    I think that it may be better to install the valve horizontally and the put a 90 degree bend on the outlet from the valve, that way the pipe from the tank would be lower and the outlet would be higher if that make sense, and if the outlet is higher you may be able to get a bucket underneath if you need to.

    looks handy. Im not having any onboard water on the trailer at this time but something to keep in mind for future builds for sure. id suggest plastidip instead of the bag im guessing the bad will rip when you go on gravel as well as hold water IN and not let it to try out.

    Nice video, you can actually get a 2 wire normally closed one that will automatically close when it loses power. That’s what we have. All you need is positive and negative and a normal switch.

    • @UrbanVanlife
      @UrbanVanlife  3 года назад

      yer but it means you have to keep power to it to keep it opoen , and after looking in to them the main problem with them is people forget to turn the power off and the thing burns out over time ,

    • @theoteam4641
      @theoteam4641 3 года назад

      @@UrbanVanlife nope not with this ball valve, for the solenoid I had before you needed power to keep it open, but for this new ball valve it only uses 5W to open and once it’s open it doesn’t use anymore power and once it loses power it just closes on its own, so it’s very power efficient. I wish I installed it earlier in the build lol. I had to clean the solenoid valve k had in before about 4 times because it kept getting blocked with food, but with this ball valve no more blockage 😁

    Hi mate good video, handy thing to have.
    Good to see you at the show the other week.👍
    My waste just drains straight outside which is much easier 😂
    If you had the ball valve mounted sideways you could get more out of the tank as the inlet would be lower and without the need 90 degree elbow.

    • @UrbanVanlife
      @UrbanVanlife  3 года назад

      yer im thinking of repositioning it mate so its on its side

  • @l92910
    @l92910 2 года назад +1

    great upgrade. and just an idea, if you wanted to make it even easier you could fit two delay-off relay boards for each positive feed so that when you click the momentary switch it’ll trigger the relay that essentially holds the switch for you for say 5 seconds to fully operate the valve and then it’ll stop. just to save you holding it down and not knowing when it’s fully open/closed. this is what i’d do but I don’t even have a waste tank haha

    Holy shit Neil, you are on it buddy, My waste tank pipes kept blocking up and began to stink the van up, my solution was to remove said waste tank and allow grey water to flow direct to ground. If I’m ever on a campsite or a place that will make people frown I’ll simply put a bucket under the outlet. Never needed to do that yet though 😂

    • @UrbanVanlife
      @UrbanVanlife  3 года назад

    Could have fixed the valve immediately on the exit of the tank, you would need to fashion a bracket, but it looks like the valve would have been higher than the bottom of the tank, and then run waste pipe to side of van, otherwise great job,
    Also, installing a cheap reversing camera under the van would allow you to remain in your seat

    • @UrbanVanlife
      @UrbanVanlife  3 года назад +1

      nothing to fix it to on the tank side plus you dont need to leave your seat , you just hold the button in count to 5 and its open and then the same in reverse buddy

      That model is marked IP65 (but it is made of pure Chinesium, so you should probably take that with a pinch of salt), so in theory...
      "Water projected for three minutes by a nozzle (6.3 mm (0.25 in)) at a pressure of 30kPa and a rate of 12.4l/min against the enclosure from any direction shall have no harmful effects."
      The only problem I see is that the valve is sited behind the rear wheel, so in wet weather it's going to get a constant forceful spray. A simple baffle/guard on the wheel side would probably be sufficient, but bagging it up would also work.
