ive not been playing for 1 day....... ive been playing for 2 days like seriously and the non fail method actually works and im still trying to get used to alting
I just picked Osu back up last week after taking about 6 years off, and I’m honestly kind of amazed at how much I retained over that time. It only took two or three days for me to start setting pp records. But something I did during those one map grinds was that I would retry spam a little, but if I was resetting in the beginning a lot, I would occasionally (every 5 ish attempts) play through the whole map no matter what, basically so I didn’t forget how to play the end. It was a good mental reset and refresher, and a lot of my good scores come in the attempt one or two after a mental reset run. That being said, I am still absolute gutter trash at the game and am only top 500k because of a SUPER lucky run on a finger control map that got me 148 pp (30 more than my next best play), so this video was very enlightening and I’ll be putting these tips into practice next time I play. Especially the No Fail one. I had no idea NF doesn’t affect pp. This will make learning the end of one particular map I’m thinking of much easier (2 ish easy minutes followed by 30 seconds where I’m barely holding it together and another 30 seconds or minute that is even harder). Great video!
i downloaded osu again after like 3 years and my accuracy was awful for 4* maps, but instead of playing lower stars maps i just played 4* maps a lot and focussing on accuracy, now i can do 90-96 acc on many 4* maps but not every map :d
In January I got like 15 accuracy in the big black lol so I stopped because I knew it was really useless to train like that. Now in september I get around 60 accuracy, but still, i feel like it's a waste of time, but it's fun to try
i agree that learning alternate is really good cuz i personally am a full alt and a lot of plays i do today i dont think i would be able to do as easily as it is with alternate. not saying that i couldnt do at all, but just that (i think) it would be harder actually in my opinion alternate is really freaking op when you master it! ive tried to learn singletap and it was actually fun to play with but i dont see me switching to singletap only at all (its cool to use both sometimes tho)
Tysm man these are a very helpful tips for me even though I play osu!mania mainly I can understand it and it will help me a ton in improving later. Keep it up bro 👍
The first tip: I already started switching to tablet today. Definitely a game changer. It’s still not as easy to navigate yet cuz I still haven’t figured out the speed I’m comfortable with yet. Still gotta test that out to see. But other than that, I’ve done 6 songs completely through with just tablet alone today. So that’s some improvement. But yeah! I’m a 7 digit that’s aiming to be a 3 digit one day. That’s why imma watch this video all the way through, cuz I know it’ll help me a lot
Apparently, I’m challenging myself with 3 and above beatmaps now. I can play 2 and get S on them. So now it’s time to move forward. Especially if you want to become a pro one day. Cuz if I only play easy maps, I’ll never get better. That’s why I’m doing the harder stuff. The ones that have jumps, streams, etc
I did this to learn alternating, pick a map that is easy and single tap on both fingers and on the third try try alternating. I did this and learned alternating
I've played osu for less than a day in the past 2 years. I'm only just now starting to take it kinda seriously, and I can pass 3.5 star and under with complete ease and uncomfortably pass 3.6 to 4.0 star maps so I hope I improve.
Some of these tips in your video can also be used for the other games or even thing like doing Gym like you said, I think this video is homely and it may help me and other people like alot. Thank you.
