    I agree with all of this. The problem is you can't make other teammates pass or hit shots. The majority of NBA 2K does not get this. They all want to play one-on-one.
    You definitely have to go in with people you know or if you find randoms who do have some passing ability and IQ you have to add them as quick as you can.
    Playing like this makes sure everybody eats and gets stats. Whether it's a score or insist, everybody's teammate great. Ends up pretty high because everyone gets to touch. The ball keeps everyone involved. Even if you're not scoring, you can at least make a decision. Nothing worse than staying in the corner. Watching some guy miss shots and dictate everything being done

      Very true, it’s because everybody wants to make the best build and nobody is preaching about Playmaking being important on builds. It’s harder to guard five people who can make good decisions vs one player, plain and simple. I also understand it’s very hard to change people’s mind and playstyle if they win some games doing their own thing. Hard to find teammates who don’t have a problem making the extra pass or watching everybody on the team work. My mentality keeps everyone engaged on offense which makes them want to play defense because they know they’ll get rewarded! Well Said By You!

    Preach! Passing is so easy if people just take their time and understand how that opens up the pffense so much more. Its a headache playing in random rec and asking guys to commit to passing. Everyone wanna be a star it feels.

    • @pointgod2_
      @pointgod2_  6 месяцев назад +1

      At the very least they can just learn to pass in order to make the defense focus on somebody else. Instead you have one man teams all over the rec. Just trying to change that!

      So this really doesn’t work at the top level? Also would you consider you guys comp and if you did play comp pro am would you play differently. 5 out, PNR, left right 3, with the PG being the main scorer?
      Kinda curious if skilled players can break the meta play style or is the meta just so OP that is the only way to truly be competitive

    • @pointgod2_
      @pointgod2_  6 месяцев назад +2

      I used to play comp pro am all last year. I even have an old video on this channel from one of my league games against 2K pros. I was left right 3 hunting like other guards but this is what i learned. What made me different was understanding the defenses habits of always wanting to help, and guarding my Sg differently. From there i realized that if you use the best moves but are willing to pass, you will be an unguardable PG. I wouldn’t consider myself “comp” this year, my playstyle requires 5 guys with HIGH IQ offensively and “comp” doesn’t do that for me. I Shìt the game when all i do is make reads and watch my teammates improve as well. Even at the cost of losses.

    • @pointgod2_
      @pointgod2_  6 месяцев назад +1

      The meta can be broken, but it wouldn’t be “respected” or would be considered a fluke or just called the new “meta”

    • @NicooRico
      @NicooRico 6 месяцев назад

      @@pointgod2_ I agree. I've seen your method work in real time with other PG's that do this. Not everyone will work it But there are definitely a few PG's out there who utilize passing from the whole team to get open and make defenses shift to get open.
      I consider this most of this generation of 2k players young and copycat. They see something that works and sticks to it. Problem is you have to be truly skilled at the Pg level to make the current meta work. And even then, there is still room for error or the gap isn't that big from the next PG.
      What makes you truly different from the pack is demanding all your teammates to utilize as much IQ as you do on offense so you have that much more freedom to score.

    Growing up, my main sport was soccer, a game in which you just cannot think of not passing the ball and moving as the main source of generating plays and actions. Yes, individual moments of brilliance are needed, but you can just put that individual brilliance at the disposal of team-hivemind thinking and not just to yourself.
    Getting into basketball, and digital basketball, I couldn't wrap my mind on how many people treat it as some sort of "Poor Man's All Star Game" where even if the team ("comp" scene) gets results and has an above average win %, the team's major accomplishment of "Moving the Ball* could just but be an "astonishing" double alley-oop. People don't look the floor. When they receive the ball, they think that somehow they are now entitled to put it on the floor and seek their own shot. They can't think of a rapid give-and-go. They see the playmaker giving the ball to someone, so that was it; the PG passed the ball, so now, with 20 seconds left, I am going to dribble and just shoot it.
    People are sooo anesthetized from this whole "Comp" scene that they ended up not seeking anything anymore from videogaming. They play with pre-meditated actions that everybody knows, so everything stays in its own repeating cycle. I already know that my opponents are going to play as I am going to do.

    • @pointgod2_
      @pointgod2_  6 месяцев назад +2

      Yeah, you can already tell what the opponents will do now before you even play them. I do like the relation to soccer because the split second decisions and team play are what make basketball and 2k fun a lot of the times!

  • @YonkoSL
    @YonkoSL 6 месяцев назад

    Totally agree. The biggest problem I see, especially in rec is that everyone wants to be THAT guy which leads to a lot of toxic play.
    Sometimes you just have to put your pride and ego to the side and play team ball. There are also a lot of people who are just confused about what role they play on a team. Everyone wants to be Jordan but realize we need a Pippen or a Rodman.

    • @pointgod2_
      @pointgod2_  6 месяцев назад

      Role players are definitely essential in this game. It seems like every position 1-5 wants to be a scorer which is cool, but only works well if you move the ball in between each other and allow your teammates to create opportunities for themselves AS WELL as you. That’s what most people don’t understand or aren’t used too, the fact that other people can make plays for you when your off the ball!

      Appreciate the feedback, it’s always good to have conversations or critique to each others view points. The point i brought up here is why i advise people don’t run zone, because better teams will break it easily. But then again it’s rec so you may not face a good team often!

    • @_SP__
      @_SP__ 6 месяцев назад

      You’re spot on the money with that one bro. Better teams will dismantle a 2-3 by putting shooters on the hashes/wings. Thus why we see more 3-2 zones run in the pro am scene.

    1:30 I gotta disagree. If the team I’m playing doesn’t know how to break a 2-3 zone (run a 3-2 offense) then I’m running zone every play! And if you can’t guard your man one on one.. you probably shouldn’t be in the rec!

    • @pointgod2_
      @pointgod2_  6 месяцев назад +1

      I hear you, so to counter, Would you agree that 2-3 zones mainly work against lower level teams without structure to their offense? A lot of teams i see run a 2-3 end up guarding spaces with nobody and lose because of that. Maybe I’m yet to run into a solid team who knows how to properly play zone, if that’s the case I’ll have to see what to do versus them.

    I cringe every time I run rec. I only play solo and play about 6 games a day or so. I average 10 points 14 rebounds and 8 assists on a fucking center 😂 I’m also at about 2 blocks a game. And our guard will average like 2 assists and 20 points on like 20% shooting. My last game I had a quadruple double and our guard tanked us so hard he went 5/22 with 6 turnovers and got kicked
