Megh - Classical Guitar - A K Chauhan

- This particular composition is based on raag 'megh' , raga associated with the great Indian legendary singer Tansen who used to bring rain by the rendition of the raaga according to legends .
My composition does not deviate from from the orthodox rules of the raga tradition keeping Indian classical audience in mind but at the same time uses technical details of nylon string guitar playing style.Western classical players also should not feel out of place with extensive techniques of Indian classical music so the composition uses tremolo technique and harmonics, tremolo also brings out the flavour of rain.
Composition starts with alaap or intro which is not in fixed time followed by 'sthyai antra' or the middle part of the composition and then with the imitation of 'jhala' as done on a sitar and ends with a typical instrumental 'tihayi'.
The composition is suitable for both solo and Guitar/Tabla Duo as well. Tabla follows 'Teental' a sixteen beat cycle rhythm. Guitarist must pay attention to start the main composition on the ninth beat of 'teental' so that the rhythmic rules of Indian classical music are followed.
Much effort and thought process has gone in preparing this composition and I hope my audience and viewers will love this.I would be more than happy to provide you the standard notation score of the composition.Score can be requested via mail - anandkishorechauhan@gmail.com
