This is a normal go around when aircraft is in position. Some airports are too busy to have aircraft break off approach 3 miles out at 1500ft. Plus the go around proceedure is in place for these exact reasons, already programmed by pilots into the aircraft computer so its basically pushing a button to initiate. Kelsey over at 74gear just covered go around processes on one of his videos for anyone interested.

The SAN runway is different from most airport runways. Due to buildings surrounding runway 27, the Southwest plane is protected by a large clearance margin, the touchdown area is projected to be a lot further into the runway. Needless to say, jets pass by the parking structure while trying to land is dangerously close.
Dan Gryder from DTSB has been saying it for awhile now. This will continue to happen until ATC has the help and training they need. We’re playing with fire here and I pray it doesn’t take a terrible accident for this to get fixed. It’s happening way too much. Until then… God help us all. 🙏🏼
I was on the 09 end of KSAN that day and heard the jet going around as it was already in the clouds. The airport got real quiet after 5-10 minutes then planes started to depart.
This is normal go around in San Diego Southwest didn’t takeoff fast enough and the corporate jet close the gap from his touchdown point. Southwest gets their takeoff clearance canceled and corporate jet will try another pattern. San Diego International is one of the toughest airport in the world to land and takeoff and the air traffic controllers are some of the best so they are just doing their best to control flow of traffic

Is this San Diego? By chance?
RUclips cropping? That's hilariously bs.
Cameraman did as good of a job as the controller! 😅

Technically more like 200 feet; a 737-700 is 110' long and that's about 2 lengths.

Actually doesn’t make it look that close. Controller though totally blew it! Scary!
It wasn't that bad. It would be like landing at Oshkosh on the big dots.
500ft or more
Looks like more than 100’ to me, anyways, not a good situation

That was well over 100ft

Not a pilot, so will ask a very dumb question. Couldn’t a jet that small just touch down a bit ahead, completely avoiding southwest?
That's not 100 ft. That's like 250 or so. Maybe more.
Epic camera work.
That is definitely higher than 100 ft
Perfect visual too…
San Diego???
San Diego?

San Diego. I’m f I miss living there
