I would suggest checking out the video, one villainous scene - How ridley broke samus, by Jaymotions. It's really goes into detail on why they hate each other.
“Samus. That’s the only name you’ll hear. Samus. It means the end and the death. Samus. I am Samus. Samus is all around you…Look out! Samus is here.” (If you know, you know)
So the end of Metroid 2 or Samus Returns and its now called, Samus killed EVERY metroid on the planet except the hatchling, the game even has a counter to represent the total amount of metroids remaining until you hunt them all down and destroy them. So yes, Samus technically did solve the metroid crisis by committing genocide on them and then felt bad at the end realizing she in a way just did the same thing Ridley did to her, so since the hatchling imprinted on her because her battle suit is chozo made and she has partial chozo dna so she can use her suit, the hatchling thought she was chozo and imprinted on her, basically making her its master or mother.
@ChronoTriggerHappy now that Samus is part metroid, I find the idea of her becoming the leader of a metroid race (because of course there's clones of the baby out there somewhere) would be fascinating. Instead of killing metroids, she has to save and protect/lead them, because she can't trust anyone else to do it, and the X could always pop up again.
In the Manga Samus's father is the reason for the explosion that killed the pirates, he knew once they had everything they needed aka all the fuel they were gonna slaughter the population for fun so he suicided with a grenade while telling his wife to take Samus and run, Ridley was caught in the blast and got hurt severely so he started eating corpses and survivors to heal and one of the survivors was Samus's mom who he eat alive infront of her of course at the time he didn't realize she was her mother if he did he probably would have forced her to watch because he is that cruel because of this she both hates and fears Ridley

