Why do People HATE this Iconic Las Vegas Hotel
The Flamingo has been an iconic hotel on the Las Vegas Strip for decades but over the past few years it has gotten called the Dirty Bird due to a lot of bad reviews about it's quality declining. We read some many 1 star reviews over the month prior to arriving that made us worried so we share them and give a review of our own.

Please share with us your experiences at Flamingo or another Hotel that had bad ratings but you booked anyway
Rio, The Linq, Treasure Island, MGM. We have had an overall good experience at each one. We have stayed at the Rio 3x! Within the past 5 years ( we liked it!) The Linq twice ( Hash House!!!! ❤). Treasure Island once and MGM once which we loved that pool experience too!!! We loved the pool experience at the RIO! lol (it was our first) oh and we LOVE CARLOS AND CHARLIES!!! been there twice, the environment is cool, food was good. Nachos!!! Never stayed at Flamingo but Go Pool twice and we have so much fun there!!! It’s a different type of fun from like the MGM pool. Awe I wanna go back to the MGM pool!! lol lazy river vibes!! Love it!!!
The next time you go, make sure you try and go or Fab room and you will see why the property gets one star reviews
Not exactly debunked. You had an upgraded room so less likely to experience those problems. Thousands of rooms so probably a lot of different experiences. We didn’t have any problems staying there except half the elevators weren’t working so there was always a line. Place in general is rundown but our room was fine. Great video as always

The probability of them having the same issues as these 1-star reviewers is quite low.
The issue at hand is how the staff delt with the issue. Look, no hotel is perfect, but
the ability and time the hotel can correct a fault is the BIG PROBLEM with the Flamingo.
This was my exact thought the second I head them say they were gonna "debunk the myths". Like seriously, just because you got a good room doesn't invalidate anything that anyone else experienced
I just stayed there last week. Hot water worked for me. The staff were attentive as well. I called for towels, and they bought them up within 10 min.

I think this is a great concept for future videos. Not necessarily trying to debunk or call people liars but just showing that everyone’s experience is different. I’ve never stayed at the flamingo but I’ve always enjoyed hanging around and walking through.

We love the Flamingo! Center Strip is where it's at. A quick stroll to Linq, Caesars, Harrah's , Cromwell and Horseshoe/Paris. We've never had a bad experience there. I'm glad that you tried it.

As a Caesars Rewards player I was thinking of giving the Flamingo a stay, I heard they had updated the casino floor, but wary of rooms, your review persuaded me to give it a try.

I stayed there in April in a “Flamingo” room and loved it! Great property, clean room with a fridge, and amazing location!

I have stayed at the flamingo at least 20 times. I love it. Rooms are great, I love the pink, the staff are great, always hot water, clean, central. Only 2 gripes the 2 devices on the resort fee. It should be unlimited and the parking. They have almost a whole floor for the Hilton hotel guests and they’re always empty and you can spent ages trying to get a space. It once took me an hour on a Saturday night to get a space. Advise if you have a car on the weekend park before 6pm otherwise you’ll be searching for a long time. Otherwise I love the Flamingo! 🦩

Peoples experiences here are real. This doesn’t change my mind. The hot water thing is notorious. You had a good experience, it looks like you were in a new room.
Thank you. Both experiences are real, ours and theirs. We don't deny that, but we also want people to see that while there are going to be lots of people saying a place is horrible it doesn't mean it every experience is bad.

People think they’re going to get Ritz Carlton rooms for $60 a night (plus the ridiculous resort fee). Go to Vegas to gamble, and then sleep in your bed. People need to quit their complaining. You get what you pay for. Great review!