video lowkey gave me a new mindset recently I came back to osu and been playing 0-3.5 multi and its really fun but my main focus when I do that is to fc the map, not have a good accuracy. I also realized im a retry demon cus of the combo part if im doing a map and lose my combo I just leave and look for a new one to play.😂
While watching this video I realised one pretty funny thing: I played 1.4 years without any tutorials and now I'm watching a video for the newers, even though I have already passed 7* and FCed 6* and more often think about passing 8*. But to be honest, I don't really like tablet. When I play with it, I really miss mouse right button which is my main one (keyboard is more like support for stream bursts and alternating patterns). Actually I play osu using 3 keys and maybe that fact that I didn't watch any tutorials made me to create myown style which suits me the best. But it's kinda funny that I'm watching it right now :)
The tablet tip (as in advice not the pen tip) is so sad to me because im a Jump main and tablet is literally the absolute best thing for jumps and yet i cannot use a tablet because it hurts my hands EXTREMELY BAD, i tried switching grips and all but nothing worked so i just ditched it and am still on mouse Also the fact you learned to alternate AFTER setting 300pp plays is insane to me, as soon as i hit 3 stars i started to alternate because i simply COULD NOT singletap a triple for the life of me
I have the same problem.. it starts to ache after a while, my grip was Probably the issue but i found that i was also performing better on mouse so yeah, mouse it is 😭
Recommending to buy something for ~50 total to play a free game as a beginner is crazy. I dont even know of I need to use the Keyboard or mouse to click. Thats the kind of stuff I would expect to be explained here
Hello! That's why I explained in the video, that if you are a complete beginner I advise you to watch other beginner friendly videos about how to set up the most basic stuff. This is an improvement guide :) osu! tablets come as cheap as 16 dollars in amazon if you watch the video! No need to spend 50 dollars. Also I think that it's worth it from my experience and it's a very valuable tip in my opinion. At the end of the day I'm not recommending you a $500 VR headset like in Beat Saber to be better at the game, I am recommending something that has the price of a 1 day dinner that is very affordable (and also sellable if you end up not liking it), that will potentially make A HUGE difference, and save you lots of time. So basically, I don't think "it's crazy" like you said. :) I will take your advice still but I just wanted to clear some possible misconceptions. Thanks for watching and commenting!
nice video tho my osu limit=i can only effectively use one finger at time due lack of blood in my hands(confirmed when doctors tried to take blood from it but didint got any) what means that blood cant transfer enough power and even with one finger,i run out of energy fairly fast and i react too slowly too causing me to be to slow to move and react
Wow thats the first time I hear that, really sucks :( I think you can still work around something very weird like for example theres a guy that taps with his feet Or theres people that use TAP+X
i always played osu on 30 fps bad pc and now switched to a good pc im curently playing 6 stars but as you said i skiped the early stages and my acuracy is so bad i 70% every song bc i was so foucused in speed, and not giving excuses but mouse drift makes it worse, here in brazil a tablet is too expensive but i will try to biy one some day
Number 9 is one of the most important... Using someone as the bar to set scores is honestly the best way to improve in all rhythm games. If someone beats you, you get motivated to set higher scores to stay ahead etc. It's also why I quit Osu, cause everyone I compete with stopped so there's no more fun in improving.
im a beginner at the game and i specifically started playing to improve my mouse control and click control... so to see that tip 1 immediately tells you to get a completely different input method not relevant outside of art and osu is honestly pretty demotivating
I understand what you mean, but I didn't say "switch to tablet because there's no other way you can get better at the game" I'm rather saying "almost everyone that is freaking good at this videogame, uses a tablet. so you should try a tablet to see how it goes, if it ends up good or not, at least you tried." If you want to play with your playstyle regardless then this tip is not for you. No one is forcing you to play with tablet.
i cant for the life of me alter , I've tried so much but I just end up getting confused trying to focus on whats happening in the game and my keys that I just lose the map, and also my biggest problem is those circles that are on top of each other I always end up missing 1 or 2 cause I get so confused and I've practiced altering on those but that's the main reason I miss them, my comfort maps are 3.2-5 stars too.
Here I am, the one who skipped 1,2 star maps, and didn't even stayed much on 3 star maps. I have 99.56% acc. It's easy to FC an 4* than a 3* for me. I should train alt more and play 3* to train reading.
So, I wanted to like play Osu more and get decent but i was just bad. Recently I bought a Wacom One at a boot sale and Osu feels entirely different compared to Mouse
I would not recommend a tablet unless sure you want to use it. throwing $40 to $100 or more at a device you might not use is a choice people have the right to make. Do not recommend playing difficulties below your skill level, how does that help anyone? That's boring at most. it be more beneficial to play difficulty over your skill level. you know you will fail but surviving longer is a noticeable skill improvement. I do not recommend Co-op over unless playing friends. if you can't bet 5 stars or 6 stars up you should not play Co-op. You get curve-stomped online and maybe rage-quit. Solo if you fail the song ends meaning you can retry or quit. Co-op might kill your enjoyment, and then drop the game.