YEAH METROID! My favorite series. After your Kirby video I was hoping you'd look at Metroid lore. "Why is the series named Metroid it seems to insignificant when compared to the Space Pirates and Chozo." We'll get there when we get there!
@knuckles543 could've also been either Echoes or Fusion/Zero Mission via the Game Boy Player (something that came out during the GameCube era that could link below the GC and allows you to play Original Game Boy games as well as Game Boy Color and Game Boy Advance, lots of fun actually)
being fair, the guys involved in Other M and Fusion are straight up a splinter faction. That was supposed ot be pointed out in Fusion but that got excluded in localization, much like how Susie from Kirby got things left out regarding her changes.
I'd say a pretty big piece of the lore this video didn't mention is that the reason the Metroids are called as such because in the language of the Chozo, it means "Ultimate Warrior". With Dread allegedly being the end of the "saga" of Metroid-stories so far that have spawned from Metroid 1, it's pretty clear that from now on this title refers to Samus, and not just because she houses the last bits of Metroid DNA. Ironically, the Japanese script of Other M (and Fusion iirc) also "fixes" the open plot-threads about the corruption inside of the Galactic Federation, as appearently it's exactly the remnants of said corrupted faction that ran the research station in Other M that also controlled the research station in Fusion, which also seems to explain why Samus is still on good terms with the Federation despite destroying their research station, because her actions in both games revealed the corruption and allowed the Federation to purge them from within, through legal action. So... unless that faction went rogue and for example partnered up with the Space Pirates instead, they wouldn't return, if there was a new plot featuring the dark sides within the Galactic Federation, it'd have to be a NEW corrupted faction, which isn't impossible or unrealistic, but... I feel one plot of that kind is enough... Also on that note, it should be noted that according to the Japanese lore again, the term "Bounty Hunter" which describes Samus is actually a rank within the Galactic Federations armed forces, not what we'd think of as a bounty hunter, and basically describes individuals that function as one-man armies... like Samus.
@@johnj.spurgin7037 tbf, the original Japanese script doesn't fix everything that's wrong with Other M, the story just makes more sense in the greater narrative and especially in the context of Fusion. Also, ironically, I remember many people having problems with the voice direction? But ironically that might stem from a lack of localization since iirc the producer of the game who was with the series since the original was the voice director or at least gave major input on voice direction allegedly. So... a lot of the issues with the voice direction come down to a lack of understanding the different nuances between Japanese and English intonation.
There are IRL planets which have geosynchronous orbit with their sun, resulting in the planet being scorched on one side and freezing on the other. Basically an advanced civilization with their sh1t together would make it keep spinning faster then solar orbit or at least not do something to slow it to such a degree.
I know it's a long shot, but I would love to see Nux tackle the Guild Wars lore. The fall of Ascalon, the final sacrifice of the dwarves, all the way through the dragon cycle, its such a rich tapestry of well written world building.
Most of the Nintendo characters have extremely cruel or strange backstories. -Link has a cruel beginning as a hero in almost all of his games and the series as a whole starts with Link and Zelda being cursed to never have a peaceful life whenever they are reborn. -Mario and Luigi, seem to be stuck/simped into staying in another world which seems to always be messing with them, nonsensical and with a princess string Mario along. -Samus, well this video talked about it. -Donkey Kong: starts with king kong's story in a non sue-able version, then his son desperately trying to save the king kong stand in from Mario... or maybe mario's father. They finally escape back to Kong Island and then a few decades later Donkey Kong, the grandson of Cranky, potentially the legally distinct King Kong from a few of the things he says, has to deal with Crocodiles who for some reason stole their bananas... probably because their mentally ill leader wanted to fight the Kongs... Not a moment of peace for those poor Kongs! -Chrono Series: Chrono is literally the man born too soon/too late. He is born and raised, shows extreme promise for martial arts... in an era of peace. If anything he is lucky he has to travel through time. His mother is seemingly a single mother meanwhile his best friend is someone rich enough to live on a private island.... it's a weird series. Serge has a much more obviously tragic story in Radical Dreamers and later the Playstation (used to be exclusive) game Chrono Cross: where he was never supposed to exist, his father died when he was young and SPOILERS.... seriously can't say more! play it! -Final Fantasy series (used to be Nintendo exclusive): enough said. -Banjo & Kazooie : a kidnapping which will end in the life and beauty of Banjo's sister being stolen leads to a desperate rescue mission. -Kirby: Basically a lovecraftian horror who absorbes anything and takes on its abilities and personality.... -Conker (used to be Nintendo exclusive): gets drunk at a pub has the worst 2 days of his life including going to war, running on, fighting and swimming through poo and his GFs death, to become the king of nothing important. -Megaman (used to be Nintendo Exclusive): Robot with an advanced AI battles first a crazy scientist and his creations... later a virus created by that scientist which out lives him until post Megaman Zero series... the war is basically on and off for millennia, everyone the original Megaman knew eventually dies be they human (obviously first) or Reploid, Zero patient zero of the virus being both the longest to live and technically outliving Megaman. The war eventually results in a fusion of Humans and "Reploids" (super advanced Androids like Megaman) The "Carbons", not fully sure how they differ from humans but they are being managed like pets by a system the last human was running and when he tried to stop it with the newest copy of Megaman, a Carbon with the powers of the Megaman medal from Megaman ZX?... well the war started up again. Only ended by Capcom being horrible to the creator of the series, RIP Megaman!
Sylux being back for Prime 4 makes me wonder if some of the other hunters might also show up in future games, if memory serves (might not, have not played Prime Hunters in about 10 years or so) the race that Noxus belongs to, the Vhozon, were described as extremely law abiding, with Noxus basically being sent to make sure that whatever power the other hunters were after would not be misused. So someone like Noxus might actually turn up as a neutral third party at some future point in the series or maybe even an ''opponent turned ally'' for Samus.
Man. I know this is my second comment. But i am totally nerding out here. Hearing Nux learning about the lore, im so happy right now. This is now one of my all time favorite Nux vids. I wanna be able to like for a second time
I kinda love how Other M was the thing that really made him mad, as it did to us all The game as a game is fine, but it fucks with the lore and characters so much it breaks the world of Metroid Lucky for us we got Samus Returns, Dread and now Prime 4 afterwards to fix the issue