I never pay attention to negative or positive reviews from first time reviews. I set the standard at 50 previous reviews for me to pay attention.
That is a good idea. I like to look at most recent reviews and definitely read 1 star reviews with a grain of salt

You inform us well without going on and on about it. Thank you for this Flamingos review. We stayed there for my niece's 21st birthday about 6 years ago and really enjoyed it. I've stayed at the flamingo for the past 2 yrs and going back in Aug. Our room has always been clean and comfortable no worries it's a great place that won't drain the bank plus close to everything

Excellent review! I don't care what anyone says, mid-Strip is THE best place to be especially at night. It has the most people and the energy is off the charts. Even if I am staying further away, I always head to the mid-Strip area because of the vibe. I want to be close to the action! I've never stayed at Flamingo but I might give it a try next trip. Cracking video yet again. Puts my mind at ease after booking flamingo for our next trip in January next year. Wasn’t expecting anything major from it but that looks really nice after seeing some bad reviews too 👍🏻

Comments pertaining to hotel staff and those interactions are what I pay attention to. Room quality on these old places vary greatly and once, at The Stardust, we requested a room change and they not only immediately accommodate us, they upgraded us for the inconvenience. Probably unusual result there but, if you’re pleasant in your request, you can get a good result.

How can you compare an upscale room with an everyday lower class room. This review really bothers me. Almost like your being rewarded to do this room.

I have stayed at Flamingo 10+ times in a basic room. What you are reviewing is far from what your showing.
We reviewed the room we had, we read a number of 1 star reviews that did not state what room they were in all with similar complaints which we condensed into the ones we showed. We can only share what our experience was, and we were not seeking a bad stay or room.
Not cleaning rooms, rude staff, leaving rooms dirty and hot water issues are not based on renovations, they show a system wide problem and if it was a consistent pattern we would have experienced them, but we did not.

What you got was a renovated room, what everybody booked and was complaining about was the unrenovated portion of the hotel. You’re right, you get what you pay for.

I got asked by some cousins to go to Vegas in sept , I was there in March and stayed at cesaers palace so when they said flamingo I brought up my concerns and they told me that we had rooms that had recently been refurbished and updated so fingers crossed

YOU JUST GAVE JUSTICE from the bashers. THANK YOU. FLAMINGO is my second HOME. I love it because of it's history and vintage look. I come here every month. This trip, I have arranged to stay for almost a MONTH. DEAL includes COMP and paying best rates in between BACK to BACK stay. I really love this place. SORRY to those who didn't experience the BEST. Maybe they should give it another chance.

Our room at Luxor didn’t even have a coffee maker! But it did have a Fantastic view over. The head of the Sphinx of the airport and sunsets.

I'm glad to hear you guys had a great time. We stayed at the Flamingo countless times before the Bellagio was ever built and before the Barbary Coast was there which then became the CromWell. I must say that the favorite part of the Flamino for us was the swimming pool. Which now is disappointing for us old folks. I'm not into day clubs. Last time we stayed there was back in 2012. We now concentrate our stays off strip like GVR and Red Rock. You kids do great work. Take care and good luck!

Oldest strip hotel, with little updates would explain some of the wear and tear. Since you’re center strip, not sure why you would need a car unless you’re driving in from out of town. Also, some resorts will waive the parking fee if you reach certain tier levels on their casino cards.

In the late 80's and through the 90's I stayed there many times. But the hotel was associated with the Hilton brand back then and was called the Flamingo Hilton (we got Hilton club points). Then in the late 1990's things started to change quite a bit. They did some room renovations and the rooms we got were not as nice as ones we had before. The Pool area actually had two pools; one was for quiet times and there was also a small water slide. Then they roped off the quite times pool and charged a fee to use it. I used the hotel's buffet many times but last time there the buffet was closed. I have not stayed there since the Vegas hotels began charging the "resort fees" and charging for parking. Those are the main reasons I don't go to Vegas any more

I have stayed there about 2x a year we have had very few problems over the years mostly with the buffet that closed in 2020. We never eat there as the prices are ridiculous. I will be staying there next week.

I've had both good and bad experiences at some of my favourite resorts. It can happen at any tier level. The efforts made by the property to resolve any issues are what matters. When I look at bad reviews, what I really look for is did somebody from the business care enough to post a response to address the issue.
It happens everywhere and that’s more what we were trying to show with this.
We loved it, super high floor with cool view!, remodeled, hot water, and did get extra towels, only complaint was how long it took to walk to the room lol!

