    The Bionicle community loves the shoulder and shin armor pieces. Since the Knights Kingdom sets were dipping their toes into Constraction, I would not be surprised if they got some help from the Bionicle team even if the parts never really crossed over. Even in 2005, I don't know how much the fanbase was looking at other themes for parts, but I remember seeing a number of MOCs using the Knights Kingdom pieces in the late 2000s and early 2010s. Still see them from time to time today, too.

      I thought for a second they officially crossed-over, but then realized it was the fan designs for the Toa Hagah that I was thinking of.

      @Bionickpunk 10 месяцев назад +3

      @@RustbeltCollectorThey fit well for the more knightly appearance of the Toa Hagah, so it makes sense that fans would gravitate towards these pieces in making the 4 other Hagah.

    The name of Santis’ special function was the ‘Orkosan side-sweep’.
    There was a time period around 2014 where I had it in my mind that I’d create a Brickfilm Epic of the Knights Kingdom story. I wanted to be as accurate as I could to the established story details, and so I dug into allllll the materials I could find and was pulling from the LEGO website, the comics in the instructions, all the trading cards, and the scholastic readers they made. A lot of the trading cards were hard to find, bricklink or brickset didn’t have legible photos for lots of them and I never got all the readers. By that point I was getting ready for college though, and it never made it any further than than some rough document outlines, some folders full of downloaded card pictures and the scholastic books, and a few bricklink orders to complete the first and second wave.
    I’d actually completely forgotten I went to all that effort LOL
    It also reminds me of how much I appreciated LEGO’s storytelling during that time period. While it was never a bionicle or a ninjago in terms of scope of story, there was a very clear narrative to the theme. And it was a lot of fun trying to piece together more details from those sources like the cards or the website, finding out more about how they trained, the cities the knights came from, other characters, etc. LEGO definitely does things of that sort still, but I do miss the way they sometimes used to approach their storytelling for their original themes.

    A part of me wonders what Knights Kingdom would have been like if it had used CCBS; a lot of the armor pieces feel like an earlier, more primitive take on the shells and attachment system far more than most bionicle pieces.
    I think it's interesting that we see the same design struggles that the bionicle team had when it came to making one basic action figure with different colors and slightly different parts. It really wouldn't be until the 2007 wave that we saw what were "clone sets" become far different and more distinct.

They really went with the approach of dont fix what isnt broken, but improved them on the aspects that could be improved upon. We had Santis and Vladek from wave 2 and all the others from wave 1 and as a child it always felt very fitting for these two to be bulkier. @@CheeseyStudios, i never see the card themselves, but i do remember seeing the art and the lore of the cards, they put the lore in the manual, just after the montage instructions.
      Using the Wave 1 Santis set as a example, in his manual we have the montage instructions, and after that we have a 15 page comic book style with no dialogues history, showing the Knights saving King Mathias, taking their quest to obtain the Heart of the Sheild, and their final battle with Vladik.
      The beggining and the final are the same for all the Knights, but each character have at least 5 pages that are exclusive for the Knight will bought, in Santis case his exclusive pages show his test in the citadel were he splits the giant bolder in two.
      I loved this, because it was a way to incentive you to buy the other figures, so you can know the other parts of the history and show each character skills and personality.

    I had the foam sword, but i don't think i had the helmet. Still have it. Young me covered it in stickers from a bionicle puzzle sticker book thing. Possibly some fish stickers from a fish sticker thing too, equally as square so probably another puzzle book but i really don't remember that source.

    I get the feeling the design team for Knight's Kingdom took inspiration from The Legend of Zelda given the heavy use of left-handedness. Link has predominantly been a left-handed character with some exceptions here and there.
