  • We're scarfing up great deals at an antique mall in icy cold Sioux Falls, South Dakota! No one else braved the winter whiteout to get here, so we have this wonderful store to ourselves as we comb through everything from Plains Indian clothing and beadwork to space suits. What will we take with us to our shows in the sunny south?
There's a ton of great choices here, with off-season discounts up to 50% off retail that give us a good chance of finding reseller gold that our collectors will really like. The Plains states often have true antiques at good prices to start, so we pack our van even fuller. We wedge everything from a Day-Glo polish dispenser to a cute Easter critter jar (think Spring!), a brilliant blue 1910s pedestal bowl and a 1920s clothing ad fob (something small at last!) into the few spaces we have left!
So many more interesting things capture our fancy...a space full of beautiful, original vintage lighting...a collection of pin-up cards like we've never seen...a safe that looks like oak but is heavy metal! This city and this antique pavilion are definitely on our list to go back to shop.

I must share this with you. It brought tears to my eyes when you showed the nursery jar with the little lambs on it because in the early 40s my sisters and I got one for mom for her birthday. We thought it was a candy dish so we filled it with her favorite coconut candy . She never told us any different and kept candy in it all of the time. She was very special.

Dear George ; I grew up with a pair of blue powder boxes that were identical in bodies to the blue lamp ladies you discussed in the opening . I broke one in 1971 and couldn't find a replacement . They were my great -grandmothers and my mother never forgave me. I couldn't replace the original but it sure wouldnt have been hard if antiques and collectables were easier to access like now with your help. The agate dolls set in orginal box was 45 dollars in 1987 , and that was considered " pricey " ! This store is a feast for the eyes and soul.❤

Good evening, George! I really liked that custard glass table set. Table sets, beverage and berry sets are of big interest to me. That seemed a really good price on it, too. There were some fish plates, at the Blenko bookends, that caught my eye. That bridge lamp and shade were really nice. I actually liked that Rumrill piece. Even chipped, I might have had to get that one. Loved the barrister bookcase the fish were in...kind of liked the fish, too. I'd be tempted to go with Dugan, on the opalescent footed bowl. The feet look more like Dugan than Northwood to me. With Northwood and Dugan being cousins and working out of the same factory for years, it can be difficult to tell the differences in some of their glassware, if they aren't marked with the "N". That milk glass pitcher did look to be Consolidated Glass. I really liked it. I loved those barbed wire displays! That was some fantastic shopping and items!!! Thanks for taking us along!!!

Love all the detail your give on your videos. I have a question, how do find value of vintage items that have been in the family for over a 100 years.

That custard glass set looked like a set I got from my grandmother which was her grandmothers. I think it is Heisey glass, they are decorated with roses. Do you know who made the set you found?

So many great pieces at the antique mall!! Wouldn't know where to begin! Any time I see MCM I think of Laura. She's the first reseller I watched, and still do along with numerous others It's addicting!! Have you ever come across any Stangl pottery? It was made in Flemington NJ. My mom and I used to go to the factory outlet there to shop, as well as the Dansk outlet and others. Happy hunting!!!

What an amazing selection of before unseen gems. So much great stuff there. I really liked those colourful, sweet Coors pottery pieces. The colours remind me of Fiestaware plates a little bit. I had to pause a bunch of times to look at other stuff around what you were featuring. There was a pottery animal (dog/cat/fox/lamb?) in a plain cardboard box, with some blue accessories stuffed in it. It was right after the two paper weights (father then mother) and then the father banner on the wall -- it was on the shelf in the corner, kitty corner to the banner. Does anyone know what that was? A lamp maybe with finials or things that hang from it? For some reason, it really caught my attention, and no matter how much I paused, I couldn't see it really clearly and the tag was backwards. Anyone know what this was??