I only went to the Flamingo back about 2012 to use the pool only and that part seemed pretty decent. I did not stay at the hotel so I can't say anything about it. The casino part was pretty dark inside so I didn't bother to gamble.
The pool is probably the best part so you did it right
We stayed at Vdara and loved it, but spent a lot of time at Flamingo and the Linq promenade. We ate at Carlos & Charlies one evening. It was fine. Average but not terrible. Good location.
Location is ideal and we love the Linq Promenade as well!
When we first started coming to Vegas, we stayed at the Westward Ho, always thought only rich people stayed at the Flamingo!
Crazy how times have changed
A year ago we stayed in one of the Go rooms. At that time they had no one at the reservation desk, it was all use the machines. When we got to the room, it had not been properly cleaned. It took over a day to get it cleaned. The water & shower were great, we were 3 floors from the top looking at the Bellagio(another plus). Not many places have a coffee machine or fridge. I wasn’t impressed with the pools(I don’t trust having to bring ID & have it laying around). My sister wasn’t impressed in the least with the state of the Flamingo from the first time she was there. It wasn’t grungy, it’s old & has the old Vegas feel. Would I stay there again…yes.
Haha I was unsure how you were gonna end about whether you would stay again or not. The place is far from perfect but that is what you should expect for the budget price tag that comes with The Flamingo. Is it for everyone - no, can they do things better - of course, but can you have fun there - absolutely
I used to do chair massage here. I can't speak for the rooms but it was a nice vibe downstairs. The bar and sport book was very chill and used to see a lot of couples get married. Great location in the middle of the action. If you don't like the stay then dispute the charges with your credit card (if you used one). I know the crappy places not the even think about but this is one I had never heard.
It was the first hotel I (Josh) stayed at for my friends wedding in 2005 so it will always hold a certain spot in my heart I guess
Obviously, You must have stayed in one of the newly remodeled rooms. That room looked pretty nice. Tina and I stayed at the Flamingo in 2017. The Flamingo had the worst check in experience we have ever had. It was horrible. There was no hot water then either. I complained. The room was pretty nice. We had a very large room with two TVs. The lady said the boilers were old. We stayed again in 2019 - the room was ok at best. Again, there was no hot water. Again we were told the boilers were old. The drain in the shower was clogged. They supposedly came up to fix the drain in the shower, but they didn't. I got down and actually pulled a rats nest full of hair and junk out of the drain with a coat hanger or something. It was nasty. But, I unclogged the drain. The entire atmosphere of the Flamingo had changed in a matter of a couple of years. We get comped rooms all the time at the Flamingo, but we have not gone back. We do like the casino floor. Maybe considering your review we might give it a chance - the newly renovated rooms seem better.
Thanks Walt for sharing. Obviously all experiences are different and it seems you really had some bad ones for sure. All we can comment on is what we experienced and it was fun getting back to MidStrip after a long time staying on the edges
I had a good experience as well. Sometimes only people who had bad experiences post reviews or they are expecting a 4 or 5 star hotel comparison when Flamingo is a 3 star hotel

I stayed last year in a comped basic room. No hot water! Stayed 1 of 2 nights and went to my comped nyny room. They were happy to accommodate me.

I’ve experienced the 20 min hot water. Complain multiple times and the people acted like it wasn’t a big deal.

I’m glad y’all went to the flamingo and wait for Mingo I love the pool area that is one of the best pools you can have them Vegas food wise they don’t have a lot of selections but if you go down to the part where they have the Ferris wheel. That’s why they don’t have a bunch of hotel restaurants inside cause I have them outside alone that little road but you’re in the middle of the strip. You can hit pretty much everything right there. I like it it’s good it’s not Caesar’s Palace, but it gets the job done.

I agree more with you guys on Flamingo than the weirdly over-angry 1 star review writers. I also tend to deeply discount their rantings when their posts seem overpopulated with exclamation marks and Cap letters. Their weird level of "anger" is very puzzling to me and perhaps is indicative of some other underlying issues in some of their lives. Thanks guys!

@@JoshRachael Yeah, we ended up staying at the Signature at MGM because we wanted a higher end resort…but I don’t miss the 30k steps that we had to do every day to get back and forth from mid-strip!

