You guys are so great and so uplifting. I've been stuck mostly in bed for the past 10 weeks, with multiple back surgeries. To say you've brightened my day would be a gross understatement!
How can you tour? Your country is labeled an aggressor since it attacked Ukraine. I'm a fan, but you can't leave Russia currently because of this. Serge is Ukrainian and is fighting for his life right now. Please don't release any new music until the end of the war.

Do you grasp what is happening here? Leonid is a genius. He is a fabulous bass player, and a superb recording engineer. He wrote out all the charts for each musician(there are like 30 people performing), assembled this great cast of world class musicians who are crushing this song live in studio. He did all the video editing with flawless cut aways in synch with the music. Pay attention people, he created an entirely new way to enjoy these fabulous songs. You are engulfed by the performance. BRAVO.
And - he (and the whole band) are some of the kindest people I’ve ever been around, not to mention the most talented musicians I’ve ever shared a stage with. They’re humble, hard-working, and wonderful to be around.

@@positivelybobby I saw you sing at the Seminole casino Immokalee for Vasily on April 13, 2024. You did a hell of a job on short notice. As a former sax guy in a really good cover band 50 years ago, they are doing what I wanted to do, cover iconic tunes. Back then the songs were current not yet iconic.

As a musician of over 40 years, don’t disrespect their gift by calling them a cover band. They are totally locked in.

One of the things that makes L&F so unique is that there are about 30 musicians performing this song!!! Few bands worldwide ever assemble a group this large and diverse except for full orchestras! And I believe these are the best musicians in all of Russia! Bravo, Leonid! And may God give His safety and protection to Serge Tiagniryadno and the people of Ukraine 🇺🇦!
This kind of music can only be replicated properly with a full compliment of talented musicians. None of this midi and computer stuff, a bunch of highly talented people are needed to make this.

Dude has a fantastic range. Literally has that smooth Maurice white voice and then slips right into the EWF high range like he’s right off their record. Entire band is fantastic.

Amazing sound mix, killer arrangement, and absolutely impeccable musicianship. There's not a person in that room who isn't a world-class musician. But I want to single out that drummer. That dude is a machine! No matter what song you play, he's in a deep pocket. Igor is absolutely amazing.

Different Serge. The guitar-playing vocalist left the band last year.
If you're referring to the Serge who appeared in all the videos remotely from Kyiv, then please provide evidence.
@@ejb7969 The guitar-playing vocalist was Sergey Kashirin and he did indeed leave the band last year. As for Serge T., who is in Ukraine, he has on more than one occasion during his daily videos indicated that he is no longer a member of the band.
The more I watch this, and it's been about 15 times now, the more I enjoy the human part. The violinist swaying on first refrain, the timbale player smiling in the beginning, the conga player with sheer delight on his face, Leonid with big smile... singers with huge smiles, even drummer smiling. Man, ...I guess I can't think of any thing else that would bring me such joy than playing this positve, upbet song with a huge group of my fellow musicians, and humans.
Watching and listening from Cape Town, South Africa, wow,wow wow, unbelievable, I'm 72 years and I grew up with the music of EWF and Chicago, Carpenters etc, but you are without any doubt the greatest tribute band I have ever had the privilege and pleasure of listening to, I'm blown away, and your female vocalist has to be one of the world's most beautiful women,Ksenia, wow, thank you so much for the joy you bring through your music, peace and blessings.

When this song was first released the entire album 'I Am' sounded like one big production miracle. The best example of high level studio production - how different elements were mixed together, lot of material, many pro musicians involved. But ... can You find any video where EW&F did the song live like it sounds here played by russian group of musicians ... ? Never ever. EW&F had always too limited staff on stage to replicate the power and detail-rich sound of the original recording. We've heard different versions of this song with epic intro arranged for bigband, marchband, symphony orchestra or just band with synthesized string & brass section ... but never as it sounded originally on 'I Am'. Now it's done ... by group of russian musicians. And it sounds fantastic. Thank You Leonid & Friends - You're pointing out that music connects people all around the world.
An album that was perfect. Not a bad tune on it. EWF's best album.

Really, that is true BUT that SHOULD NOT be a slight to EWF. Why? Because you could say the same about all of Steely Dan stuff AND I love both. I have seen EWF in concert and still it remains perhaps my favorite live concert ever. It was at William and Mary College late seventies. I absolutely did not like the song "Boogie Wonderland" BUT did reconsider it after seeing them perform it live. BTW, as much as I like recording and live there are times when the live version surpasses the recorded one BUT very few times, IMHO.

I can't believe what I am hearing is damn good and fresh. I hear every instrument and the melodies are so rich and multi-layered. Volcals are clear and true to Maurice and Phillip Bailey's original. "Never you'll be alone. Forever my daring true love is written in the stone."

As much as i love our USA, Snarky Puppy….. These guys are a close second, or make that first!! It’s unbelievable not just the pure talent but whoever is in charge to mic 30 tracks and mix them perfectly deserves an award in his own right. The celebration of music in Humanity has no borders or boundaries… Its the pure love of music combined with the Human Spirit that is one of the greatest gifts God has given us as Humans. This is a direct result of what can be accomplished…. Sad to say, Putin has made the world absolutely hate and distrust Russia again. I honestly don't know if they can ever recover from this - at the minimum Putin has set Russia back another 40 years. I would be surprised if Leonid and Friends don't move to the west permanently before the iron curtain goes up again.
As long as science does not discover a means of transport to take us to the past, the only means will continue to be music, In the Stone - Leonid & Friends , is one of those songs that makes us travel in the time machine of good memories...

I absolutely LOVE that L&F has been moving beyond the Chicago songbook now into TOP and EWF. This cover, IMHO, is perfection! Daniel's vocal timbre and inflection capture Maurice's, and the vocal harmonies are a joy to listen to! T-I-I-I-I-I-ght horn section (as always), rhythm section is spot-on, the Latin percussion section added extra SPICE, the strings made it sound lush and classy, and everyone clearly was having the time of their lives playing this classic hit together in the studio. These days, we in the West need to see Russians like this.

Along with the incredible musicianship and performance, what strikes me is the joy they bring to just playing the music.
Almost each member of this band is given a chance to expose his or her talent thanks to video effects. The synergy between listening and watching is perfect. Keep on doing this. Well done.

Watching Leonid and Friends is a joyful, wonderful experience. The joy of them working and playing together just flows out of the screen as they perform. What a wonderful accomplishment they have all brought into being! Hard not to smile and feel happy watching them.

This band deserves wider recognition. I would also like to see them do some original material. I think they are one of the best cover bands out there, but now it is time to get to that next level and start doing some originals. They have the talent, the skills, and the musicality to do it. Cut Ksenia loose on some killer lyric, get the strings and horns backing her, and let it rip like they have never let it rip before. Then the world will see what this band is really capable of doing. My guess is that one song will make all of these covers look like amateur hour. This band has chops. Time to start doing their own thing.