1:15:08 I think the deal with Kraid is kinda obvious? He survived Super Metroid. If Ridley can come back from the dead so many times, why can't Kraid cheat death at least twice? After Super Metroid, he continues leading the Space Pirates as a general, before eventually discovering ZDR, him landing there with his personal army of pirates is the thing the informs Raven Beak of the status of the outside world, Raven Beak knows about the extinction of the metroids, and Samus's current part metroid nature, because that is public knowledge that he interrogated out of Kraid.
Couple of lore drops missed: 1. "Metroid" is Chozo-speak for "Ultimate Warrior" (or "Ultimate Hunter" in some translations), as revealed in the official manga. Raven Beak telling Samus she is "becoming a Metroid" is both literal and metaphorical at that point in the story. 2. Raven Beak wanted to either get the last bit of Metroid DNA out of Samus, OR to force Samus to evolve into an ultimate Metroid form and THEN clone the resulting Samus-Metroid, giving him an army of Ultimate Warriors at his beckon call. Likely he was banking on his genetic connection to her giving him an advantage that may allow him to control her. 3. More from the official manga: the government faction responsible for the Metroid research going on at the BSL Laboratory above SR388 was not the entire Galactic Federation, but a shadowy sub-group within it plotting all kinds of things. The current President of the Galactic Federation has enlisted Samus to help root them out and put a stop to their plans. 4. When you look at all the genetic tampering the Chozo did to create the Metroids - and to re-engineer Samus Aran herself - it shouldn't come as much of a surprise that the Mawkins had samples of Kraid to clone him with.
Three things I'd like to point out. 1 samus is so dangerous the space pirates call her The Hunter. She's their boogeyman. For a similar character check out the Saint aka Saint-14 from destiny 2. 2 no one but her knows how her tech works. With her adoptive parents dead she is the only one who can produce chozo like tech. The space pirates tried to copy her armors ball form they ended up with a bunch of dead test subjects. 3. Mother brain was made to bring peace in the manga, and she decided to bring peace thru tyranny. She even tried to recruit samus. The babyetroid sacrificed itself to power up samus and heal her with mother brain blasting the baby in front of samus.
Metroid, the only Nintendo series lore that even comes close to Kirby with how apocalyptic and reality-shattering everything can get. Somehow, Mario is in a distant third as a result, only because Zelda never went into space.
Update: Something that he left out that Samus as a child thing to be friends with Ridley with Ridley's Space Pirates snickering on the wholesome moment and is about to kill Samus only for Samus's mom to take the hit from Ridley's fire breath dying in front of Samus and her father Rodney sneaking into the space pirate ship knowing the fuel is explosive and sacrificed himself to blow up the space pirate ship on K-2L. Seriously who do you think I got the inspiration for my name on RUclips? Most people imagine rule 34 stuff for Samus. I imagine Samus and I in a game reminiscent of Legolas and Gimili from Lord of the Rings of who can end the most Space Pirates.
@ShadowD.Joestar wouldn't that be more a cloning thing? We know it works and that ridley's species is a hyperpredator with possibly genetic memory components...
@canisrufuslupus3071 I mean, I live in fear of the search results now, but it probably helps that Samus now and metroids in general have always been life-vampires and depicted as horrifying.