Okay, now alternating, hmm, I gotta work on that. I can kinda do it. But I’m REALLLY REALLY REALLY bad at it 😂😭. Like, idk when to alternate. So I just do it whenever I feel like it. And apparently, that’s NOT a good thing. Especially when I’m trying to become a 3 digit/2 digit. So yeah
16:28 “UNLESS YOUR’RE TRYING TO GO FOR SNIPE/LEADERBOARD SCORE” (Yeah! That’s literally me! I’m aiming to become a pro one day. That’s why I care so much about a terrible looking grade. The main reason why I REFUSE to use NF. Okay, maybe not refuse refuse. I meant refuse to finish it with NF! I only turn that mod on for however far into the beatmaps. And then just exit and try to play them normally
@@paprunia hey! yes it does :) I just checked myself tried playing only 1 minute out of a 4 minute map, it adds 1 minute, tried playing 4 minute map and failing in the end, it gives me 4 minutes Check that you're playing a map that has leaderboard.
I have been full alting since joined game in 2021 and have issues with streaming due to technique is not so good, for the best i recommend learn singletap better first then later at around 4000pp can learn alternate
i have like 40 hours on osu i alternate only on smurfs or hows it called and I don't even know where is my comfort zone bc I can pass few 5 star maps but I still fail 3 star maps like wtf
2 months old player here, thanks for all the tips. Im glad that i was always an alternative player since the start, like i cant even do single tap especially jump, if i accident do single tap on jump, i would immediately fail. It feel so much easier to do alternative. Now my problem is i can do most 5-5.5* stars with more than 90% accuracy, but sometimes there are some map that only 4* or sth i got in multi play with stranger that have the pattern way too hard for me. I did some research and know its kinda like tech map or sth. So should i look for more tech map and learn those map or stick with the old normal one?
It's good to start familiarizing yourself with those lower star rating maps, that are way harder than what they suggest! I wouldn't recommend spending super amounts of time with them. Even though they're low star rating they require good processing speed, aim speed, tapping speed, etc, which you will acquire by playing normal long maps with simpler skillsets like jumps and bursts. Still, the tips from this video are super helpful, like playing those maps you mentioned or playing also like old maps. But prioritize on developing raw skill and consistency for now!
I've been playing the game off and on for maybe 2 years but about 3 months ago I got a tablet so I've been playing a whole lot more and now I love the game and am trying to get better but the problem is I'm still only able to do 2-3 star levels and I have been stuck at this stage for so long and don't know what to do, any help?
how long have you been stuck? And at what severity? Unless you’re unable to achieve small goals such as incrementally getting more accurate plays like in the video you might be progressing at a perfectly normal pace. It just takes time, same as when you’re growing and it’s impossible to tell the difference between your height yesterday and your height today there will be a tangible difference in due time
I have a tablet but It feels so weird. With the mouse I can feel physically the table and where the mouse is going without looking, but the tablet? I just feel the pen flying, very weird. But I'll try again, thanks, also, Is a 10ms monitor a significant limitation?
@Marco-n4z2d no! Singletap generally implies that you're not using only one key for 1/4 rhythms (see 1/2 as jumps rhythm and 1/4 as triplet/stream or any variant)
@Shikkesora right.. thank you then I played for and entire year already and I'm still a 6-digit. I tried before but for some reason my brain can't comprehend how to do it.