Here is my two cents. I've stayed at the Flamingo four times, starting in 2015. The first visit was great, clean and comfortable. After that, it has slowly gone down hill from there. First, the mysterious sewer smell in the lobby is nauseating. No one seems to know where it's coming from either. They put soap pumps on the walls in the bathroom/shower and they drip constantly, making a mess. The elevators allow anyone to go to any floor at any time. Not a safe thing in my opinion. They may have changed it since I've been there last, but I doubt it. If you don't get a Flamingo room, you're going to get a room that is sorely in need of an update and on the filthier side of clean. The restaurants are not impressive, including B&M. No more room service like they had when I first went. The ONLY things that keep this place open are...location, having a stop on the monorail, and the pool. That's it. The rest of the place is horrid. It's dated and in need of a complete implosion or gutting and redone. It's truly a shame Caesars is letting a lot of their properties go to pot. I'm looking at you Planet Hollywood. My advice is to forget anything Caesars and stick with MGM properties.

Hay guys I used to work there less than 2 months ago and those reviews are true you showed up after rush so yeah you will get in easy and I can tell you have a suit when you have these yeah they are going to be better next time buy a regular room especially a old flamingo room and you see the truth of the flamingo

Beware with roaches in the room!!! The safe in my room was not functioning, I reported it to front desk and nobody came to repair it

@@JoshRachael or zero stars. Since then I moved 30 feet and arrived in the LInq. But tellng the plain truth nobody apologized when I reported the roaches!!! (located by the window ... at plain sight!!)

Stayed there in 2021 for a quick birthday weekend. Mold in the bathroom, ceiling was peeling, chunks hitting me while I was in the bathroom! Worst room ever in Vegas! 21 trips to Vegas and this was the worst experience we ever had.

You Stayed at an Upgraded (Comp) Room... and it would be fair if you paid for the room, so how does this count??? Most of the negative reviews are from the regular rooms.

I stayed at the Flamingo about 10 years ago for a wedding. It was ok, not great, not that expensive.

The reviews are peoples reported experiences. The spectrum ranges from people reviewing that "never actually stayed there and simply give bad reviews to compensate from having empty lives" all the way to people that actually experienced these events.
In the end its just a random chance possibility.

Definitely worth a try. Don’t expect it to be as nice as Cosmo but expectations is key for every stay in Vegas. We also are freelancing our stays this year with a lot of different properties including Wynn and Fountainebleau later this year and maybe Paris as well
@JoshRachael freelancing, I like it! I'd like to do the same. We have a final Cosmo stay in July then Plaza in October. Going forward I'd much rather stay at new to us properties. It has gotten repetitive, for myself at least, mamacita could keep staying there every trip for the rest of her life, I think 😆
Haha that is probably why MGM will always be a primary for us - we love the fact that we can stay at 11 different properties and play at 8 or 9. They are not perfect but we would get bored if we stayed at the same place every time I think.
The old Go Rooms were some of the funkiest (in a good way) rooms I’ve stayed in. Used to have a whole denon sound system. Upkeep of those rooms have been declining for sure, but I believe they’re still in the process of upgrading all the rooms.
Flamingo is old Vegas. It’s what you make of the experience. It has, is, and will forever be my favorite place to stay for sentimental reasons.
Agreed, expectations is key. We didn’t go in expecting 5 star but found the positive around us even though it’s not the type of property we normally try to stay at
Staying here now. So gross and dirty. Celing leaking, maintenance has come out once with bucket to "collect the condensation ". Maintenance said leaking would resume in 8 hours, however leaking never stopped. Our floor is covered with towels, big wet mess. This is one of the trashiest places.

Flamingo might not be for everyone and there’s no excuse for having a room that not clean but my experience there have been surprisingly positive. The casino is lively and if you get a strip view room it’s picture perfect

If you are looking to save money, you DO NOT go to the Walgreens and CVS on teh Strip as they are very expensive. You go off the Strip to the location on Flamingo and Maryland Blvd
That requires a car or a ride service to get there. If people didn't drive then that is an added expense
@@JoshRachael You are right. We always drive from Arizona to Nevada to avoid the mess at McCarran Airport. While we stay on the Strip as we can get rooms under $30, no resort fees, and free parking as I have Caesar's Diamond Status through the Wyndham program, MOST of our time in Las Vegas is OFF-STRIP trying great, affordable restaurants and doing a LOT of shopping as we live in a rural area in Arizona.
We are staying at the Flamingo as my wife has always wanted to try it out. I warned her that she will be very unhappy as the pools in Las Vegas, unlike the local ones, are unheated

Cromwell is not new! It was the Barbary Coast since atleast 1985!

