  • Hey! Thanks for watching & I hope you enjoyed. This video was a long one to edit but it was worth it!! This BBK from DHM is awesome & well worth the money considering it was around the price of some air cleaners for a Harley Davidson. Below I pasted the link to the all inclusive BBK kit as well as my MERCH link and all the other typical stuff in every video description. I do have to say I'm not a mechanic obviously lol, so some of the stuff I did might be wrong or there might be better ways to do it.....perform all bike work at your own risk!

    Part of the fun in owning a Grom, is trying to get the most power you can out of the little engine. I love it, and couldn't give less OAF what people think about it.

    Followed this to install my kit, no problem at all!
    Although, they must have changed up their oil cooler kit a bit because mine came with a black bracket and did not mount to the bottom valve adjuster tappet, instead it mounted to the bottom head bolts and it tucked up there pretty nicely. I did have to turn the idle screw one turn because of the poor idle but my only issue now is tough starts, which i'm sure a lithium battery will take care of.

    I HAVE A 2020 HONDA GROM and I am seriously thinking about getting this kit. Everyone I talk to about it says that im going to need alot more parts to make it work right and be reliable is this true?????? Awesome tutorial by the way!!!!!!

    • @RidinDad
      @RidinDad  3 года назад

      Thank you! So everybody’s opinion is a little different. This kid specifically has pretty much everything you would ever need. There are some additional parts very small like some valve parts that are just a little bit more durable that would be a long-term thing but other than that there’s really nothing that I can think of that you would need with this kit. It pretty much has everything in it as long as you select the correct drop-down items and adding it to your card. That’s the main reason I went with this kit. I only have about 200 miles on it so far so I can’t tell you longevity wise how it has been but I can tell you that I have not been gentle with the bike and it’s giving me absolutely zero issues. I would say to make sure you have a good aftermarket exhaust and a good air filter to allow your bike to breathe with this new big bore kit

      @RidinDad  3 года назад

      I truthfully don’t know since it came as an all inclusive kit. If you go to the dhm site that may explain more. I also don’t know if you can buy the piston by itself from them. eBay might be a good choice if you have a shop to do things for you

I haven’t been able to find my top speed with the belt either due to where I live and the fact that the top speed would be well over 100mph. I didn’t feel too speed was important with this because it doesn’t decrease top speed to a noticeable level and it’s not made to increase the top speed at all in this gearing.

    They call the kit "all inclusive", but if you're going to be installing an oil cooler I hope you got a high flow oil pump as well. I recall a lot of big bore guys having severe heating issues because they weren't actually getting oil flowing throw the cooler on the stock pump.

      Sweet! Have another question if you don’t mind me asking. I just installed mine today and I’m having a problem with the idle. At first, my bike had a super hard time starting up. I did get it to stay on after a few attempts, but at low idle, the bike sounds like it wants to shut off. When I blip the throttle, it will turn off if I do that too fast. I took the bike on a short ride and it felt great while riding but turned off on my when I slowed to a stop then tried to speed up. Any idea what might be causing this problem?

    • @RidinDad
      @RidinDad  3 года назад

      How long was the ride? I would say take it on a longer calm ride if you can. Sounds like it’s going to fix itself. What air filter you using?

  • @XDImDylan
    @XDImDylan 3 года назад

    Quick question bro, Installed this same exactly kit. Started it up and ran, it does struggle abit to start though? Also, it some times stalls when i just rev it alittle.

    • @RidinDad
      @RidinDad  3 года назад +2

      I’ve never had the stalling issue at all. My only guess would be if it’s still a somewhat new install that it possibly takes some time even though the ECU is re-flashed it might just take some time for it to break in and adjust to your specific bike since they do adjust a little bit. And as far as the start up, yes. It will be sort of hard to start up especially depending on where the piston is in the engine when you start. Because it’s a larger piston and a higher compression then start. So all that means is that your battery is not as strong as it ideally would be. You can fix that with an upgraded battery like a lithium ion With some hire cold cranking amps and then what the stock battery is and it should start up really fast

    • @XDImDylan
      @XDImDylan 3 года назад

      @@RidinDad Okay awesome, ill go purchase a new battery here soon! I appreciate the help. What was your break in method?

    • @RidinDad

      Pretty much the same as stock new. Just easy on the throttle no WOT for about 100 miles and just made sure the engine was completely warmed up every time I started it and as little idling as possible.

  • @CamboJuJu
    @CamboJuJu 3 года назад

    Hey for those new to the bbk, if and when you upgrade your throttle body to something bigger ie, koso 34mm throttle body w/ intake manifold, expect to spend some money on getting your cylinder ported to match the throttle body. Just so you know - cause I didn’t.

    • @RidinDad

      Appreciate the watching man! And no, use the exact same oil as you would on a normally stock gram. Use the exact same thing the manual says. And brand is just a personal preference. I used Motu, but you can use whatever brand you want as long as it’s the same as what it calls for. As far as the amount because it has the extra oil cooler, you’ll just have to add a little bit more, but just add a tad more and just keep checking it on the dipstick to see exactly where it’s at
