For me what’s more interesting is in Ultimate Night Puppet will explain the dynamic between it and the other animatronics “the others are like animals, but I’m very aware” the spirits in the other suits are conscious but aren’t really aware of what’s happening, it mostly emotion and instinct. Charlie has full awareness of what’s happened and what’s happening. Even Circus Baby acts less like a child and more like a robot despite having full range of thought, sometimes Circus Baby talks as if they’re the animatronic itself and not Elisabeth, Henry even doubts she remembers her own name. In a twisted form of necromancy the souls have lost all sense of self and being life to machines not fully grasping what they even are, while holding the ability to act and think.

The way I see it, FNAF got popular because of two things: the sacres, and laughing at people getting scared, that’s what drew people to it (as well as Mark, Jack, and Pewdiepie). Second: the mystery of the lore. Piercing together the story of the franchise into a timeline was a community event, for all fans to cooperate to figure out. It’s what knit the community so tightly together, and solving it has taken ten years now! Even now, fans still theorize on the latest releases.

@sunthorn4782 No, it's really not. The only part that could be considered fan fiction was the inclusion of Misses Afton as CEO of the SB Fazbear Entertainment, but... Someone has to be, and there are context clues that point to her. The rest of the timeline was pieced together with information from the games and books. A lot of the stuff you consider fanfiction came from "The Silver Eyes."

      @SpacePirateLord 7 месяцев назад +121

@sunthorn4782 Different books have different canonicity. Each one however has clearly repeated themes. Mat is using themes from those books to fill in the blanks. I don't see the problem with that honestly. Just as Wendigoon points out, Mat has uncovered so much lore over the years. It's best to trust his judgment on things, until we get information that directly contradicts it. So far not much contradicts his timeline honestly. Even the reveals in Ruin don't necessarily mess anything in those videos up. A lot of people think the Mimic was Burntrap, but I really doubt that. The Mimic was trapped in a walled off area way further in, seemingly connected to Circus Baby's. I doubt very much he was Glitchtrap or Burntrap. To me, he just seems to be an attempt by Scott to create a new villain going forwards since people complained about Afton in SB.
Either way Wendigoon is making stuff up on theorizing as well, sooo.... What does it matter? One HAS to do so when info is missing. While I respect Wendigoon, I heartily disagree with his assertion that Elizabeth died before Charlie. I feel like it's more accurate, and makes more sense, to say Afton created Circus Baby after his first real kill.

As someone who watched a lot of matpat lore videos when they came out, a big reason why there is so many is because each new game brought so much new stuff to the table.
But I don't think people realise how fast new stuff came out back then. Between 2014-2015 we had FNaF 1-4, The first novel and the announcement of the FNaF Movie. Not to mention countless teaser images to analyse. By the time you have one theory new info can debunk that again.
What I also like is how Matpat's videos are basically an archive of the fnaf theory history. They show you what info we had, what most of the community believed back then, how we got a lot of the info, etc. I always recommend them to people who have the time to watch them in order. Not because they're correct or crucial, but because I personally think it's important to know how we got here (while having around 10 years of lore spread out instead of shoved at you in a few hours).

Also, there are distinctly different styles in the differing animatronics and it is theorized (and possibly confirmed?) That Henry Emily prior to being a business partner was involved in if not manager of a rival chain headlined by Chica. While Matpat's ultimate timeline was apparently wrong in the final episode covering security breach, his first three episodes covering the vast majority of the FNAF timeline is SPOT ON.

Yup, the first child was evan, but that didn't necessarily start william's mad scientist journey.
The design of freddy is VARY similar to henry's animatronics, so it's probably henry's animatronic, and THAT'S why william killed charlie, because he blames henry for his son's death.
Then he LIKED killing, so he probably went on the murdering spree, and made an animatronics SPECIFICALLY to kill children, but then killed his OWN daughter by mistake, in which he noticed that baby got possessed by elizabeth, and that's what started his obsession with immortality.

