The Bible is clear on this issue. Women can serve in many ways within a ministry but not as Pastors. God has established boundaries and for good reason. Sadly the Church continues to be watered down to suit the culture.
100%. While women could publicly pray and prophesy in church (1 Cor. 11:1-16), they could not teach or have authority over a man (1 Tim. 2:11-14), since these were two essential functions of the clergy. Nor could women publicly question or challenge the teaching of the clergy (1 Cor. 14:34-38).
@@jenniferturner9012 Scripture is clear. I welcome all to watch Mike Wingers EXHAUSTIVE treatment of the subject. I don't agree with all of it, but I don't think one can come away from that thinking scripture allows for female pastors. Never mind that scripture is clear and gives specific instruction and qualifications.
We women have very important roles in the church, but a Pastor is not one of them. I don’t understand why this is such a problem with some women. God set the purpose for each gender, a man cannot fully fulfill the position of a woman and vice versa. Haven’t we seen the effects of this in the world today? We now have people who don’t know what gender they are.
I live literally right next door to a church for the past 16 yrs and have never had the urge to step 1 foot inside.I see the same ppl attending 4 days a week like brainwashed drones. It's ridiculous. You don't need someone else to tell you to have morals and values, to do the right thing. I don't need to pay someone to tell me to be a good person.
The point is NOT about someone telling you to be good. Read Psalm 14 and Romans 3. The point is that we are so hopelessly lost without Jesus. We need a SAVIOR. Matthew 7:21-23 tells us there will many who are lost who were "good".
Hard to find, these days. They often claim things as sin that are not in scripture and excuse sins that are in scripture. I think there is room for disagreement on some issues, but on some there is not.
@@justinkase1360 There is 0 room for disagreement on any issue when it comes to God's Church. 2 Jhn 9 says that whoever doesn't abide in the doctrines of Christ is out of alignment with God. And in such a situation, a person is subscribing to heresy. This is exactly why _none_ of the denominations are practicing the truth: they all think they can disagree with God's doctrines and still be considered Christian.
But yet the prophet Joel said your sons and daughters would prophesy. Paul instructs the women on how to prophesy. Paul appointed Phoebe to carry his letter to the Cenchrean church and expound on it herself. Paul challenged the church to accept Phoebe and treat her like they would any other preacher.
THIS is why our church is not Southern Baptist no women preachers, you can teach women and children. Women are not to preach to men, it is in the bible.

Yes, fellow prisoners in Christ Jesus, but so are all who believe what the Word of God says, yet that does not make any of us Apostles. If the scriptures had said that Junia was counted among the Apostles, then yes, I would agree, but it does not. If a man chooses to listen to a woman preacher then, obviously, she is not usurping his authority. It's his free choice and it means she's a good Bible teacher. This is not rocket science. Only prideful Christians who have a religious spirit would prefer to listen to an unanointed pastor than an anointed woman who knows the Word of God. You don't need much spiritual discernment to know which pastors are anointed and which ones are not. People who love learning the deep things of God, through the Holy Scriptures, don't care if they're listening to a man or a woman. Only religious church folks do. God is using issue like this to test His household. I hope you love the whole Word of God and are learning what the Father's plans are for the resurrected/raptured church because He is expecting you to have been taught that by now. Sadly, the church has been so dumbed down by those standing in God's pulpits that you can't even conceive of what your ministry will be during the 7 years of Daniel's 70th week. Yet, it's recorded in the Bible. You just have to dig for it.
The "scripture" has been re-written over and over since it was first conceived of. Why do you think their are so many different Abrahamic denominations? They all can not agree on what god says or even how it should be worshiped. Now you need to go through and find out which one is correct and tell us cause they all claim to be the one true word of god. If you ask me I think the Jews are the most correct cause they seem the oldest but since they don't think hey-zeus was the savior they are waiting for it rules them out I guess.

You don't hire a calling you acknowledge it and then approve it by the the Word of God. The gifts and callings are from Him and are given to the Church.
I know what a calling is. My husband was called to the ministry. However, a minister is paid by the (local) church body, therefore he is hired by them. When I used hire in quotes above, I was using the scriptural qualifications to select then hire him for that church - the ecclesia, the body.

