- Sadly, sharks, this size are extremely rare due to pressures on their populations due to the demand for a shark fin soup, and also because of the high amount of by catch in industrial commercial fisheries which supply the majority of seafood to larger commercial, grocery and restaurants. I don't think a lot of people realize that when they go to a restaurant and order a fish or they go to a grocery store and purchase a fish that they are actually supporting the killing I'm so many other marine species. Statistics show that for everyone targeted fish that they catch they kill 9 to 12 other animals, and those include sharks, sea, turtles, sea birds, dolphins, seals, and sometimes even whales. Because of the amount of fishing gear, I have cut off of living suffering marine animals, and how many I've found dead wrapped up in line I am a vegetarian. I don't wish to push my lifestyle on anyone, but I think that people should be aware of the impacts of their consumer choices because I know there are a lot of good people out there who would prefer to not harm marine life like sharks, sea, turtles, sea birds, dolphins, seals, whales, etc and ocean ecosystems.
The demand for a shark fin soup does come from China but countries all around the world, kill sharks and ship things to China so if you can help to stop the supply chain by getting Shark finning banned in your country, and getting the shipping companies to refuse to ship the fins, that can go a long way. If you're in or from an Asian country if you can please how to translate information into local media and networks to raise awareness about the toxicity of consuming shark meat and shark fins, and about the importance of sharks in ecosystems, and the decline in their populations affecting fisheries. This shark has been shown by its identifying markers to be Haole Girl, not Deep Blue. She was feeding on a whale carcass when Ocean spotted her. Ocean waited until she was satiated, knowing sharks tend to overeat and when full are almost comatose. You can see that here, the shark barely pays attention. If the shark had been even an hour late for a meal, I guarantee it would have shown Ms. Ramsey what she thought of her in that moment. A snack.

That’s a grandma shark , so beautiful you can even see all her battle scars . She just sliding through like yeah this part of the ocean is mine .
Some of those are mating scars. Her partners grab onto her to mate. Her skin is literally twice as thick as a male's in anticipation of this.
She is defo the Queen of the ocean. You look absouloutly tiny compared to the great white. What a beautiful creature.

I’ve always been fascinated with those scars you often see on Great Whites. I think I’ve heard that it comes from mating.
It means she had sex. Male sharks bite female sharks during sex so he has some grip on her to do his thing. It's to the point female sharks have thicker skin than the males.

This shark does look pregnant, but it also looks very old. I think that you're showing sharks that have been swimming with humans for a very long time. Still nice to see.

I believe this shark is called Deep Blue and she is the largest known great white shark on earth so far. She is also VERY old.
GWs don't reach sexual maturity until they are in their 30s. Deep Blue is approximately 50 years old. GWs can live upwards of 50 years old. So yes, she could be pregnant. Ocean Ramsey is a shark conservationist, and she knows what she's doing and what she's talking about. She's been swimming with Deep Blue more than once. She knows this shark well, and scientists are quite fascinated with Deep Blue. She has given humans a deeper understanding of sharks.

This definitely is Deep blue. This was the well documented encounter with Ocean Ramsey off of the island of Oahu here in Hawaii. If you search "deep blue Hawaii shark" there should be local news reports about the encounter.

This is just breathtaking. Swimming alongside this massive shark while a cpl of dolphins follow along? This is amazing to see. I can't imagine how excited the diver must have felt to have this special opportunity. It's like a moment of perfect symbiosis.

The only way they (marine biologist like the one in the damn video) can identify different sharks and not like fingerprint accuracy but still pretty accurate is by their dorsal fins. Also the marine biologist was talking about Blue in the full video. Stop butting in and harassing people. Acting like you know everything when clearly not watching the entire video.

Absolutely beautiful. I'm in love with great white sharks. I used to be scared of sharks but I've learned how important they are to us and the Earth. Absolutely vital to the waters.
I am as well. I was mad when I went to the Baltimore MD aquarium and found out they removed the great white sharks cause they cost to much to feed and are a bit aggressive. I'm from Baltimore btw.

theres no courage in swimming with a shark that is fed beforehand and likely drugged, she makes sure her environment is safe to the detriment of the sharks, its the same as a liontamer going into a cage with a lion that is chained up drugged up and too weak to move. she doesnt care as long as she can get her ass in the video
I think this is Haola Girl. She was first identified and named by photographer Kimberly Jeffries and her team in Oahu.
Haola Girl and Deep Blue often get confused for each other because they are roughly the same size, 20 ft, but have different markings. Adding to the confusion, Deep Blue was also swimming in the same area as Haola Girl a few days prior.
There was a really good documentary made a few years about the discovery of this shark and there is more info available on online like on BBC, DPG, wiki and such.

Years ago, they tagged one named MARY and this is about 12 years ago maybe a little longer at that point she was 16.7 feet and I don’t remember her weight and she was very pregnant. Huge shark. Used to be able to track her, but I don’t know how to do it anymore. I’d really like to know if she’s still alive and if she’s the same size or bigger than deep blue or maybe this is MARY.

Yes sharks CAN get full. Usually when they have a whale carcass they can gorge on. Regardless Blue has actually looked like this for a few years now. I don't remember the gestational period for a shark buuuuuut I'm pretty sure it's not over a year.

She's moving pretty slow, if indeed she is pregnant it might be the reason. Her follow-up girth is immense.😱😱😱😱 perhaps the sheer weight of her is just too hard on her. That's if she really is pregnant. Also could have the genes of an extra large father and mother. She is HUGE, as in overweight for the great white species.😰😰😰😰😰😰 She's as slow as a sloth, which is unusual. Perhaps she needs some veterinary intervention. If she's pregnant and has trouble w/ the birth, she could possibly die. I hope she's OK. 😕😕 Sharks are a necessity in our oceans. I hope she survives this pregnancy/ obesity.😥😥
