhhh. Listen to the music, all the time. Especially when DiscoCat accomplishes his magical magic. Ted Templeman, eat your heart out.
I concur 100 percent Thomas!!! I have a fond memory, it's watching the Doobie Brothers on a Friday night show called The Midnight Special, it's a fact that if your band/ group was on the midnight special on a Friday night, your album went platinum on Saturday, after I finish my paper route, it's straight to the record store!!!
What's left to say that hasn't already been said here? This is the most wonderful rendition of this great Doobies' tune on all of RUclips. Probably in all the world. Thank you for it and for the outstanding job you did with it, Mr Cat!!
In my native country, Peru, nobody knew about "this" music, when I heard Listen to the Music for the first time...WOW, by the age of 15 had my first band and this one was our song (of course we sounded terrible!!! LOL)...WHAT A SONG!!!!!
I'm from Peru also, and i knew a lot about "this" music [in the early 70's], so did all of my friends, we used to play this song with my band [Vertigo] also, and i think we did a pretty good job
I'm a Canadian living in Ecuador for six years now and the only music I heard for the first year was reagatone probably spelt it wrong because I hate it! Every song sounds the same! Or it's Red Hot Chili Peppers, who I like but back in Canada every third song on the radio was rhcp, so I thought I was going to escape it, but, it was even worse when I moved here, So I got a major dj gig during a big festival and played music they never heard before, still dance music because Ecuadorians live to dance! I'll tell you this much, I ROCKED IT! Everyone knows my name and are always asking me to give them new music! Viva la Ecuador!
Totally agree but sadly gotta listen to the news (if we can find the truth) as if we don't how can we educate ourselves and find out what the scum are up to.... but totally agree Listen to the music bro.
Listen... to the right music... it usually provides the current events as well. Hip Hop; Folk; Punk... and even "some" Country music includes some form of "edutainment".

I was a waitress at Pizza Hut back then and when the customers left at the end of the night, we slammed this song out on the speakers and I mean LOUD!!
I thought that too. I can’t recall hearing that on the original, or if I did not so forward as it is here. It’s adds a beautiful accent to the track. (Just checked on Spotify - it’s there, just not as far forward in the mix).
Eu nunca tinha escutado neste versão. Top. Dá para ouvir a qualidade dos arranjos da música. Baixo fodasticco. Até um instrumento parecido com um bandolim. Muito massa.

You can hear Tiran Porter's bass here too. The McDonald era had the bass mixed way higher than the TJ era.
Stems/multitrack used here?
This guy knows what's going on,rite on brother, and yes the awesome banjo, crystal clear, how cool is that.
@@rocknrollpat I would like to know the 'how' of these versions - they are superb.