@johnsonfamilyhomeschool675 Are you aware that 1 Timothy 2,12 could just as well be translated "I suffer not a wife to teach or usurp authority over a husband " ? The Greek word for husband is the same as the word for man, and the Greek word for wife is the same as the word for woman. So many men in the Church prefer the translation that keeps Christian women bound in a second class position. Paul was speaking of a certain situation with a certain couple in Timothy's church, not against all women for all time.
What does God word say about women being over a church. These people need to read God’s word and they will see its stance against women pastors. Women are not to lead a church, therefore if they allow this, they’re placing man’s opinion on this issue over God’s word. Liberalism continues to engulf the church. Obey God not man. Dr. J. Phillip had four virgin daughters WHO ALL WERE PROPHETESS'S, in the latter days your sons AND DAUGHTERS SHALL PROPHECY, Moses sister was a prophetess, Huldah was the head of Israel's bible college, Deborah was the judge who was the head of Israel and lead Israel into victorious battles.. God chooses whomever He will..
The prophet office doesn't give someone ecclesiastical authority. They relay revelation from God. Huldah is an example of how this works. Hilkiah was the minister as the priest, not Huldah. God also struck Miriam with leprosy when she tried to elevate herself to Moses' lvl of being a minister. The only time someone can be both a prophet and minister under the New Covenant is if they are an apostle, and even then they'd have to be a _man_ .
@@theeternalsbeliever1779 You're mistaken. Are Prophets/Prophetess not called by the Holy Spirit of God for the edification of the Church in the Spirit? They are! Moreover, they hold the second highest authority in the Spirit within the Church. "And He Himself gave some to be apostles, some prophets, some evangelists, and some pastors and teachers, for the equipping of the saints for the work of ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ," (Ephesians 4:11-12). "And God has appointed these in the church: first apostles, second prophets, third teachers, after that miracles, then gifts of healings, helps, administrations, varieties of tongues." (1 Corinthians 12:28). The Prophetess Huldah, moved by the Spirit of God TAUGHT the High Priest, and other priests as well as the King of Judah about the Law. Through her, God INSTRUCTED what they had to do and what would come to occur due to the people's rebellion. The High Priest had no clue or instruction to give the King. The priests were tasked to maintain the temple operating, but a Prophet/Prophetess is placed to edify the Church - ranks WAY, WAY higher than the High Priest. It was the Prophet Moses who was used to give the Law and place the Priests. It was the Prophet Samuel who was used to anoint the first kings of Israel. It was the Prophets Haggai and the Prophet Zechariah who were over and instructed the High Priest Joshua, Nehemiah and the Scribe Ezra on what would be done for the reconstruction of the temple. It was not the priests, nor High Priests, who were tasked with this. They had no business or SPIRITUAL authority to oversee the tasks mentioned above - a Prophet/Prophetess does. Even with the Prophetess Miriam, she was used for the same purpose to LEAD Israel out of Egyptian slavery - this was not solely done by her two brothers. All three sinned against God in one way, not just her. "For I brought you up from the land of Egypt, I redeemed you from the house of bondage; And I sent before you Moses, Aaron, and Miriam." (Micah 6:4). Finally, an Apostle is NOT a Prophet. Different ministry and calling, as I shared in the verse at the start. You're mixing and inventing. Just how a Apostle does not carry the prerequisite of being born male, which is why there's an example of a female Apostle: Apsotle Junia (Romans 16:7).
Please watch the video. No one is arguing about phrophetesses or judges....the office is that of a Bishop (a.k.a. Pastor). The Bible is very specific in ITS answer.
@@johnsonfamilyhomeschool675 Respectfully, you're missing the mark entirely. Since a Prophet/Prophetess has a higher Spiritual authority than a Pastor, ANY woman Prophet governs over ANY male Pastor, in the Spirit. The focus is the office/calling not the physical, biological form. Thus, the points given about the Prophetess' mentioned in the Bible. Yet, the Bible does give an example of a female pastor: Pastor Priscilla, who oversaw a congregation in her own home and even taught scholars more accurately about The Way. (1 Corinthians 16:19), (Romans 16:3-5), (Acts 18:24-28). People erroneously attribute a wife's role in the home, submitting to her own husband, as something to do with how God calls someone to ministry. It's nonsensical and a lack of spiritual discernment to do that. Physical vs Spiritual. Hope that clarifies the reason of the points previously mentioned. God bless you!