Nux asked for someone to explain how FNAF got popular, so here we go:
FNAF was released at a very opportune time. It was released at a time where youtube's horror let's plays were popular, but also at a time when there wasn't many other titles coming out that they could react to, so a few let's-players, most notably Markiplier, decided to try out this small unknown indie game, hoping to make a quick video out of it to give their viewers something to watch until the next big game would come out.
One thing you need to understand in order to know why FNAF became popular, is what most horror games were like during this era. Most horror games at the time, were practically action games with scary backdrops (like Silent hill or Resident Evil). The only other common type of horror games were the slenderman rip-offs.
What all these games held in common, is that they involve running and/or fighting against the monster.
FNAF was different. When the let's-players opened up this game, they found themselves trapped in a room, unable to move. Their only method of survival was a door running on AA batteries. This stark contrast between being able to run around in open spaces in most other games, to only being allowed to look left or right, was much different from any other horror game at the time.
Within the horror game community, FNAf had spread rapidly. It was easy to make a video out of, and many viewers loved going to new channels to watch other peoples' reactions, which allowed smaller channels to grow.
Another thing of note for this period of FNAF's legacy, is how Matpat made a theory about it. Matpat, while at the time a relatively small channel, still had a dedicated audience. This was during a time when his videos were mostly about poking fun at scientific inaccuracies in videogames. Or making fun an unserious theories about games, like: 'Mario is a psychopath' and 'which game character has the biggest breasts'. Matpat had at the end of one of his videos, decided to do a poll for his viewers to decide the topic of the next video: FNAF, or one of the Slenderman games. The FNAF video was Matpat's first theory that really delved into the hidden lore of a game, and this video led to a large growth in fans for both MatPat and FNAF.
Although FNAF had become popular, it was a short experience. Most games like this get played once, and never get talked about again. And that might've been the case for FNAF if not for the fact that its style of game was pretty low-effort to make. Within a short period of time, Scott Cawthon had released a new sequel/prequel. Most let's-players came back to play it again, and Matpat's community began to o ver analyze the game to discover the lore.
It was also around this time period that Scott released the third game, and a number of solo indie devs began to make fangames of FNAF.
During this time, fan games weren't too uncommon, but many times the developers who made them had to worry about legal issues if the company who made the game wanted to have it taken down. But Scott Cawthon, who was an indie dev himself, actively supported the creation of these fan games. So a lot of rookie developers who wanted to try their hand at making games did so under FNAF's banner.
That was (in my opinion) the most important factor in the spread of FNAF's popularity.
Not only did a large number of good games come out that copied FNAF, but most of them actively advertised the original FNAF franchise through their own promotion. Another affect from this openness to fan creations, is that many people in the community who saw this new wave of fangames went out of their way to make something creative themselves, whether it be a fangame, fanart, or more recently FNAF-inspired analog horror series. This formed a thriving community of artists, developers, and creatives, who all actively supported each other.
But since the gameplay loop of FNAF started to get boring and overdone, more innovations in the main series came out.
First was FNAF World. It was a huge failure, a game that few enjoyed. But because Scott Cawthon took money out his own account and returned the full amount used to purchase the game to anyone who requested a refund, made the game completely free, and continuously updated it, this failure ended up increasing Scott's reputation as a benevolent developer.
Then Scott made Sister Location. It combined the classic feeling of FNAF with elements from point & click style games, which many FNAF fans were fond of. It also added a lot of features, and was generally well received. With that game established, FNAF had truly earned a place among popular games.
It has a diverse community, with a wide range of varying interests, of fans who were (and still are) willing to study this game's lore more closely than a college course, just to speculate about what direction the story will go in next.
Well at least that's how it begun gaining popularity from my perspective. I'm certain there are a lot of other factors at play, but these are the ones I know of.
(Edit: I had originally believed that matpat's poll that got him to make his first FNAF video was between FNAF and real-life applications of dating simulators. But I have come to find out that I was incorrect, it was actually between FNAF and Slenderman for a Halloween episode. While the Dating Simulator video was from a different poll. And thus I have corrected it.)

