  • Enjoy an amazing hiking and backpacking in the Garibaldi Provincial Park! This hiking spot is located 1hour 30minutes from Vancouver, Canada.
We were able to make it to the Diamond Head trailhead in 2AWD from Vancouver (FREE parking available at the trail entrance). Despite of unsafe lake crossing, we had best time summiting all the peaks with stunning views.
From the parking lot, trail is wide gravel road, after hiking for just over an hour, we arrived at the Red Heather Meadows shelter. As we continued up the trail past the shelter, it’s a narrow hiking trail for the next kilometer. As the trail begins to level, the two huts at Elfin Lakes can be seen off in the distance.
The trail to Columnar peak and The Gargoyles descends slightly from Elfin Lakes before climbing steeper and steeper until we reached the saddle between the Gargoyles and Columnar peak (NOTE: THIS TRAIL IS NOT NAMED, NOR SIGNPOSTED, so make sure you are following map). Climbing the Gargoyles and Columnar was extremely steeper (but short) and we had to use our hands to balance.
Trail to Opal Cone is well signposted halfway from Elfin Lakes to Rampart Ponds. Trail continues further than what you see in AllTrails app.
Getting to Rampart Ponds campground was challenging due to lake crossing however You’ll be rewarded with almost zero crowd and views of lakes and glaciers.
Last stop is Mamquam Lake, trail to this lake is so beautiful, open, and well maintained. It took us 20minutes to reach the lake from Rampart Ponds campground (mostly downhill).
Remember you need to book your campsite/day pass prior to visiting Garibaldi Provincial Park during summer/fall season.
We used AllTrail offline map to explore the park.
We really appreciate your subscription, like, share and comments.