aren't the 10 commandments the word of God. No commandment stating women are to be submissive or shouldn't be commended or ordained as pastors. Nope. It isn't in there.
While I believe I understand the gender-limited roles in Scripture there is a semantics issue here, i.e. “pastor” as someone who shepherds, versus the office of “elder” which is often referred to as the “office of a pastor.” It would help to better define these terms. For example, not all “senior pastors” are pastors in the shepherding sense. A strict ban would create legalism and not resolve deeper heart matters related to chasing leadership positions and titles, healthy marriages where couples lead a local church together and model Christ’s love for His bride, men and women needing discipleship and encouragement in using their gifts in and out of the church, etc.
Thank you for sharing your thoughts on a clarification in terms. We appreciate you commenting on this story as we look into the Southern Baptist Convention and their stance on this issue.
its religious fundamentalism, legalism and religious tyranny. as old as history itself. Power mongering. When Jesus gave the Great Commission to us all.
Absolutely... A womanizing and fake male pastor is okay but a devout woman is not allowed... No wonder Baptists have exodus of believers... Leaving the narcissistic males...
Well, the sloppy slope of Catholicism is to ignore the Bible and have a pope that says all kinds of unbiblical things. At least we can leave a church that becomes heretical. Catholics are stuck with the one church that largely ignores the Bible.
The church isn't making any decision.. God has made the decision .. "Before you were in the womb I knew you." -- (God talking in Jeremiah) Get reading. Allow your baby to live.
You do not have to agree with their stance that life begins at conception, but they are only standing against murder....since life, even scientifically, shows that it begins at conception, they are standing against murder....it is their business if you murder a child.
I’m gonna have to ask Jesus why he allowed a woman to bring the good news. Because she preached to the town and many came to the field of Jesus. I’m now these people are saying that the women cannot preach. Oh my God.
It's funny how people preach about Jesus but don't preach the same message that Jesus preached - the Kingdom of Heaven has returned to Earth. Jesus plainly explained his mission for being on Earth in Luke 4:41 And lastly set the priority of all of mankind in Matthew 6:33. The Kingdom of God is a Government ruled by our Father Yahweh - the King of Glory. Democracy is not found anywhere in the Bible because it's based on Paganism. Just like any other religion created by man. According to our Lord Jesus, Pagans pursuit their own provision every day through the practice of religion and set their own rules contrary to the rules set by the Kingdom of God.
It's sad to see the apostasy, but not surprising as the Word of God foretells it. Since when did people start to believe the LIE that man is leader of the Church? He's not, Christ is the head of the Church. Since when did people forget that the flesh does NOT minister, but the Spirit of God! This is true, whether He speaks, teaches, instructs, rebukes or blesses whether abiding in man, woman, donkey, burning mountain, burning bush or rocks. Yet, still, as the Isrealites who pleaded for a king before the Prophet Samuel, replacing God in their hearts with carnal substitutes, we see many in the Church doing the same. What blind, covetous obsession to usurp a place that ONLY corresponds to Christ. God has already guided, lead, governed, judged, taught and spoke in the congregation to men and women, through use of women. Just as He uses men, He can and has, used women, too. The physical, biological form of a person does not matter, but the Spirit of God who fills the vessel used to minister. Again, the flesh cannot minister, and man is not in charge. Thank God for that! Women in the Bible w/ ministerial calling: Apostle Junia (Romans 16:7) Prophetess Deborah (Judges 4:4-5) Prophetess Miriam "Mary" (Exodus 15:20) Prophetess Huldah (2 Chronicles 34:21-22) Prophetess Anna (Luke 2:36-37) Pastor Priscilla (1 Corinthians 16:19) Deacon Phoebe (Romans 16:1-2) "For as many of you as were baptized into Christ have put on Christ. There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is neither male nor female; for you are all one in Christ Jesus." (Galatians 3:27-28).
If Jesus intended for only males in the Church to preach, then why did He give this directive: Go into all the world and preach the Gospel to all creation. Mark 16,15 He did not say that this directive was only for men and that women are excluded from it.
God ordained man to lead the church he ordained woman to serve the church not to lead. This is why Church memberships are going down because churches are going away from the word of God. Nowadays some Churches look like dancehalls.