I think the only part of this that is kind of wrong is the bits about WHO built WHICH robots, because the books tell us that when the business first started HENRY was the guy who built robots and WILLIAM was the guy who handled the actual BUSINESS side of things. Eventually William began to ALSO take an interest in robotics and began to make his OWN robotics company but Henry was the one who made the initial few rounds of animatronics. Other than that this is a pretty reasonable and well thought out interpretation of the timeline.

    • @ultrastormvalentine5483
      @ultrastormvalentine5483 7 месяцев назад +14

There were several points wrong with this timeline, there's even lines in the game that disproves most of what wendigoon said.
Susie/chika being the first child killed was shown with her line in custom nights saying the she was the first and she knows everything or saw everything.
He didn't put the children's bodies in the animatronics before the 5 children.
There had to have been more then five children killed if you also consider the newer animatronics from the fnaf series, that should take more souls then just five.
It's extremely debatable on who was the first to die between Elizabeth and Evan, but it would make more sense for it to be Elizabeth considering the fact that she's already gone by the time we get the free time to move around as Evan, with her room being empty and her being gone the entire game. It also makes sense for why William would want to monitor his children and make them afraid of the animatronics.
Just watch matpat he knows what he's doing when it comes to fnaf lore.

Well as Help Wanted 2 directly shows us order of the Missing Children (including putting Charlie/Puppet as the last victim of that event). It's really unsure who did what and who is actually at fault in the earlier deaths.
For example both books and the games (with original models) kinda imply that Circus Baby was originally a Henry creation. So there is a chance that either she was a mistake made by Willam who stole Henry's animatronic that lead to Elizabeth's demise. Or William was already kinda off the wall and he did plan to discredit Henry or just straight up unlive some kids - by altering Baby enough to make her a killing machine.
Which could also be a revenge for Afton Jr. getting chomped by Fredbear and Henry escaping with no consequences. If, we assume he was first. There is a chance that Elizabeth died when he was in hospital or before that - as a reason to why we don't see her in the room. But she could have also easily died second - but just being away from home with her own mother or William.
But then on the other hand Baby happening first would explain why William was so controlling of his children.
Help Wanted 2 and the correct order also kinda could explain why Charlie was attacked - it could have been a revenge to Henry after years of mistreatment and potential pushing him as the main suspect for Missing Children Incident. He tried to learn how he did Elizabeth to revive his son as well. So he kidnapped the five - which then let to him being put in jail. Then Henry locked him out, added all the security animatronics and tried to make sure it wouldn't happen again - which infuriated William. Who after his usual Midnight drives to home during rain, found Charlie outside and decided for that to be the best occasion to get some revenge.

The suspected reason that Cassidy was called "The one you should not have killed" is because Afton killed Cassidy purely because he felt like it rather than for research, and did so much more brutally than the others, all out of an unusual burst of selfish murderous desire. Cassidy's death was the most cold-hearted, ruthless, and demonic Afton got in his murders, causing Cassidy's spirit to become much more vengeful and enraged than the other kids. When all the animatronics burned, it's implied Cassidy lived on and went to combine with Afton, keeping him alive yet longer so he could torture him from the inside, even if it meant Afton would get away with more evil.
This is also why Golden Freddy was so twitchy. It wasn't because two kids were trapped inside, but also because Evan and Cassidy had clashing desires for how to approach their goals.