right ive been playing for 3 days and cant single tap.. i can only alternate. i have a lot of experience with mobile rhythm games and taiko but was told to try and use both tapping methods but how tf do i do that i can onlyyyy alternate
@@laughoutloudly69 because it's so hard to learn after you already played osu a ton, than just starting. You will understand why alting matters later on
It's Yugen skin, with a Kamui cursor that I edited to blue color, and a pink trail from somewhere I do not know I don't have this anymore but I tried recreating it: shikkesora.s-ul.eu/KGvWYOxa
just realized the skin has the kiai particles very small white particles when the map chorus hits, you can disable that if you make the file "star2.png" transparent !@@MermaidKerri
i started like 3 days ago and already did a bunch of things you must NOT do in osu it seems💀😭😭. i have already beaten a few 4-5 stars with somewhat of a bad score (idk if its bad or not). before osu, i mainly play geometry dash demon level so i naturally develop the "retry spamming" so it's really difficult to get out of that habit since i have been doing it in geometry dash for like years now. I don't really know the "progression" in this game, like how much time it usually take for someone to progress up 1 star (i know it depends on the map) so if someone could explain to me what the usual progression is. i would appreciate it
@@EnderAI it's okay, you can retry spam, just do it with "a purpose", for example, you want to improve the score. Don't do it without purpose or if you don't have a goal to accomplish with it :)
so if im able to barely do 5 stars i should still focus on 1 or 2 stars and still do some 5 stars? also if i feel like i am going too fast in some songs like hitting early alot should i practice more lower dificulty? also if i want to start playing hidden and practice hidden should i replace me practicing my 1 - 2 star maps with me practicing them with hidden on? im not sure because i feel like if i do that then i might get worse at both
If you're at that point I wouldn't practice 1 or 2 star maps, I'd say if you're gonna go low at least go like 2.5-3.5 stars, and yes HD is good in beginning

Good luck on your new journey :3
currently hardstruck in mania so i decided to take a break and play standard this video is very helpfull
i downloaded osu again after like 3 years and my accuracy was awful for 4* maps, but instead of playing lower stars maps i just played 4* maps a lot and focussing on accuracy, now i can do 90-96 acc on many 4* maps but not every map :d
In January I got like 15 accuracy in the big black lol so I stopped because I knew it was really useless to train like that. Now in september I get around 60 accuracy, but still, i feel like it's a waste of time, but it's fun to try
Good job!
Your poin on the single tap is so true, especially if you started to use dt to playing the game. This is from my own experiences lol XD
Me too :D
SO AMAZING VIDEO111!!!!1 ❤❤❤
thanks!
i agree that learning alternate is really good cuz i personally am a full alt and a lot of plays i do today i dont think i would be able to do as easily as it is with alternate. not saying that i couldnt do at all, but just that (i think) it would be harder
actually in my opinion alternate is really freaking op when you master it! ive tried to learn singletap and it was actually fun to play with but i dont see me switching to singletap only at all (its cool to use both sometimes tho)
7:40 just noting he said SS (100% great/300 hits) not assess
Tysm man these are a very helpful tips for me even though I play osu!mania mainly I can understand it and it will help me a ton in improving later. Keep it up bro 👍
Thank you for the words! No problem!
Anything you need just add me to discord "shikkesora" :D
alt tapping is goated actually
ive been sweating my balls of day by day and started to see that i really improved and thats the best feeling
So nice to hear!! I also improved a ton back in the day when I started learning it :)
I needed this
banger and ty for the tips ''the beginner was for me ngl''
Apparently, I’m challenging myself with 3 and above beatmaps now. I can play 2 and get S on them. So now it’s time to move forward. Especially if you want to become a pro one day. Cuz if I only play easy maps, I’ll never get better. That’s why I’m doing the harder stuff. The ones that have jumps, streams, etc
"don't play with the default skin." I like it though
I did this to learn alternating, pick a map that is easy and single tap on both fingers and on the third try try alternating. I did this and learned alternating
I've played osu for less than a day in the past 2 years. I'm only just now starting to take it kinda seriously, and I can pass 3.5 star and under with complete ease and uncomfortably pass 3.6 to 4.0 star maps so I hope I improve.
Good luck
Some of these tips in your video can also be used for the other games or even thing like doing Gym like you said, I think this video is homely and it may help me and other people like alot. Thank you.
Single tap your feet's on the mat come on!
video lowkey gave me a new mindset recently I came back to osu and been playing 0-3.5 multi and its really fun but my main focus when I do that is to fc the map, not have a good accuracy. I also realized im a retry demon cus of the combo part if im doing a map and lose my combo I just leave and look for a new one to play.😂
I bought my first laptop trying to find a new past time when im done studying and have to wait another 4hrs for my next subject
Okay!
training maps really help lol otherwise i wouldve beem stuck doing random slow maps that give me head ache
Great vid!