He sincerely does _not_ do the events of the manga justice. If not by reading it itself, then please, get a better rundown on what the Metroid Manga provides to this franchise by watching "One Villainous Scene - How Ridley Broke Samus" by Jaymotions.
45:49 As a Floridian, my go to example for this is the love bugs in Florida: an invasive nuisance species that was apparently introduced to eat mosquito larvae, but ended up over reproducing and becoming a seasonal problem for driver’s windshields. And the mosquitoes are still a problem regardless.
That was never actually stated anywhere. Just a fan theory Metroids were made from the ground up with biotech to target and defeat the X. They were engineered from the start. Some things like Thoha being able to control them and identifying Mawkin as enemies, aswell their weakness to ice were coded into them, so they cannot be abused as bioweapons by other Chozo What we do know is that the reason most of SR388 wasn’t overrun by the X once the Thoha arrived to study Aeion Is because the X were imprisoned (or rather evolved) in a sealed off area of SR388 deep deep below the surface. Area 4 (the crystal caves) and Area 6 (ecological dead zone) is seemingly where they have evolved indicate that the X have been busy in their time, down there The Chozo during their Aeion excavation dig up the X accidentally It is likely that they did use some bacteria or dna from other creatures to make the Metroids However the X evolved in an ecological deadzone, where all creatures developed mimicry to hide from the X (some looking like crystals, others like rocks) not to be detected by X, still the massi e skeletons in Area 6 more than
My theory is that Metroids are actually made out of modified X Parasite DNA. It would explain the Metroid's immunity (X can't outright infect other X, only do a weird merging thing), and then there's some weird similarities like how Metroids can get abilities by absorbing their pray like the X can (seen both with Samus absorbing core X parasites, and when the Baby Metroid steals the hyper beam from Mother Brain and gives it to Samus), and how both Metroids and X love mutating.

The X only have 2 games, but that's soon to change in Metroid 6 hopefully. As is Raven Beak hopefully. He's too cool for a single game, even if he rocked that game.
@MariuigiKhed I'd say the X were ABSOLUTELY the main villains of Metroid Fusion. Even at the end with the Federation twist, Samus' real worry wasn't that the Federation would successfully weaponize the SA-X, it was that they'd get their asses kicked and the X would use the ships they arrived on to spread. And while the SA-X did help fight the Omega Metroid, most everyone agrees that the SA-X just wanted to kill it because Metroids are a threat to the X species, and since Samus was only a small part Metroid at the time, the SA-X found the Omega to be the larger threat so it attacked that first. No way the X would ever actually help Samus intentionally.

23:42 not only that, but she reformed in OUR dimension from a parallel one as it was imploding
1:13:10 in zero mission, you only blow up the mother brain labs & space pirate ship. You blow up the whole planet in super metroid
Samus Aran is best Bounty Hunter
@@johnj.spurgin7037 That would be so much fun, I loved having the baby metroid around at the end of Samus Returns.
12:36 and the prime 1 remaster is fabulous. A solid 10 / 10. Highly recommend. Play asap!
5:12 yes, ridley, the hyper intelligent space dragon

Samus Aran and Tifa Lockhart, my first childhood crushes, god were the Prime games super fun, I really cant wait to blast some space pirates in Prime 4.
The Prime games were excellent! I still remember being DEAD WRONG about a Metroid FPS. It was such an experience. How long did I spend watching water and light effects on my visor? 😂
Great time for a Metroid lore recap as Metroid Prime 4 was just revealed a new trailer after YEARS without news.