This is poor reporting. I talked with a couple that was at the convention and they did not vote to allow women pastors.
Within a few years, the church size shrunk and became more of a social gathering with a lot of gossip. Quenched the Holy Spirit, It became Laodicea
Please you women stop this madness obey the word of God
Feminism has destroyed men, the nation and the church.
aren't the 10 commandments the word of God.
Isn't this the slippery slope of protestantism, to cherry pick which scriptures to follow and which to disregard?
Absolutely... A womanizing and fake male pastor is okay but a devout woman is not allowed... No wonder Baptists have exodus of believers... Leaving the narcissistic males...
Well, the sloppy slope of Catholicism is to ignore the Bible and have a pope that says all kinds of unbiblical things. At least we can leave a church that becomes heretical. Catholics are stuck with the one church that largely ignores the Bible.
What is the business of the church with my child bearing decision. This is crossing your boundaries.
I am more concerned what the Bible teachers about bearing children
The church isn't making any decision.. God has made the decision .. "Before you were in the womb I knew you." -- (God talking in Jeremiah) Get reading. Allow your baby to live.
You do not have to agree with their stance that life begins at conception, but they are only standing against murder....since life, even scientifically, shows that it begins at conception, they are standing against murder....it is their business if you murder a child.
Southern Baptist is now compromising????
Na, been compromising for years now!
The first intelligent response to this SBC three ring circus I've read so far.
Following man is not ok. Follow the Bible not the world that changes daily to fit the current sin.
Women in the Bible w/ ministerial calling:
Apostle Junia (Romans 16:7)
Prophetess Deborah (Judges 4:4-5)
Prophetess Miriam "Mary" (Exodus 15:20)
Prophetess Huldah (2 Chronicles 34:21-22)
Prophetess Anna (Luke 2:36-37)
Pastor Priscilla (1 Corinthians 16:19)
Deacon Phoebe (Romans 16:1-2)
"For as many of you as were baptized into Christ have put on Christ. There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is neither male nor female; for you are all one in Christ Jesus." (Galatians 3:27-28).
Laodicea. Sad.
You get what you get when you allow someone else to control your life.
For those who prefer the teaching of Scripture to the error of society there is the Independent Baptists.
that is pure ignorance. Bull-oney
How so?
If Jesus intended for only males in the Church to preach, then why did He give this directive:
Go into all the world and preach the Gospel to all creation. Mark 16,15
He did not say that this directive was only for men and that women are excluded from it.
A woman can lead many to Christ outside of church. Women's Bible studies, neighbors, friends etc.
That is regarding Evangelism which all believers are too do. Not Pastoring a Church..............
Are the messangers apostles? Don't remember this sort of vote in the Bible. So much for sola scriptura
They Should Follow The Bible!!!
God ordained man to lead the church he ordained woman to serve the church not to lead.
This is why Church memberships are going down because churches are going away from the word of God.
Nowadays some Churches look like dancehalls.
AMEN 🙏 🙏 🙏 🙏 🙏 🙏 🙏
While women could publicly pray and prophesy in church (1 Cor. 11:1-16), they could not teach or have authority over a man (1 Tim. 2:11-14), since these were two essential functions of the clergy. Nor could women publicly question or challenge the teaching of the clergy (1 Cor. 14:34-38).
well we used to do alot of things back then, like using outhouses and riding horses to church, but we don't any more.
@@mcneillmama50 My comment wasn’t about all sorts of things. My comment was specifically on how the ordination of priests, deacons, and bishops is limited to males since 33 AD.
SBC is gone too. So be it.
Men suppose to be pastors 😊
Who has the right to vote on the Bible????? Look out
They are now LOST if they disagree with the BIBLE.
Well, the Apostle Paul said different. And that was more than 44 years ago.
Excellent! As a Catholic I am proud the Catholic Church is not alone on these issues.
This Byzantine Catholic agrees.