Correct but it does show just because a place had a lot of bad ratings it doesn’t mean everyone will have a bad experience
Stayed at Flamingo many times . The go room is great nice big bathroom and center strip .no restaurants to speak of and the food court is horrible! No buffet anyone. Which is fine we eat elsewhere. They do have self park for half the price as valet parking. However the pool is a nightmare, besIdes not having enough lounge chairs they have a deejay that plays the most horrible ass obnoxious hip hop and I dont know what and its sooooo loud your ears hurt . Now its a 21 and older pool but really!!! Never again. Beware folks unless your into the drunk party scene with profanity music...
I could go for the tunes being a little bit lower and add some chairs to the pool for sure. The pool definitely is a part pool

I am a fan of the Flamingo but your review is not based on a basic room, there is no coffee makers in the basic Fab, Go or Flamingo rooms your Executive Flamingo room is not a true reflection
Sure coffee maker I can understand but the rest of the complaints can be to any room and no one listed what type of room they were in when they had 1 star reviews
You would have more fun if you didn’t go to Vegas with your sibling

I just stayed there 2 months ago. I wonder how much The Flamingo paid you to do this video. My experience was similar to the reviews you read. (A compd room for review is suspect to begin with.)

I think to make this type of review accurate you need to look at the many different levels of rooms the Flamingo has. The Fab rooms and Go Rooms are quite different to the Flamingo Executive rooms. Much smaller than the room you had and very outdated decor. Many other youtuber videos have shown the peeling wallpaper etc.

It always amazes me how people can check into the same hotel on the same day and have completely different experiences.
I suppose when you have 3000 rooms, there are going to be some that are dumpy. At Flamingo, considering that it's a bargain property, springing for an upgraded room is a probably a wise choice.
We were lucky to get this one as a comp offer, which we were surprised by since we only got basic offers from a few hotels anyway, let alone upgraded rooms
Flamingo is old school Vegas. We went there for shows over the years and played slots before hand. I believe we saw the Righteous Brothers and Wayne Newton. The casino feels so closed in because of the ceiling. Food court was standard. As you mentioned, the promenade has so many choices just outside. Rachael mentioned going to bed early. Middle age has snuck in.😜 Thank you for your review and debunking the haters.

Surprisingly really nice room. Classic vintage Vegas vibe! Flamingo was the first place I ever stayed in Vegas when I was 21, so it'll always have a special place in my Vegas memories even though I probably wouldn't stay here now. Great review as always guys
Yes that’s the same for me (Josh) I stayed at Flamingo my first time in 2005 in a room with 4 guys haha, times have changed a bit

You can't debunk bad reviews and complaints just because those complaints didn't apply to you. I've had bad experiences with businesses where most of the reviews were 5 stars. It happens.

Pleasant surprise!
Overall I enjoy the flamingo. But with some cons. First, the pool water is about 33 degree. Second, the elevators are always jammed packed. Three, no buffet. So getting a good decent meal is hard. The check in is a nightmare.
Last, the hotel next door blasted rap crap on weekends until 4am. Don’t stay on that side of hotel.

Maybe maybe not, there are plenty of reviews that make claims of dirty rooms who had compd rooms here on RUclips.
I think the difference is we went in looking to enjoy our experience and others have gone in looking to find bad stuff
We used to stay at Excalibur A LOT! We were fine with it because it was cheap and we spend so little time in our room anyway. Never had a problem until they started pumping in some really nasty fragrance, and our tastes changed area-wise. Then we started staying at Imperial Palace (for a show time it then became The Quad, and now it’s The Linq), but got screwed when there was an unpredicted storm that resulted in the parking structure are getting flooded, they wouldn’t wouldn’t give us a room and frankly treated us like garbage (yes, we were nice and polite). They couldn’t possibly have cared less. Fortunately we got a room at Harrah’s. So after that, we began staying at the Flamingo, and we’ve never looked back. Have never had a problem that we didn’t get assistance with in a timely manner. 🤷♀️

This year i stayed 3 times there and loved it location is perfect and room was nice as a matter of favt just booked the flamingo again so its not that bad