Nux you are getting the order wrong. 14:46, the infertility issues started while they were in their warrior society. The hope was by living in balance they could resolve it. And if they fail, they could leave positive legacy as a specie
YEAH METROID! My favorite series. After your Kirby video I was hoping you'd look at Metroid lore.
"Why is the series named Metroid it seems to insignificant when compared to the Space Pirates and Chozo." We'll get there when we get there!
Yeah I’m very excited too
Samus altered my brain chemistry when i first played metroid on the GameCube
ahhh, prime 1
@knuckles543 could've also been either Echoes or Fusion/Zero Mission via the Game Boy Player (something that came out during the GameCube era that could link below the GC and allows you to play Original Game Boy games as well as Game Boy Color and Game Boy Advance, lots of fun actually)
There’s a reason SomeCallMeJohnny says ‘Fuck the Galactic Federation’
being fair, the guys involved in Other M and Fusion are straight up a splinter faction.
That was supposed ot be pointed out in Fusion but that got excluded in localization, much like how Susie from Kirby got things left out regarding her changes.
I feel like Nux is revealing some...complicated feelings towards metroids and their succ-ing ability in this video.
Also on that note, it should be noted that according to the Japanese lore again, the term "Bounty Hunter" which describes Samus is actually a rank within the Galactic Federations armed forces, not what we'd think of as a bounty hunter, and basically describes individuals that function as one-man armies... like Samus.
@Justic_ get this man more upvotes!
Thx for the clarification. The plot holes being the fault of localization explains so much.
Metroid was originally short for "Metro Android." The pre-release plot of NES Metroid was WAY different.
-Megaman (used to be Nintendo Exclusive):
Robot with an advanced AI battles first a crazy scientist and his creations... later a virus created by that scientist which out lives him until post Megaman Zero series... the war is basically on and off for millennia, everyone the original Megaman knew eventually dies be they human (obviously first) or Reploid, Zero patient zero of the virus being both the longest to live and technically outliving Megaman.
Megaman's story ends with something out of universe
39:57 My possible headcanons for Sylux is that is etiher A. Undercover Space Pirate, B. A.I. Himself , C. Time Traveler
I wanna be able to like for a second time
I kinda love how Other M was the thing that really made him mad, as it did to us all
The game as a game is fine, but it fucks with the lore and characters so much it breaks the world of Metroid
Lucky for us we got Samus Returns, Dread and now Prime 4 afterwards to fix the issue
It is confirmed, Mohg has beaten the allegations. It wasn't him, our bad.

Officially my favorite Nux video now 😎
Probably until the next metroid lore dive.
Couple of lore drops missed:
Galfed managed to figure some of the Chozo tech out, as we see when they build upgrades for you in Fusion.
RPG Monger does a great job with Lore Videos
Ngl I’ve been Loving the nux lore deep dives. MORE LORE!!
Metroid is one of my favorites, thanks for covering it!!!

Nintendo turned Samus into a space succubus. Surprised Nuxanor reacted so calmly.
@canisrufuslupus3071 I mean, I live in fear of the search results now, but it probably helps that Samus now and metroids in general have always been life-vampires and depicted as horrifying.

45:35 small note here. It's believed that the chozo took the original metroids, which hunted the x already, and dialed them up to 11
That was never actually stated anywhere. Just a fan theory
Metroids were made from the ground up with biotech to target and defeat the X. They were engineered from the start. Some things like Thoha being able to control them and identifying Mawkin as enemies, aswell their weakness to ice were coded into them, so they cannot be abused as bioweapons by other Chozo
What we do know is that the reason most of SR388 wasn’t overrun by the X once the Thoha arrived to study Aeion
Is because the X were imprisoned (or rather evolved) in a sealed off area of SR388 deep deep below the surface. Area 4 (the crystal caves) and Area 6 (ecological dead zone) is seemingly where they have evolved indicate that the X have been busy in their time, down there
The Chozo during their Aeion excavation dig up the X accidentally
It is likely that they did use some bacteria or dna from other creatures to make the Metroids
However the X evolved in an ecological deadzone, where all creatures developed mimicry to hide from the X (some looking like crystals, others like rocks) not to be detected by X, still the massi e skeletons in Area 6 more than
My theory is that Metroids are actually made out of modified X Parasite DNA. It would explain the Metroid's immunity (X can't outright infect other X, only do a weird merging thing), and then there's some weird similarities like how Metroids can get abilities by absorbing their pray like the X can (seen both with Samus absorbing core X parasites, and when the Baby Metroid steals the hyper beam from Mother Brain and gives it to Samus), and how both Metroids and X love mutating.
reading all of the logs in metroid prime has a lot of deep lore on the various civilzations it's super tragic.

@@calvinbrinenestoris2357 X aren't major main villains and in the end did helped Samus deal with the Omega Metroid and leaving the planet