Big mistake
Yea woman are not supposed to preach thus says the LORD
men have always hated women. they can't help but let it be seen from time to time. And this is another way to tell our economy is in the pits and not coming back this time, with all the capitalism NIXING regulations to men are girlie now, bully and vulgar doesn't hide that, so for the Great Depression men wanted abortions banned totally get the talent out of the way AND DON'T care if they exhaust women with 20hrs a day! Women are smart, loving NOT extortionist users, and because of men they have to be strategic in their comings and goings. My Heavenly Father MUST look down on that!
sad that many women hate women.
Preach is not the same as pastor
thus says peter and paul, Jesus never said that. He said himself "there is neither male nor female, you are all ONE IN Christ"!! He also gave Mary Magnolin orders to give the deciples and Peter was mad because she was a women. I dont have the answers. Just I think It is a Peter/Paul teaching, not "God" teaching. Men like using God as a way to control people. Jesus became a curse for us on the cross, that includes the curse from genesis.

Did the 1st century church vote?
W.W.J.D.? YOU GUYS MUST NOT READ THE SAME BIBLE!
It's not what W.W.J.D. but what he had done!!!
So thankful they got it Biblicalically correct on both counts. All these years all we had to do was pray for the biblically understanding.
What exactly is a southern Baptist ? The most high is coming back for his elect his chosen YASHRAEL
You people are so full of religion and not Holy Spirit truth, watch the Woman Question by K Hagin. God bless Apostle Kathern Kirk, only church now with the Gifts of the Spirit, helping humanity. oops she is a woman, right Pharisee's???? 🔥🔥Baptists need to stop rejecting the Holy Spirit and His Glory, very sad...
They're really going to be shocked when they figure out Nuns exist. 😂🤣😂.

This is why I left you in Crete, so that you might put what remained into order, and appoint elders in every town as I directed you- if anyone is above reproach, the husband of one wife, and his children are believers and not open to the charge of debauchery or insubordination. For an overseer, as God's steward, must be above reproach. He must not be arrogant or quick-tempered or a drunkard or violent or greedy for gain, but hospitable, a lover of good, self-controlled, upright, holy, and disciplined. He must hold firm to the trustworthy word as taught, so that he may be able to give instruction in sound doctrine and also to rebuke those who contradict it.
(Titus 2:3-5)
Older women likewise are to be reverent in behavior, not slanderers or slaves to much wine. They are to teach what is good, and so train the young women to love their husbands and children, to be self-controlled, pure, working at home, kind, and submissive to their own husbands, that the word of God may not be reviled.
AND, YOUR POINT IS...????

A nun is not clergy. This Catholic can tell you that nuns and monks are not clergy or ordained.

This is poor reporting. I talked with a couple that was at the convention and they did not vote to allow women pastors. Policy is already in place to limit the role of pastor to men as demonstrated by voting out Saddleback last year and another this year. It was more that it was an addition that was unnecessary. Baptist faith, right or wrong still requires male leadership.
Bible is clear women are not to be pastors. They can serve in other capacities but not as a pastor and the Bible explains why.
I have to say read the Bible. The family unit is the key to the church.
No. Female. Pastors.
The SBC's days are numbered. The split is coming.
Women pastors is not biblical. Ivf is dangerous.

Women and men are equally ordained by God for any leadership role and teaching role, including pastor.

@@allaboutgrace2560do not twist Scripture. That is referring to Salvation. If it were referring to ALL things as you imply, pretty soon, men will be having babies in the church.
And your second problem is several Scriptures contradict your interpretation of this verse. If your interpretation of that verse were true, the Bible would have to contradict ITSELF.

Please keep up the great work, SBC. You make my work as an anti-theist so much easier. You know and WE know that 6,000 to 10,000 churches shutter forever every YEAR. Your pews are getting grayer and your offering plates lighter. You can't pay your pastors enough but you're burning their candles at both ends without any help. You fight at all your business meetings about paying that big building mortgage and whether you can cut the secretary's hours AGAIN. So keep up the good work, y'all.
So sad
sbc leadership choose money over God.
Doing something contrary to God's word for a long length of time is not a cogent argument making it A-okay.
Someone hand those Baptists Bibles!
Women's role in ministry is in teaching not being head of a church. When Joyce Meyer first appeared she herself said that her role was as a teacher of the word not that of a pastor.
Since when are scriptural commandments subject to vote by fallen human sinners!!🤔🤔😢😢👎
Go back to bible!
Why do the Baptist have a problem with the Bible. A women is not supposed to be a pastor. Nuff said
Modern translations teach otherwise. That is their ammunition...and since Baptist teach virtually any popular translation goes, it was only a matter of time.
Everyone please pray and stand in agreement that I never go back to a mental hospital and never get hospitalized at a mental hospital ever again ❤
