I can't listen to this song without crying. Mostly because the first time I heard it was watching the manifestation for the victims at Utøya. That was the first time I really understood how close Sweden was to Norway. One of my colleagues had a daughter who just survived because she was to sick to go. Another guy I had partied with 20 years earlier survived by hiding in the water. Highly recommend watching the manifestation to understand the full emotional impact of the song.
Same here. A former classmate of mine went to Utöya the year before the attack and was supposed to go the next year too but lukcily she didnt. - northern swede.
Something I think deserve recognition is the fact that she usually plays all the intruments on her songs. She has so many great swedish songs, I hope you'll hear them, like Goliat to just name one, she also did really stunning covers on Så mycket bättre 2011, the year before this song came out :)
One of 3 songs on my mothers funeral was not this one but another song from this artist." En stund på jorden" My mother never had any ties to this artist or music but the song was writen in as 1 of the 3 in her las will so it was played as the last one in her funeral.
The slow version of this song at the memorial is so moving. Another great and even more moving song is “live tomorrow “ by her. This blew up when played at the memorial of the lost ones Tsunami 2004. My absolute favourite Laleh song in Swedish is: Bara få va mig själv! A truly empowering song and I think used in an anti bullying campaign in Sweden.

I love this song! Laleh actually said in an interview from "Hitliåtens historia", I think, that she wrote this song to her mother that was sick so I can see why you think about a mother talking to a father.
I was working at a directory assistance / number information center in sweden when the attack on Utøya happened and from one moment nobody called in asking for numbers or directions anymore, everyone who called in wanted to talk and get some counselling. So thats what we did, talked to mourning people or people in need of a friend day and night.
I've always kinda felt that this song is like an emotional rollercoaster that alternates between happiness and depressing anxiety. The first verse is like: "I will always remember you no matter what, you're the best thing that ever happened to me" and then when the refrain drops it's like the "storyteller" totally loses it and falls into anxiety that all happiness may end at any time. Does anyone understand what I'm expressing? As I said. An emotional rollercoaster. This song will always have a place in my heart.
Thanks for your reactions 😄 I enjoyed many of them. This song was released before the terror attack, and in the live song on the memorial the tune is noticeable more sad. Laleh is a master in playing with words and taste the sounds of words in her songs while repeating words and changing the mood and the way how she pronounce it. It is remarkable how nice and easy she do that both in English and Swedish considering her childhood moving from Iran to Russia then to Germany and later as a 10 year old girl end up in Sweden becoming a fantastic singer an vocalist. Try the live from Oslo. I also suggest to compare the first edition to the second edition of the song “Han tuggar kex” And try to interpret her feelings in both. Keep up man and Thank You
Nice to hear Laleh, one of Sweden's finest artists. Some suggestions: Andreas Johnson: Glorious. Or maybe some Eurodisco: Angels Crying by E-type. Or some real disco: We keep on rocking with Alcazar. Good to have you back Jonathan!
Laleh Pourkarim är en otroligt duktig låtskrivare. Hon skriver till många kända artister. Hon gjorde en duett med amerikanska Adam Lambert (som turnerar med Queen), den heter "Welcome to The Show". 👍
Laleh - En Stund På Jorden, it is a completely different song from Cornelis Vreeswijk - Sommarkort (a phrase in that song is "en stund på jorden"). Both should be covered. Both songs deals with the existential issues of being alive, and the threat of death that we all face. You know Sweden, darkness have taught us how fragile we all are and have produced some of the most delicate songs.
Welcome back, Jonathan! 😊 I have a feeling that 2022 will be the year when you react to *Stone me into the Groove* by Atomic Swing. (I know you said it was on the list, I just want to remind you.) And also, thank you for doing this project. It's such a joy! I look forward to every video! 😀
Oke, saw your chritsmas reactions to get in a good mood yesterday and wondered what songs would be the next classics to react to if you would continue (you’ve done a lot of them). I thought maaybe a Laleh song if she’s not considered too “young” heh and voilà(!) Great artist who doesn’t compromise her music and it slowly took her to classic status. You always bring a good vibe with you. And all the classics. Thank you!:)
I would say Laleh is a singing poet, her lyrics are so great and deep with many layers, you hear something new every time you listen. We actually had a Laleh-inspired service in our local church a couple of years ago, where the choirs sang her songs all through the different ceremonies. That was great! And your next choice, well finally! If you don't like it I'm afraid I'm going to have to unfollow this channel ... 😆😆😆
Its a versatile song. Its likely intended as a couple where one of the them is dying, but I feel like it can be seen from the perspective of 2 siblings. One singing to their other sibling who is dying
Jonathan! I recommend you to listen to another song by Laleh. ”En stund på jorden”. Den är fantastiskt bra. Är också med i filmen ”En man som heter Ove”. Både filmen och Lalehs låt har blivit mycket uppskattad världen över. Riktigt bra! 🙋♀️🎶🎵
I think this song sounds like someone talking to a young friend or lover who is in a coma or another kind of life-threathening state as a result of a dramatic situation or terminal illness and fighting for his or her life. "Some die young, but you better hold on". In that respect it fits better as an "encouragement" for those who was mortally wounded and still struggling to survive at the time of the songs release. But if it helps the friends and families of those who died, then. . .
Kent - Utan dina andetag Helen Sjöholm - Du måste finnas Ainbusk singers - Älska mig Sven-Bertil Taube - Så skimrande var aldrig havet Lill Lindfors - Den första gång jag såg dig
this song is about her father. her father supposedly saved something but died himself as I have heard. think it was that he drowned. Can't quite remember right now.😢
Was this some kind of dance remix or something? I didn't listen to it that much back in the days but I do not remember it with all those weird "drum" noices underneath. Sista morgonen is a really nice one. And we again come back to our favourite swedish mood with that one. :)
Second video idea: Thomas Stenström - ”Ser du månen där du är ikväll”. It is about cancer i think. (Watch the music video, and you will understand!) for me this song is very emotional. And also in my opinion the best Swedish song made in 2021. It’s well played at many funerals here in Sweden right now. This song has blown up everywhere. Thank you! Link to the video: ruclips.net/video/3x33lFpdFJs/видео.html
You should definitely react to ”Du får göra som du vill” - Alba August. It’s a remake of Patrik Isakssons classic for the series ”Knutby” that has been shown on tv during the fall. Her version is really emotional and her voice really do the song justice. A series for you to watch and a song for you to react to - it hits even harder when sung in the series. Please and thank you 🙏🏼
"Im a bit chocked by the beat being so up when the song is so serious. Its a thing amongst swedish muscians apparently. Laleh's father drowned trying to help someone else when she was young so I would have imagined it was about him.
Nordic melancholy goes hand in hand with upbeat tunes 😬 Also, she wrote this song after her mother past away.

I love Lalehs way of singing and her lyrics. But I like her Swedish lyrics better.