Wendigoon and Nux gave some pretty valid criticisms of Henry’s actions (or rather his inaction) and faults in this, that I’ve never previously thought about. I want to believe he was completely ignorant and unaware of William’s crimes against humanity with the animatronics, but there’s no way someone like him who was in charge of the financial and marketing ends of the company didn’t know about the features William specifically chose to include in the animatronics, and the subsequent costs to include them. I get how he probably fell into a never-ending depression after Charlie’s death, but to never suspect William for it after the death of “Evan” is just too perfect. He had to have known his former business partner was directly responsible, as well as his own negligence for that matter.
But of course, his speech in the end of FNAF6 is haunting. The resignation in his voice, is that of a man who just wants to close his eyes, and never have to open them again. The indifference of him asking Elizabeth is she even recalls her original name because of HOW LONG she’s been trapped in Circus Baby (now Scrap Baby), and the fact that he stays in his office making that call as the temperature reaches 180 degrees from the fire…He should be SCREAMING in agony from the heat, but that’s probably just how dead inside he feels by now, how resigned he is to his fate. He’d rather stay in there and burn alive, because how many moments of fatherhood did he lose out on experiencing, when Charlie probably died before she was 10? And the timeline suggests it’s been at least 30 years. He’d be well into the autumn or winter of his life, between his mid 60s~early 80s…it’s just so sad.😢

A couple things. First, it's more likely that the Missing Children's incident was a few months before FNaF 2. Phone guy says "Welcome to your new SUMMER job..." but the paycheck at the end of the game says November. The tapes are old, Fazbear entertainment reused them because they're lazy.
Also, Henry likely didn't know William got back into the Pizzeria because the Fazbear brand was likely big enough to where Henry isn't the one hiring people. William also likely used a fake name, possibly "Dave Miller" as seen in the books. William was hired because the one hiring wasn't Henry and didn't recognize him, William was able to use the suit and kill the kids, and was possibly caught wearing the suit and tampering with the animatronics, but not caught with the bodies, so he was likely fired again for that, and that's why phone guy mentions 'previous employees' shouldn't be let in. He thinks that 'none of them are acting right' because William simply tampered with them.

When it comes to the FNAF Lore Story I cannot help but think of how it could be made into a TV show
I honestly get a Breaking Bad vibe of progression when it comes to William and how it also falls down into how a man lost himself in what was seemingly “innocent” intentions
Wendigoon really gave the best time line I’ve seen if it and it really makes this story so deep and compelling, like this is some good sht

    • @xd3athclawx554
      @xd3athclawx554 7 месяцев назад +7

The problem is that Wendigoon's timeline has parts that are just wrong. Like the fact that henry was the first to make the animatronics, William later earned a degree in engineering to start building them (there is no way someone makes the puppet after like a day of learning).
He misses out HAPPIEST DAY, one of the most important parts of the story.
Also William does kill 10 children, the Missing children's incident is the 5 kids that William killed in 1985, in the first Freddy's restaurant. They went on to possess the original animatronics, then the Funtimes. They're the kids from Give Gifts Give Life and Foxy GoGoGo minigames. And also completely misses out the dead children's incident another 5 kids that William killed in 1987, shortly prior to FNAF2. They possessed the Toys, and are seen in SAVETHEM minigame. Nux was right about how the toys having security facial recognition being weird as the excuse, because it wasn't, that was only for the day to stop actual predators getting close to the kids, whereas the reason they attack you is because they are haunted. When they get scrapped, to my knowledge, they are burnt and as such their souls are freed unknowingly.
Also the reason he kills kids in the restaurants is to try and get the business that he was kicked out of shutdown.
If you wanna see the "proper" timeline, I would suggest MatPat's ultimate timeline, because he not only goes over facts and where they came from, and goes really in-depth with them. He also talks about the books ALOT more, as they are an integral part of the story. Mat also takes the opinion of alot of people as its not just him who works on the videos.
I personally would say it is a more correct timeline, and just talks more about the games and the books.