Bro, with number 3 the only reason I started and stuck with full alt because of my OCD
Funny because I began to learn how to alt and single tap on my own and it's pretty fun!
The tablet tip (as in advice not the pen tip) is so sad to me because im a Jump main and tablet is literally the absolute best thing for jumps and yet i cannot use a tablet because it hurts my hands EXTREMELY BAD, i tried switching grips and all but nothing worked so i just ditched it and am still on mouse
Also the fact you learned to alternate AFTER setting 300pp plays is insane to me, as soon as i hit 3 stars i started to alternate because i simply COULD NOT singletap a triple for the life of me
I think he meant full alternating, I don't think you're supposed to singletap triples
I have the same problem.. it starts to ache after a while, my grip was Probably the issue but i found that i was also performing better on mouse so yeah, mouse it is 😭
A head to remove the rubber part of my pen, cause it kept slipping and hurting my hand
This is an improvement guide :)
osu! tablets come as cheap as 16 dollars in amazon if you watch the video! :)
I will take your advice still but I just wanted to clear some possible misconceptions. Thanks for watching and commenting!
14:22 what skin pls give me link
I don't have it :( but it's one of flying tuna's skins
nice video tho
my osu limit=i can only effectively use one finger at time due lack of blood in my hands(confirmed when doctors tried to take blood from it but didint got any) what means that blood cant transfer enough power and even with one finger,i run out of energy fairly fast and i react too slowly too causing me to be to slow to move and react
Wow thats the first time I hear that, really sucks :(
I think you can still work around something very weird like for example theres a guy that taps with his feet
Or theres people that use TAP+X
i always played osu on 30 fps bad pc and now switched to a good pc im curently playing 6 stars but as you said i skiped the early stages and my acuracy is so bad i 70% every song bc i was so foucused in speed, and not giving excuses but mouse drift makes it worse, here in brazil a tablet is too expensive but i will try to biy one some day
I skipped the low star maps lol I just played 4* HT… 1 SS to date
Number 9 is one of the most important...
Using someone as the bar to set scores is honestly the best way to improve in all rhythm games. If someone beats you, you get motivated to set higher scores to stay ahead etc.
It's also why I quit Osu, cause everyone I compete with stopped so there's no more fun in improving.
I agree! :D
I hope you can find someone to compete with :(
ah I am a laptop and tablet user
just spamming X and moving my finger across the touchpad
or banging my tablet with my stylus
TouchPad is super bad for osu x_x
im a beginner at the game and i specifically started playing to improve my mouse control and click control... so to see that tip 1 immediately tells you to get a completely different input method not relevant outside of art and osu is honestly pretty demotivating
I understand what you mean, but I didn't say "switch to tablet because there's no other way you can get better at the game"
I'm rather saying "almost everyone that is freaking good at this videogame, uses a tablet. so you should try a tablet to see how it goes, if it ends up good or not, at least you tried."
If you want to play with your playstyle regardless then this tip is not for you. No one is forcing you to play with tablet.
one of the scenes he covers the letter P in pass LMAO
Yoooo
i cant for the life of me alter , I've tried so much but I just end up getting confused trying to focus on whats happening in the game and my keys that I just lose the map, and also my biggest problem is those circles that are on top of each other I always end up missing 1 or 2 cause I get so confused and I've practiced altering on those but that's the main reason I miss them, my comfort maps are 3.2-5 stars too.
dm me to "shikkesora" discord ID, i will help u :D
Here I am, the one who skipped 1,2 star maps, and didn't even stayed much on 3 star maps. I have 99.56% acc. It's easy to FC an 4* than a 3* for me.
I should train alt more and play 3* to train reading.
So, I wanted to like play Osu more and get decent but i was just bad. Recently I bought a Wacom One at a boot sale and Osu feels entirely different compared to Mouse

Got any tips for me? I played 2-3 star maps and got a lot of S ranks but with 4 star maps I keep choking a ranks and S ranks
i have 2 years playing osu on mouse lmaooo, i really wanna switch to tablet, im stuck on 4* maps cant get more improvement:(
I would not recommend a tablet unless sure you want to use it. throwing $40 to $100 or more at a device you might not use is a choice people have the right to make.
