Widmore never hated Desmond. He knew Desmond destiny was to go on the island because Eloise (his ex wife) and him read Faraday book He was fucking scared that Desmond would bring Penny on the island so he tried to protect her
He probably knew that Desmond's destiny was to go on a boat race and end up on the Island, due to being rejected by Widmore and wanting to prove him wrong. I always figured Eloise got flashes like Desmond did.
Widmore was undoubtedly an asshole but I don’t think he really hated Desmond out of a sense of elitism. Rewatching it’s clear he’ll do anything to keep Penny AWAY from the island, where Desmond will eventually end up. I think he hates Desmond because deep down, he’s scared of Penny meeting the same fate as Faraday.
Funny how important for Desmond that drink had been, same drink that was everything but important for Locke right before he was thrown from the building by his father.
The irony of this scene is Widmore basically compared his daughter to a small glass of expensive scotch. And then he washes it down like it's nothing. Such an awful, awful man.
Everything Widmore said and di was on purpose, just like Eloise was/did. She and him would have known about Desmond before he was even born with Daniels Faradays book she got in the past. Widmore and Eloise making sure everything happened. They were actually super serious characters.
If you think about it: £28000 (60 year scotch I saw online) per ml the cost of that would be : $28,000 / 1000 ml then * that by 10ml for a glass is $280 no? I think he makes more than that per month mate come on
Something just like this happened to me. My ex gf's father was a richa*sh*ole. He judged my family based on our neighbourhood. Anyway two months later we broke up for some other reasons.
@@ulysses4989 How desmond get into ocenic and meet charlie after widmore put him into electromagnetic room. Because he already in that island when the flight takeoff..
He drinks his whisky straight because he's colder than any ice would be
Lol
You do know non gasoline whiskey tastes like candy, right?
MacCutcheon's needs to hire a new advertising executive. This was the saddest whiskey commercial I've ever seen.
+Kurtis C. But also the best one. Tell me you love to taste that overpriced whiskey ;)
In fairness if Jim Robinson was selling whiskey, would u but it Kutis.
@@Eddiedoherty22 Wouldn't know. Never watched Neighbors, not a big drinker in the first place.
Haha

Alan Dale is an incredible actor and a lovely man. But this scene is the ultimate illustratation of evil.
Charles Widmore was an incredible villain
When I get bored I watch this and take a shot of whiskey when Widmore does, and then feel bad for Desmond.
😂
Amazing scene 10 years on
indeed
Charles Widmore sure is excellent at crushing a man's soul in seconds
this show is another level

Desmond: I like your boat. Did you make that? That’s cool.
Charles: This glass of whisky is worth more than you
Des: 🥲🫀

Expensive whiskey is for not-born-riches. Born-riches will never fall for this stupid trap. Same for expensive wine.
And Gucci, LV, Hermes products
Weird flex but ok
One of the saddest scenes of Lost.
Poor Desmond got absolutely roasted
13 years later. Before Facebook and Twitter, look kids this is how we used get taken down a peg. The future Father in Law. Stings doesn't it.
Facebook was a thing at the time.
Not like it is today, but it was.
“The worst thing she can say is no”

No sir, no sir, yes sir, three bags full sir.

He could've just said no
For such a high end whiskey, you think they would have had a more fancy bottle and label

Saw a 30 years old whiskey at my work and we charge 800$ for 1 shot so I would imagine a 60 years old would be way more
Aww Des, you’re worthy to me!
Maybe you're not worthy of him. He saved the world numerous times!
The best scene from lost
When you watch this scene Place close attention to Desmond’s tie. It changes
I can forgive the makers this mistake. :'-)
I'm already middle aged, but when I grow up, I wanna be Charles Widmore, breakin balls and shit.

Did you go on a boat race after that?
@@justmeok2 I’m not rich enough to afford a boat I’m afraid
Desmond shoulda grabbed the bottle and chugged it. How ya like them Granny Smiths widmore! 🖕🏻
Charles i love u
I don't know who was worse - Charles Widmore or Anthony Cooper.
Or Christian Shepard. Or Frank Gallagher or Mickey Donovan, for that matter.
anthony cooper for sure
Easy. Charles Widmore loved his child(ren) at least.
@@thomasbrown3356 Jack's father was nowhere near as bad as Lockes father.

We'll you just can't share a dram of MacCutcheon with just anyone.
0:40 here is some charity, aka a job.
E P I C
I know some men that deserve hearing that but not Desmond!
When a non-target applies to IB lmfao
0:15 lmfao
Such arrogance be Littles the less
Widmore is right. If you want a rich man’s daughter you better be a rich worthy man yourself. Just the way life is. Sorry
hohohohoo
