What is the feature you like the most in the 2024 Nova 20D by Coachmen RV? In-person events, campouts, Zoom chats, and more at www.GoSmallLiveLarge.com. Thanks for watching and subscribing :)
LOVE our 23 20D! We leave the twin beds and put 2 of the “slats” which makes a bed for our dog between us and we can still easily get in and out of bed without all 4 of the slats out.
Scott… I’ve been off the grid for a while. Literally and figuratively…anyway, thanks for your amazing content. Much love from me to you. Hell yeah! Oh, also… kinda love what coachmen is doing with class b’s..
Scott, thanks this video. We are picking up a 20D with double Li at SSRV in 2 weeks! I appreciate your help through this process with all the information you've provided. And, I'm shopping your equipment recommendation page also. If you recall we were 3 adults traveling to AKC events with our pup, but my mom passed so now it's 2 and a pup.
I love that it has that big battery bank and lots of solar. I wish more RVs would do it. putting in a small battery and 100 w solar panel and then touting it has solar is a joke. If you're going to do solar, do it right. love this!!
Wow, this is a great floor plan! I would always get annoyed that the bathroom had the best view in the house, but scooting it slightly back to put the huge refrigerator there, plus filling the back with windows that open is just lovely! Marine vinyl on the walls and ceiling instead some fuzzy or fabric mess is just sooooo good! The only thing missing is the Jensen that Nick loves so much 🤣🤣
Here’s a tip. On the Nova 20D that trash can will fit on the floor in that corner and the drawer will pass over it when it’s open. Perfect place for bread, chips … even a bottle of wine will stand up. LOVE it!
Love my Coachman Beyond. Just returned from a 5 1/2 week trip up the Calif and OR coasts. The “C” model works well for me with the couch that converts with the push of a button into a bed. The Ford chassis was my deciding factor as it boasts a 10 speed eco boost engine with AWD. It drives like a dream. The quality of the workmanship of the Coachman is what sets itself a part from most other “B” vans.
I find it difficult to compare lithium packages while shopping for a Class B. Some manufacturers list amp-hours, some list watts, etc. etc. How can I REALLY tell what the lithium capabilities are in order to fairly compare??
We like travado bathroom in the back twin beds. So when you are cooking your back isn't against the bathroom door . As you walk in it is open more as well.
For us, the problem with these combo bed/eating areas is they look great in the showroom, but for daily use, where is the bedding and pillows stored? Do you leave it on the bed, if not where is it stored? Most B’s simply don’t have that kind of storage. Unless these beds are really comfortable, which gauging by the height of the cushions they probably aren’t, lots of people add toppers etc to their RV beds like we do. Is that even practical with this setup? These “twins” are even narrower than the Travato’s, so am I really making up the “big” bed option every night if I want something better than sleeping on a couch? We use our Van for months at a time, over the last 4+ years and these practical “real life” considerations are often forgotten about by folks shopping for their first Van. The sales reps are often clueless to real world use of their products. Consumers need to go through a “day in the life” of their van, and decide if they want to be continually “converting” these larger multi use areas or go with floor plans with dedicated areas. Yes, it’s a great big eating area, but I can count on one hand the number of times more than 2 of us ate inside our “2” passenger van.
Love your videos Scott. So helpful without a bunch of nonsense. One difference that is huge for me between the Beyond and Nova is that the windows don't open in the back on the Beyond. I gotta have air. Also, another feature I want is a water filter. I "think" the Nova D has one. Really like this floorplan.
As always, it's a great video, Scott. You are a fantastic interviewer. You let your guests talk and only interrupt as needed for clarification, unlike some You Tubers I have seen who only want to hear themselves.
I think the floorplan is very functional . The setup is more like a home than one sardine can, meaning that the different spaces lead to more opportunity to change one’s perspective.
I love the capability of making a bed with just the two head end bed slides so us mobility challenged can easily get up in the middle of the night. A great floor plan. WHAT is the measurement between the twin bed? Will a tote fit between the beds?
I like the twin beds in the back so that the driver and one passenger (or relief driver) can quickly unroll their sleeping bags for a restful night's sleep . Also the refrigerator and freezer appears adequate for a week's worth of food including several complete frozen meals that require only the microwave for quick preparation. Conversely, the beds provide simple but adequate seating for daytime visitors or even a shared meal. The single induction cooktop MIGHT be limiting, but not if the owner adds a coffee maker, instant pot and the like to the list of cooking options.
