Oh yeeeeeah
Thank you!!
Hey, I have a suggestion, why not F-ZERO snes deconstructions? (I have the .VGM and FOObar too and I've separated the channels.) For starters port town would be cool.
Hey Channel 0, how many instruments can you play?
Channel 0: Yes.
LockeRobster vocal, piano, record scratching, whatever that one part is after the record scratching and before the piano
Channel 0: I can play the *_h u e_*
Huehuehuehuehuehue
Turtles and the saxophone at 2:25
Channel 0: this isn't even my final form. (Metallic Madness plays)
I'm speaking for Capathia808 because they won't say: STOP ASKING FOR THE PRESENT AND FUTURE!
Only the Past songs can be deconstruced as they are stored in a channel-based format while the Present and Future songs are stored in as can be best approximated by modern formats: Wav (Apparently)
Wav stores a Waveform which media players can then play back, these files can get quite large which is why I said MP3.
That's something I did not know. Pretty cool to learn how these old games worked
/crash periodic Its actually the reason why the past songs don’t change in the US version, and why the other songs don’t loop properly in the game
Bluerious Aren't the past tracks the only ones that loop correctly though?
Silver Sonic 1992 I meant *the rest of the soundtrack
Oh, I see.
0:00 when dad tells a dad joke and it's not that funny but you wanna be supportive
LMAO
Ha ha! Good one!
this song alway had a melancholic feeling to me, i don't know, maybe it's because it reminds the past, when times where simpler, times that are now long forgotten
Yeah, its sad ;-;
I kinda agree. It sorta makes me sad.
@@lsddreamemulator especialy the ending part
It *is* a past theme.
Sonic CD as a whole makes me feel very melancholic and a weird sense of dread. It's very weird
Channel 0 is my favourite. It has the funky plucky bits, saxophone, swipey noises, piano and the iconic Hues. Also the Mega CD's bass sounds completely different to the the normal Mega Drive bass, but it suits the past more. Great song anways, nice to see it deconstructed.
Same
channel 0 and 4 are my favorite
fun fact: the sega cd sound chip it pretty much identical to the super nintendo sound chip which means it’s all sample/sound font based which means the base in all the cd past tracks are sampled.
@@Karnage233 yeah but it not limited to having to share it space with all sound effects and other tricks making it sound better

3:28 *New Jack Swing intensifies*
4:33 Man with hi-hats and cymbals walks in
no, nJs is the present theme
@@andytheezboy2903 the present theme is more of a house track with new jack swing elements
@@GameDimensionFusion present is njs, bf is acid house/rave, past is oldies jazz (mixed with hip hop and house),gf is contemporary R&B
@@andytheezboy2903 I can def agree with what you have listed for the good and bad future. I dont get house out of this theme because the bounce just ain't right for it. I get the jazz and hip-hop influences but that basically describes what NJS was built off ( in addition to R&B). And when I said present is house with NJS elements I meant like as far as instrumentation yes I get heavy NJS vibes, but because of the way the percussion was set up, its house. Or hip-house even (Which I didnt know was a thing for a while lol).
You could put every classic sonic track into a Quintessential 90s Music playlist and I don't think anyone would complain