@@xd3athclawx554 Great Points, and I have seen his timeline as well

This is one way to interprate the lore of FNAF, but it is SOOOO MUCH MORE
    He also made some mistakes.
First and for most, Henry was the creator, builder and engineer of animatronics and robotics while William was the one who came up with the idea of Fredbear; and the concepts of Pizzaeria with singing, magic and all that.
Eventually William have gone through engineering degree and developed alongside Henry new designs for the animatronics - he also have also developed sound illusion disks that can completely change your percpection of the animatronics - which is likely the source of the Nightmarish animatronics from FNAF 4.
And there are SO MUCH MORE to explain, I know you don't like matpat's content but you have to watch his video and timeline because it has so much more because of the books (which while don't share the same timeline they hold the same world mechenics and hold importent details)
I know that the fnaf fanbase is pretty childiah and cringe, but it still has intense (and somewhat disturbing lore and theories)
58:50 There is a small problem though, first and for most, the missing children incident needed to occour in the first location the reason for it is simple - there were literral mini games supporting that claim and considering that in FNAF 2 the old animatronics (and the toys likely as well) are hunte
And as for the reason why William wasn't reported... well thing is - he was... but the police couldn't arrest him, think about it - from all im-game points of view the children went missing their death was never confirmed mranimg that even if the police try to arrest him, all his alegations would be considered as circumstantial evidences at best...
Scott actually covered it in the book.
Anyway I REALLY REALLY recommand watching Matpat's video because the timeline is very complicated and it is better covered by Matpat and he brings evidences from the series to support his claims
1:28:20 ohhh... I can forgive most mistake but I can't forgive this ome...
In a mini game in FMAF 2 you play as Old/Withered Freddy, and you find in the FNAF 2 location, the toys animatronics and 5 additional murdrered children dead bodies. you're already hunted and that is 100% confirmable because the give gift give life mini game shows all animatronics as fixed, and Foxy Go Go Go minigame confirms that 5 children have died in the old location.
The toy animatronics that were getting scrapped are likely to get burned (which is what allows them to move on)

I recommend the french youtuber Captain Hype,
while his channel is currently on hiatus his fnaf serie of videoes is very good. It goes from fnaf 1 to fnaf world and basicly he explores the mystery as it evolves.
For instance when scott made fnaf 1 he didn't even thought of fnaf 2 he stated it multiple times, and therefore in his video of fnaf 1 he treat the game as if it was the only one ever released, because everytime Scott Cawton (the creator of the series)makes a new entry he changes slightly the mystery.

33:13 Exactly. Why would he do that. This is why a majority of the fandom thinks Afton was nefarious from the get-go and doing this crap under Henry's nose. The latest fnaf game, help wanted 2, [Spoilers] gave us the gravestones of the children in the order they were killed. Scott has placed Fredbear/golden Freddy (If theyre even the same suit. Design wise, it doesnt seem like they are) as the 5th animatronic to be possessed or killed. Its also been canonically proven that there are two souls in Golden Freddy. Evan shares the animatornic with the angriest most recentful and malicious of the children, Cassidy. We have no idea where Cassidy died on the timeline, who they were, or HOW they died, but Cassidy is the spirit that literally drags William down to hell (Custom Night), and haunts the shit out of Afton who literally screams for Michael to help him in demonic garble. Its GLORIOUS.
FYI its also up for debate if there has to be a body in the animatornic to haunt it. Charlotte's body, as far as we know, isnt in the puppet. At least, not all of her could fit in it, which is a morbid thought, but the puppet is too slender to host an entire body, child or not. Its also heavily speculated but not confirmed that Michael's spirit might currently be semi dormant in glamrock Freddy, who DEFINETLY doesnt have a body in him.
Alot of people find this annoying, but ngl i love the ever changing lore and plots and constant revivals. It makes thd franchise more mystery/puzzles than horror and I think the franchise is so much fun. Scott is doing great with it.

The books explain that possession is possible through: Soul getting stuck to an object, Remnant soup made from an aforementioned possessed object being melted down and injected into things(like with the scooper), and lastly strong emotions can also cause possession or possess things themselves.