There are the front seats for dining. But I would just fold the bedding in half or roll it to the bathroom end. You only need a small area for table. You can also put your own slightly wider custom mattresses in.
I like that my Clam screen room and rolled outdoor mat might be able to be stowed under that bench. Much improved shades and screens on the awning windows. Love, love the Aventa AC.
When people talk about quality in an RV, unless they have driven it and camped in it, they are referring to appearance and the sales talk. Best advice from this Coachmen owner is to talk to someone who bought the model you’re interested in and disregard 90% of the sales talk.
Not sure why they didn’t put the city water, cable connection, etc behind a panel. Any idea of what road clearance is? Automatic levelers? Thanks for the video as always!
I love this floor plan but I'm a little confused. I saw one yesterday in person and have seen some online in videos (with you). Sometimes there is a storage unit in the floor between the beds and sometimes there isn't. Some times the back cushion of the bed is one long piece and other times it is in two (two makes more sense to me). I did not see much storage under the bed in the 2024 Nova I saw in person yesterday. This is the model I want but I am confused by the minor (but important to me) differences in what is supposedly the same year and model.
Sunshine State RVs is a successful B-Van only dealer, because they focus on customer needs, do things the right way, and for the right reasons. $$ is a measurement of doing things the right way (usually), isn’t it. AND he has great tastes in watches right?
I hope they keep awning style windows in stock because the one over the sliding door track shouldn't last long and it is not a warning sticker that will prevent that.
Can you carry any passengers in the back. The 20C allows you to have a sofa with seat belts. Does the 20D allow for people sitting in the back? Are there any seat belts back there?
Oh no! The valves are exposed outside! This means that you won’t be cold weather camping for much time. Went skiing in my Airstream 23FB and froze the valves, had to wait for over a week for them to thaw.
Novakool, I know it seems like I would be joking about that but that's actually the name of the company that makes the refrigerator. I've seen it in person and it's huge for a class B
How comfortable is the couch/bed for sitting as well as sleeping? The induction seems close to the wall...wonder how it would handle splatter? A metal sheet might have been less worries. Looks like a great van option...maybe for you after Miss Lilly retirement?
So I can't confirm 100% but our ProMaster has Nexen, we bought it used and it had 38,000 mi in the original tires so we replace them and just opted for the same brand. Some people will swear by other brands for ride quality. I was happy with the fact that we got over 40,000 Mi before we replaced the tires and I just opted for the same. They are 225/75 R16, all four were somewhere around a $1,000 installed, I'm going to suggest Discount Tire just because I made so many calls and a lot of places can't lift an RV because of the weight and height in the location of the tanks and Discount Tire will use a jack.
I can't believe how amazing this build is for the price. I watch Nick's videos constantly I'm flying down to Gainesville in the very near future to see what I want because of their amazing selection . this model is amazing as I stated and that dovetail design for the drawers means longevity and when you're spending this kind of money you don't want it falling apart in a year like some of the thin plywood stuff that is on the market. Not a big fan of that hot plate as a matter of fact I can't stand them ,so as long as there's propane on board ? a line can be connected to a dometic DS1 and there goes that problem solved... Also I have my e-bike to consider that goes inside not outside because of its value so that would fit just fine in this and I have two cats I have to travel with and plenty of space under that seat for their private time..lol . Again X-cellent video I'm glad you guys team up so I've got the best of both worlds watching this video...🙂
I’ve always had propane stove and thought I would hate the induction but now that I’ve used it I actually love it! It heats faster (believe it or not), doesn’t heat up the van and cools quickly. You couldn’t get me to go back to propane.
So it looks like the 2024 model has two seat belts in the back although I can't imagine it's very comfortable for a long trip but Coachmen does offer the 20c which is a sofa in the back and that if I remember right has three seat belts so it would be able to carry five. I think that they are coming out with a pop top version that can sleep to more but you can get a mattress that goes across the two front seats so you could theoretically sleep three
If you have guests I suppose they sit on the sofas looking at each other than getting to look out the windows. I'd never go to that hassle to fold out into a bed, or just leave it a bed forever. It would be either drive or lay down only.
Don, assuming you haven’t driven nor park that van in a standard parking spot before? The van length is about the same length as a Ford F150 four-door pick up truck. Once you drive and park you’ll understand that it really is not that big of a problem. 24 feet long van completely different story.

On many RV vans, there is a “stop” screw that prevents operating that window.

Definitely a design flaw.