You're free to play the game however you want!
You can also make your own video about improvement tips! :D
So yeah
16:28 “UNLESS YOUR’RE TRYING TO GO FOR SNIPE/LEADERBOARD SCORE”
(Yeah!
6:06 she doesn't think the same
First play with 2*+hr and now stuck at 5-6 star😢 and 100k rank damn
I was trying osu! cuz Projekt sekai got kinda boring
But I had no clue how this works before the video
Thanks for the tutorial
when you fail the map then to your porfile you dont get play time only plays and total score * 17:50
it does
@@Shikkesora no you dont i even check it twice when i was writing it when you fail like on 1/2 of 4m map you dont get this 2mins to your playtime
@@paprunia hey!
yes it does :) I just checked myself
tried playing only 1 minute out of a 4 minute map, it adds 1 minute, tried playing 4 minute map and failing in the end, it gives me 4 minutes
Check that you're playing a map that has leaderboard.
Me laughing* "DONT LAUGH IM TRYING TO HIT IT"
I was thinking if I play Osu on a tablet, and I'm left handed, should the tablet on my left side as well?
Yes! should be better but always try whats the best for you :)
I'm a new player and i have thank you friend!
The first map I added shoulder boulders 💀💀💀💀
I have been full alting since joined game in 2021 and have issues with streaming due to technique is not so good, for the best i recommend learn singletap better first then later at around 4000pp can learn alternate
I've been playing this fucking game for over 7 years and i still cant beat 6 star maps
@@imtired9444 it doesn't matter how many years, playtime and effort does!

I love how this dude related osu to other stuff lmfaoo

@@victorlima6113 because you need to install drivers!!!! Install opentabletdriver. Search for tutorials if you need help. :)
10ms is a lot yes!!

BASARA MENTIONED BASARA MENTIONED
I only do triples or more with 2 fingers. Is that considered alternating?
@Marco-n4z2d no!
Singletap generally implies that you're not using only one key for 1/4 rhythms (see 1/2 as jumps rhythm and 1/4 as triplet/stream or any variant)
@Shikkesora right.. thank you then
I played for and entire year already and I'm still a 6-digit. I tried before but for some reason my brain can't comprehend how to do it.
right ive been playing for 3 days and cant single tap.. i can only alternate. i have a lot of experience with mobile rhythm games and taiko but was told to try and use both tapping methods but how tf do i do that i can onlyyyy alternate
interesting!! i never heard a case like that

i started like 3 days ago and already did a bunch of things you must NOT do in osu it seems💀😭😭. i have already beaten a few 4-5 stars with somewhat of a bad score (idk if its bad or not). before osu, i mainly play geometry dash demon level so i naturally develop the "retry spamming" so it's really difficult to get out of that habit since i have been doing it in geometry dash for like years now. I don't really know the "progression" in this game, like how much time it usually take for someone to progress up 1 star (i know it depends on the map) so if someone could explain to me what the usual progression is. i would appreciate it
not expecting a reply on a 1 year old video but i if someone did reply. thank you ig
@@EnderAI it's okay, you can retry spam, just do it with "a purpose", for example, you want to improve the score. Don't do it without purpose or if you don't have a goal to accomplish with it :)
I can now do 4 stars thanks to thus vid
so if im able to barely do 5 stars i should still focus on 1 or 2 stars and still do some 5 stars? also if i feel like i am going too fast in some songs like hitting early alot should i practice more lower dificulty? also if i want to start playing hidden and practice hidden should i replace me practicing my 1 - 2 star maps with me practicing them with hidden on? im not sure because i feel like if i do that then i might get worse at both
If you're at that point I wouldn't practice 1 or 2 star maps, I'd say if you're gonna go low at least go like 2.5-3.5 stars, and yes HD is good in beginning
alright thank you for the help!

do you have a recommendation for keyboard playstyle like how i hit the notes because right now im using base zx alternate but not sure if that is right