The hard thing about FNAF Nux is that whenever something new comes out, a lot of things in the story change. If we are going to make a complete timeline of everything in history right now, we have to consider the games: FNAFs 1, 2, 3, 4, Sister Location, Pizzeria Simulator, Ultimate Custom Night, Help Wanted, Security Breach, Security Breach Ruin, Help Wanted 2 and the emails form Special Delivery; and the entire Tales From The Pizza Plex book franchise. Not to mention the other contents that are more complicated, as they are parallel stories that bring concepts to the main story, these being the Frazbear Frights book franchise, a novel composed of three books/graphic novels: The Silver Eyes, The Twisted Ones and The Fourth Closet; and the triology of films we're getting now.
NOTE: the films will also have a book adaptation.

1:56:25 Here’s a time stamp for Henry’s speech at the end of fnaf 6
The talk about Williams personal hell made me want to see what Nux would think about playing *Ultrakill,* (hopefully without any chat for him to look at and likely tell him how to play instead of letting him figure it out.)
I do hope he reacts to or watches the VHS tape stuff by *Squimpus McGrumpus.*
Most importantly the last ones called *"Memories"* and *"Finale"* mainly because of the absolutely amazing voice acting by *@theniftytable*

1:34:41 And this is important because "Evan", or as everyone calls him, "the crying child", was terrified of these suits. Which is why when Micheal put him near the mouth of the Fredbear suit, that since he was crying, the suit malfunctioned, and caused the bite of '83. So take that Chekov's gun, apply it to William Afton, terrified, sweating, and wore the suit, the moisture he produced, caused the springlocks to malfunction, causing him to die in agony, which'll become important later.

Also the suit was roting in a abandoned building with rain from holes in the roof

Freddy crushing Evan's skull is definitely plausible, due to Freddy's teeth focusing all the needed force directly into Evan's temple, and crushing the frontal lobe which was the part of the brain that was said to be destroyed in the first place

Sadely, I think Wendigoon doesn't explain a lot of the pieces to the story nearly as well as they could be explained, such as with remnant and that perfectly explaining how Michael's still "alive"

32:46 The only issue with him moving staight to the funtime anamatronics after Evan's death is that I think he forgot that William already killed other kids before the next set of experiments and put them in the orginal core animatronics called the missing children's incident. There was even a cut scene that shows him pulling up to kids in front of the pizzaria and kidnapping them ending with Charlie I think then moving onto the funtime anamtronics when he started researching more about how to transfer life and Remnant metal.

Hes wrong on why the child was scared of the characters. William had a device that was hypnotic turning the friendly robots into monsters and he was testing it on his own son.

If you take the books into consideration Henry didnt show up for half the timeline bcs he was busy recreating his daughter in basically an animatronic/android

Nux, you need to look at the newer 9 hour video that came out a week before the FNAF movie came to theaters. It has the lore ironed out directly in a clear and precise way. (I kid that you need to watch it but it truly does exist and i thought it was pretty good)

I do actually recommend at least watching like the first few game theories on fnaf cause it’s so interesting to see how different the theories were and how they evolved cause he was making them after each installment and getting more evidence
Tho one of my pet peeves is that people will get mad at matpat saying that a later theory contradicts the others but seem to forget that each video is its own individual theory unless specified otherwise
Like they aren’t meant to connect
They’re meant to show you how the theories evolve and become more complex over the years which is so fun

There's only two big things i firmly disagree with him on:
    1) Jr's is *obviously* a bar. William is drunk driving. "Jr's" is a generic name for a bar in basically any American story involving a generic bar, and William is slumped over, driving erratically, and has a short fuse. He's drunk. He's not allowed at the bar next to his house because they know he's got a drinking problem. (Probably as a result of Ethan and Elizabeth being recently dead).
    2) The spirit torturing William is Cassidy. Ethan's story is the Happiest Day story, which he just never addressed in any of its multiple depictions. Which i kinda get, but totally skipping both that and Shadow Freddy/ Shadow Bonnie feels wrong. Even if they are way way harder ro explain.

32:30 this... lore is so wrong 😭😭 I hope he revisits this and finds one that more accurate. There's one channel that made a 9 hour video on the lore, and then edited it down (takes out all the explanations) to about 1.5 hours. I recommend you watch that one instead.
