I just did the same swap but a bit differently on my channel. Using the fourth GEN u bolts and spring plate was definitely the way to go. Overall was a very quick and easy swap. Only took about 10 hours. Thanks for the inspiration.
Nice Video man, I thought about doing this on one of my 2nd gen trucks, but ended up getting a front and rear Disk from an 02 for cheap. Gonna swap those diffs into my 97 12 Valve and do the front 3rd gen Pad and Rotors upgrade. Might have to Film it and put it on my Pathetic Channel.
@@fuelishgarage6587 I am pretty sure if your truck is older then 2000 you can't. Have to have the dual piston calipers to begin with to do the 3rd gen stuff. That's why I am getting rid of the 97 stuff and the pressed in rotors garbage. Alot easier to do brake jobs.

I was thinking of doing the 3rd gen brakes up front too

@@doserdiesel well maybe I will swap out my front axle too then lol
@@fuelishgarage6587 I have heard of guys putting in Front 3rd Gen Diffs. One guy on the forums said it bolts right up but can't confirm or deny it.
That’s a better way to do it!!!!!!!
sick build!
We’re you able to hook the parking brake stuff back up or did you just delete it?
yea I used the 4th gen rear parking brake cables they matched up to the 2nd gen intermediate cable
Did you swap out the proportioning valve ?
how did you get the perch angle to pinion angle
did AMA axle have 4.10 or 3.73 gears ? cause 2nd gens only came with 3.54 or 4.10. ya got make sure ya got matching gearing from front and rear
my truck is a solid front axle but 2wd and your correct about the 2nd gens and the axle I swapped in has 3:73s
yea it has 3.73 but I'm 2wd
nice
Did your speedo end up working?
yea it actually worked great just was a little off since the tires are way bigger
@@fuelishgarage6587 did you use the AAM sensor or the Dana sensor?
@@wilsonsperformance8575 dana
nope still is reading slow but hey
The speed sensor in the rear end is for the abs. The Speedo gets its signal from the trans or the t case if it’s 4wd.
