Kenny Rogers passed away in 2020 at age 81. He is known for his duet with Dolly Parton titled Islands In the Stream. Also his song The Gambler. He is in the country music hall of fame.

Lionel wrote this song for The Commodores but they weren't Interested. It was initially titled Baby. Someone from Kenny's camp told him about it and arranged for Lionel to meet Kenny in Los Vegas. Kenny was telling Lionel about the lady in his life and Lionel smartly changed the name of the song to Lady. And the rest is history. They became very close friends. Their's a song I'd like to suggest from The Commodores called Zoom. I think you'll enjoy it and there's a compelling story behind the song. It was written The Commodores bass player, Ronald LaPread and Lionel.
I second the recommendation ZOOM by The Commodores. She apparently hasn't gotten to it yet and it's been 3+ months. She is missing out big time on this song as a reaction. 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥

Oh Kenny Rogers voice can make you melt ….. he has a lot of duets with Dottie West , Dolly Parton , Sheena Easton , Kim Carnes , and yes he and Lionel Richie did this song together later in life …. It’s a must see ….. Kenny is Country , and he did some funky Psychedelic 60’s music . Kenny, was a great entertainer he started out in the 1960's playing a country/rock sound with songs like "I JUST DROPPED IN TO SEE WHAT CONDITION MY CONDITION WAS IN" I watched him when it was Kenny Rogers and the first Edition, then he became a major hit in country music, he sang many deuts with people but the most famous one was him and Dolly Parton, island in the steams, a massive hit song

Lionel Richie did an album of his music with different country singers, and Kenny was a part of it. They did a concert for Lionel to sing his music, and when Kenny came up on stage to sing, he told the funny story of how Lady was written 30 + years ago and asked Lionel to come on stage and sing it with him! I promise you'll LOVE it! They remained close friends through all of those years until Kenny passed away, recently. Here's the link:

I love that performance so much! That song was written when Lionel was trying to decide if he wanted to go after a solo career or stay with The Commodores. He and Kenny are in my top 3 singers, with Billy Joel, but Lionel is my favorite songwriter of all time! I've seen Lionel and Billy in concert, 3 times each, but unfortunately, Kenny passed before I was able to see him, live. Your reaction was so awesome! Kenny's library of songs is so great, but I know one of the songs he was most proud of was a collaboration he did with about 50 of the greatest singers of their time, to help bring awareness and food to the starving people of Africa. Lionel Richie and Michael Jackson wrote the song and Quincy Jones directed and produced it. They named the group USA for Africa, and the song is 'We Are The World'! So much incredible talent! Kenny commissioned Lionel Richie to write this song for him! He had allot of country Western Songs back in the early 80s This one “Coward of the County” and “The Gambler”. we’re among the biggest. Thanks for the lovely reaction.

No he passed away on March of 2023.
