shift a to add stuff
e to extrude, m to merge, r to rotate, f to fill faces
middle mouse to rotate viewport, shift middle mouse to shmoove
image textures don't save with ctrl s you gotta save them manually
also don't copy how I texture things it's very evil

Mark the image as "Fake User". It's the shield button next to any datablock field (like images in the UV editor). This will force Blender to save the image datablock with the .blend even if it has no other references in the project.
These timelapse videos are very helpful in learning the process for character modeling in Blender. Thanks for making this!

i got into blender recently for the same reason but tbh it's not that hard to learn its just a very feature packed program so you can easily forget how to do stuff/where a button is/etc
btw thanks for the tutorial in the description. all tutorials legit make me have brain aneurysm but the one in the description is easy to understand

great video! I watched it when it came out but i'm returning to say that the description of this video is the cheat sheet refer to every time i forget a keyboard shortcut in blender.
also the donut tutorial is really good and really bad at the same time yeah. it's really good for learning render settings and getting introduced to a lot of different facets of blender, but really bad for beginner modelers (or rly anyone who already knows what part of blender they want to learn) because it talks about a lot of things you don't need, and doesn't get to a lot of things you DO need until way later in the course. also, more importantly, it's just kind of anti fun and demotivating bc it's so boring.

Hi, I have a few questions. How long did this model take? Also why does the donut tutorial suck? I’ve been thinking about watching it but I’m not sure if you think it sucks. Also your characters are just so cute :3
the donut tut isn’t that bad, if you’re just learning to render then sure, by all means go ahead and do it! i do character modeling, i can send some links of other tutorial vids i think are more helpful regarding character modeling if you’d like!
idk how long it took I don't keep track lol, don't take my word as megatruth I am quite dense but the doughnut tutorial doesn't teach many of the skills for what I and presumably you want to do, it's needlessly in depth for a beginner tutorial which is pretty gosh darn discouraging and I am biased because I don't like blenderguru
adding on to these other replies apparently blender guru said he misses the f slur or something so I don't watch him but also his tutorials don't seem that good anyway so what could I be missing out on

hello there! i was wondering how you managed to get the reference to use as a base for the model creation? as i've tried to use my local png files and it refuses to work for me ;w;
What program are you using to model? If it's blender then I guess I just just don't know how to use blender well because I don't recognize some of the features.

im curious how you do your mirroring when i click the ones in the top right corner they dont work, so im wondering how you mirror
Go to the edit mode, go to add modifier, select the mirror modifier, and set it to mirror on the y axis
