Used to live in Orlando for 30+years and a couple of times visited the Elvis museum on International drive
From what I remember the museum was next to a Walgreens and maybe a KFC across the street from Wet-n-Wild
And I believe for a short time the Lockheed Jetstar plane may have been on display in front of the museum before going to the permanent Graceland location.
On one visit with my mother Elvis's Aunt was there as a guest speaker.
I have also been to the Elvis museum that used to be at Old Town.
The hotel that you showed in the video used to be nicknamed the HIGH Q!
Back in FEB 1977 Elvis performed in Orlando at the Eddie Graham Orlando sports stadium which was once located off of Econ trail
This small stadium has since been torn down
Homes are there now where the road snakes around the once location.
It always amazed me that Elvis performed in that tiny building.
Also if it's worth mentioning I once had a coworker that told me he use to work at a hotel off of John Young Parkway and west Colonial drive just down the street from the Greyhound bus station there in Orlando what is now a very low income apartments.
While this coworker was working the front desk back in 1977 Elvis and his bodyguards stayed at that hotel for the Orlando show!
He told me he was not a fan but said hello to Elvis when they entered the building and that Elvis said hi back!

Wonder if Elvis thought about someday turning Graceland into a museum before he died...could he imagine it turning into a big tourist attraction? Thanks for remembering Elvis's birthday!!

I visited Tupelo in the early 80’s. Sad to say, I can’t remember if we were permitted to go inside the house where Elvis was born. So much has changed since then. We also went to Memphis and I believe we were only permitted to go up to the graves then a few years later were able to tour thru Graceland. Haven’t been back since the early 80’s - I see so much has changed at Graceland and Tupelo also. Thank you for the up-to-date info. Very interesting. ❣️

Before your time, but Elvis played the Jackson Coliseum in 1975 and I think he raised over $100K (about $600K today) for tornado victims. One of my classmates brought a recording of the show to class and we got to listen to it.

Thanks for sharing this video Micah, My Mom is passed away, but she lived in Orlando and saw Elvis perform in 1956 and 1977 (i think she went to Jacksonville in 77) . I wished i could have been with you that day to respond to comments about Bob Carr Theater (Municipal Auditorium) but also confitm I-4 did not exist during that concert. 😉
I worked at Old Town in 1989 and my Mom and frequented Little Darlins in the early 90's. I'm sure somewhere I some photos from the Elvis museum there, but I do not have pics from the one that opened off of I-Drive area. That opened in 1990, I think the memorobilia from Old Town transfered there (?) eventually closed in 2000's and items relocated to Vegas

Y'all mentioned Tarentino - He played one of the Elvis impersonators on The Golden Girls. You are so close to America's TV Elvis Pete Wilcox who was not only the Elvis voice when Fonzie hit the jukebox on Happy Days but actually played many Elvis like tributes in the 70's and 80's. He lives near Ocala i believe. I got to meet him in Memphis during Elvis Week last year. You both should make a trip to Elvis Week. They offer lots of way to spend money but you meet lots of fans with lots of stories from around the world. We just spend our time at what was once the Tent but now in a building hidden in the back but they have people singing Elvis sets all week. Such a wide variety of styles, ages and from karaoke to professionals. No jumpsuits allowed but good music and it is like a family reunion. Also the Candlelight Vigil is a must if you do nothing else.

Elvis couldn't have looked at I-4 because construction on it didn't begin until 1958. Crazy to think that he probably came down 27 or other roads to Orlando.
