Today I was leaving the house to work without my phone, because I did not even look at it since I woke up this morning, and I made my bed, meditated, prayed and got ready without it! That is a triumph for me.

Being a night worker, empty nester and grieving all the losses over the last 10 years I've experienced (of people and things), it's twice as hard for me to be there for myself. Sometimes I walk around like a zombie . But, I'm proud of myself. I started an exercise power walk routine for myself and I'm keeping to it . I feel so much better and I'm getting the all important vit D. I must do 3 things for myself on work days, and about 4-5 on a day off. Slowly, I'm getting things done, that I put off (due to negative emotions). Sometimes I flake(a little), but I'm learning to do that less often. I always get up, despite a day/night of not sleeping well (the hardest).
And your toughness is wonderful to hear because sometimes I get weak. I'm not a weak person, but I have often let myself down these past years, lying to myself --subsequently I've put myself down .That is never good.. I would never do that to another person. You are so spot on. And I like how you boil it down to disciplining and advocating for yourself every day, before you take on your world.. I especially like your concept : Own your attention. Even though I work at night and must sleep during the day. I can walk everyday (morning, or afternoon) and not check emails like I do. I have adopted a healthier diet too (more whole foods, less junk and some super foods). Thank you, your talks have helped me more than you know!!

My life…my mornings, sometimes my evenings have been spent with you Mel ❤ cheering me on, giving me tough love and giving me the emotional support and motivation to do this thing called life with the best version of myself. One of your shorts fell into my feed last year and ever since then you’ve been a daily part of my life. Words are not enough to express how you’ve helped me. Thank you 🙏🏼

Once again, I am learning so much after reading every self-help for 30 years and I was the first to buy all the motivational books. I bought a book on "How to stop procrastinating, and I procrastinated reading it for 9 months. You are so right about putting yourself to bed earlier instead of "one last email" or "Let me finish the show" or "I will take a bath later," and then when I run out the door, stress and rushed, I never blame it on my bad habits.

Nah I disagree with this one. One of the best things I’ve done is get my sleep schedule regulated so I don’t even need an alarm. 6 hour and I’m up before my alarm. Taking some time to stretch and my brain to come into full consciousness. Before I would pop up and be less regulated because I wasn’t working with my body. I put on some Enya and stretch for about 20-30 minutes and the sun isn’t even up yet when I do get up. It works for me. 🌝 I agree no snooze, though. Try to get some direct sunlight for like 10 minutes if it’s up when you wake or before you leave for your day. It’s amazing.

The 5s rule is wickedly effective! BUT, the way I cemented into my life was the only way it would’ve worked for me: i started SMALL. I mean laughably small. In my headI state the thing first“I’m going to pick up that pen in 5,4,3,2,1” pick it up. Then worked up to the mountain-like things - at 5am, “I’m getting out of bed in 5,4,3…” you get the point. The more time I spent creating the automatic behavioral/physical response on the EASY to moderate things the easy the bigger things become. I’ve been doing this for so long that there are times that I feel my body moving “by itself” while my lazy-ass brain is watching like ‘wtf is going on right now’ like a spectator 😂. Sorry for the comment length but I couldn’t not share how legit this has been for a massive procrastinator like me.

Thanks Mel. I needed this recap. I've been doing the 54321 get out of bed. I've been doing the water first thing. I haven't been high 👋 or natural light... adding NOW. I have been struggling with the pm slump and the voice in my head says it's because you're 65 and probably need a Nanna nap, and then afterwards nothing I intend to do afterwards actually happens .😂❤

I stop 🛑 using an “ALARM” to start my day years ago. Interrupting the natural sleep cycle isn’t healthy. Learning to set your inner wake up call works better for me. From that into a meditation

I bought the LET THEM THEORY book, I follow you and I apreciate Mel so much. But, I never receive que exclusive access to Let Them Theory Masterclass, a FREE, live virtual event, on Thursday, December 12, 2024! I always check my email and I did it the 10th, the 11th, the 12 and nothing. I am really sad about it. I receive all the others newsletters, even the one sent on the 11th to let me know my book is getting before christmass (that I have seen the video about it too)
