20:50, this is a great point. Scheduling an hour of entertainment is more realistic than to use it as a pacifier whenever I am waiting somewhere a couple of minutes.

I have heard you talk about the "what do you do" question many times and have to disagree with the base assumption here. I've always asked this question to get an idea of someone is interested in, to find common ground to start a conversation. If they work as a programmer, for instance, I can talk nerd stuff with them. I think it's a bit cynical to assume people are always trying to judge you... I feel bad if that was your experience but it is not often my experience.

I think you're right, it's kind of a stock question like "how are you" - but you wouldn't really use that on someone you've just met . . . the problem in this podcast is more around where you yourself don't want to be held up to that question due to your own changes of circumstances; a kind of embarrassment that you don't feel comfortable answering in the conventional way.
Example, you are now a writer, but unpublished, so feel insecure or maybe even a fake to answer the stock question with that stock answer . . it doesn't (you feel) stand up to any scrutiny in the follow up conversation. So you don't want the conversation to kick off or revolve around the job title thing.
Insecurity / lack of confidence / a realistic understanding of how your answer will be interpreted sponsored this question, I think.

You say Productivity and Efficiency is an imaginary value, but isn't it necessary to progress with your passions? I also think it is a value that works against other imaginary values. Hope you can elaborate on your point of view of this.

I was wondering the same... Maybe the answer is partly in the one sentence tweetable definition you assign to that word? I'll have to ponder that one.

..Core values; I am a Mom, daughter, sister,.Not in that order......Balance that with being an Inhome care Nurse. Simple is a really cool word in my daily life. When you vent on me, I listen and breathe. I figured out of that emotional blowout. I'm cool. I'm good. I will see 2marrow. Love.

I don't use the word "hate" very often. I hate how the banks and credit card companies sell 17/18 year olds on credit cards. No collateral. By the way, the interest on these loans are like death sentences. These institutions should be outlawed. Period.

Love it, answer the trite old question of 'what do you do?' with 'I'm passionate about X...' or 'I love doing X...' rather than a job title.