Here’s a little FYI for those who want carpathia808 to deconstruct the present, bad, and good future themes from Sonic CD: The past themes are stored in a channel-based format where as the present, bad, and good future themes are stored in as the can be best approximated modern formats: mp3.
Fun Fact: It’s the reason the past themes don’t change in the US soundtrack and it’s also why the other songs don’t loop properly in-game.
Thank you for making this comment, I was wondering why there was a Sonic CD Past themes deconstructed playlist and no other time period themes from CD
to be specific, it's stored as redbook audio
It's just raw cd audio at 1400kbps bitrate.
Another Fun Fact: US soundtrack really don't want to do past tracks due to deadlines, i think. Makes me wonder why they didn't do it in the first place consider they did the present, good and bad futures.
I still remember hearing the hissing sound of my Sega CD as it had to spin up for every reply of present and future.
3:13 sounds so beautiful
It does
Ikr
This reverb in every channel 0 and 2 make this music so much like your singing in the city of Stardust, i mean imagine at 0:24 2:24 2:40 you play this instrument live at the Stardust Speedway Past zone because that beautiful reverb of music feel you in that zone! with sunset almost night sky and also i see the mountain far away from this zone
The reverb is so beautiful to see assembled by layer. Makes the eyes and ears happy.
And then you hit the bass and drum immediately after. 👏
0:09 sounds like a song by its self til 1:20
What about 3:12?
It's so 90s
909 everywhere on this soundtrack and it's great
As far as I'm concerned the TR-909 is only being used for the hi-hat...
@ isn’t the snare a 909 snare
@@skep2923 Nope, it sounds more like its sibling TR-808.
@ that sounds nothing like an 808 snare lol, also op wasn't talking specifically about this track he was talking generally about this soundtrack

I guess Channel 0 is our favorite channel here. Either that, or it’s at least the most iconic. The hues. That sick melody. And the piano? Huge props on this one!
Damn this one sounds compressed without everything playing at once

Could you deconstruct Your Name Please from Earthbound?
MetalMargatroid i second this
And porky says bussiness

no deconstruct giygas
channels 2 and 3 are my favorites omg
I never understood what the voice at 0:00 was supposed to be.
The original sample is like "Hey, hey heyyy!" But when it's compressed and slowed down it sounds like "Hue".

Jack DO ITTT
Thank you for putting the hues this time
I always loved the past versions, they were different. Funky. This is amazing.
My favourite past music. IDK how the PCM chip it hasn't been used more often to make music. The Redbook Audio eclipsed it absolutely.
if only there was a tracker for it
@@jess648 there's it. In theory, deflemask can work with it because it's the same chip that the Sega arcades just like the Y Board and System 32 uses.
I wonder if someone can make Sonic CD with only chiptune music. It would fix the bad looping of the tracks
All you need is 0, 2, and 3, and you've already got something amazing
1:25 my favorite part
I never realized how much does the channel 4 in hearing... now i cant unhear it
I love how the beginning tickles my ears
HUE HUE INTENSIFIES
"Door into Summer"(Knuckles' Chaotix) (Когда я только приехал к автобусу в Москву)
"Go, go, Robo" (Sonic Mania - Vs Heavy Egg-robo)
You sound like you had the best vacation ever.
Now I know what channels make what sound. Thanks!
I love how they deconstructed this tune!
I think that the hi-hat sound since 4:33 in Channel 5 is from the Roland TR-909 drum machine. When I heard for the first time, I thought that came from a drum machine, in specific, the TR-808 but it's really from the TR-909.
Edit: Great deconstruction!
Well, one instrument less. I didn't know what drum machine was used, but I was always sure that the composers had used the Korg M1 and the Roland D-50 (and/or maybe the SC-55) to compose the music of this game.
I remember that there was a forum around 2009 where some people were debating about which synthesizers and drum machines were used to compose this soundtrack. Sadly, that forum is dead so i've never managed to know the identity of the instruments used in this OST. It's nice to know now what drum machine was used in this theme.
@@TheSuperPlayer707 The Japanese soundtrack of Sonic CD relied heavily on Datafile, X-Static Goldmine, the Korg 01/w, the Korg Wavestation, and the Roland D-70. I and a couple of others are currently tracking down the sources of the instruments.
@@BouncyGlowsMusicRoom WOW!!! Thank you so much! I was sure that the game used the Korg Wavestation+M1, but with the rest of the synthesizers I was close. Thank you for telling me some of the exact instuments and good luck looking for the rest of them.
_PS: I already made a quick look of your channel, I'm subcribing right now!_
@@TheSuperPlayer707 You are welcome! Information about the equipment used in the JP soundtrack is scarce. Anyway, thanks for subscribing! You may be interested in a Tidal Tempest Past restoration/remaster that I did a few months back, using my discoveries.
