  • Found this old gem of a game, and after many hours figured out how to make it run on my computer! It brought back so many wonderful memories. Hopefully does the same for you!

    Bro this just took me straight back to childhood. That narrator nostalgia is strong.

      I love it as well. Trying to get the model data currently... Not an easy task. Hoping to make a modernized version also additional game modes in my mind. But the assets are what I need the most haha

    8:25 Cedric was lifting that portcullis up like it was nothing! Also I believe the game's manual says he can chop wood with his bare hands. Cedric is definitely stronger then he looks, probably one of the reasons he calls himself "The Bull". Wouldn't wanna get into a fist fight with him!

      Yeah! I am in the process of trying to remake the game. I reached out to one of the original developers of the series and they gave me some tips and a manual used. But the program Superscape VRT 5.70, they did not keep their copy. ☺

    I asked my parents for this game for Christmas way back when it released, but my dad was only able to find Rock Raiders, which he got me instead. I remember being so disappointed when I opened that gift lol then I actually played RR and it was incredible. Nice to finally see what I missed out on :)

      Sorry about the disappointment. Hopefully it did not bring any animosity between the two of you. Also, the power of technology allows for experiences to be brought back in the future. I will make a video tutorial if you are interested. It is how I was able to replay the game. :)

      @@GriceD Oh none at all! I love my dad, it's funny how him getting me a different gift ended up introducing me to my favorite Lego theme! I'd love a tutorial if you ever get around to making one

      Cool, I will make one soon. Finishing up some course work for uni, and full time job. :)

      Yeah, it is a really great game! I am trying to reverse engineer the assets, to modernize it and add more game modes. Just ma having trouble with how the model data is stored.

    As much as I loved this game I do wish there was some kind of option at the start to let you pick to either side with the Lions or with the Bulls. With the Bulls version of the tutorial being slightly different and about helping Cedric in his fight against Leo before letting you join his gang. Maybe even have Gilbert the Bad (Bull soldier with eye patch) be the Bulls answer to Richard as a tutorial guide.
    Cuz I always liked and rooted for Cedric more (I usually rooted for the villains) and I believe one of the main concepts of Knights Kingdom 1 in general was about you decide which side you are on, how the story goes and who wins in the end.

      Yeah! I wish that was the case as well! I am trying (very slowly) to remake this, into a webapp using MERN-stack with 3JS. But extracting the assets from the game is... challenging. Have been able to get textures, but the models themselves are super hard.
      Then there is the actual creating of games, which I have zero experience in.

      @@GriceD If this game did have individual voice actors for each character I can just see Scott McNeil as Cedric. I feel he'd fit quite well as Cedric not to mention Scott has voiced quite a few Lego characters.

    Every time when I booted this game up the intro was covered up with a huge black screen. I played it on Windows XP so I assume it had something to do with that.

      @GriceD  7 дней назад

      Yeah, it really was buggy. You can view the entire game now no problem. Just need to play around with properties as well as download the DGVoodoo2 application from GitHub. Helps a-lot!

    Not the best audio quality, but then again these games can't be played as they were intended anymore now can they
    You got the 16:9 aspect ratio working though, nice job

      Thanks! I am remaking the game right now. Been in contact with some of the original developers. I also have been in contact with someone that used the original software which was made from the company. So hoping to get model data and others fairly soon.
      Glad you enjoyed it! 🙂

    I still have the disc, but I can't get it installed :(

      I own the CD too, but was unable to get it working. I then downloaded the ISO file from archive . org, and was able to install it using PowerISO.
      What Operating System are you using? I used Windows 10 for playing the game and it worked, and know it can also run on Windows 7/10/11. I made a separate video, on how to play old games on modern systems. I used Lego Creator Knights Kingdom as the example, if you wanted to watch that and see if it helps! 😇

    How do I make it run on win10?

    • @GriceD
      @GriceD  Год назад +4

      I had to use Hyper-V which is an emulator made by Microsoft. From there, I installed Windows 7 and was able to play it that way. When trying to run on Windows 10, it would work once. But either the videos would not play (be all black) or when interacting with the game itself, the chat bubbles would not work and I could not see the characters. It was a pain to figure all of it out.
      If you want to try, install the game, then go to the install folder, right click on the application-properties-compatibility-check run for and change to Windows XP SP3, run as admin, reduce color to 16 bit, run in 640x480 resolution. That worked for me one time, then the game became screwy. Granted, I am using AMD graphics card, not built in Intel.
      Hope this helps!
